I was a huge fan of D1, and D2, but more D1. And this version of her feels like a MORE gothic horror version of the D2 version, which I love. The suspense of her coming onscreen, her first form having an almost fucked up Onryo/Ringu kind of feel, it's just incredible. Fucking love this game. Bringing horror back to my beloved Diablo
Almost teared up, lol, it was like greeting and old friend ^_^ Like many others here having grinded Andariel's cloister throne room for years, this was a treat. It blew me away and I wasn't prepared, not at the time. I was so immersed in the story I actually didn't think she would appear, and then boom. I was like 'no F*CKING way...Superb desing and execution. Terrifying. More of her, please.
“Andariel, if you played Diablo 2, is coming back in a big way in Diablo 4. She’s a demon that scares other demons. She’s the demon of mental anguish. Other demons put the chains on her because she’s so terrifying. The heads on her are people that wronged her.”
I think every Greater Evil is chained in a way. Soulstones, reformations, etc. Perhaps she was not ready for her actual form when summoned. A premature summoning I guess
I know "Blood is the key" is D4's marketing key, but it doesn't mean it is cool that every boss' attacks are just red waves. Andy without poison attack and ruthless chasing just feels wrong.
Idk . I thought this was cool. Personally I wish the story didn’t tell you if it was Andariel or duriel. Lorath says it is probably one of the two and after that it just keeps saying Andariel over and over lol It would’ve been more hype if they made it more of a surprise. I thought her new look and spells were really cool and the music was epic
This boss was so intense for me I died at last minute, those who comment that it’s disappointing did u actually play the fight or just watching it on RUclips?
Interesting, I found the fight a bit too easy, but I like to think that she was just summoned, so maybe was still weak. I loved it though, her design and look is top notch. I only believe she deserved better, a stronger introduction and a bit more presence in the story. Even Elias has a more intense fight, and he's a summoner. I know, the story is focused on him and Lilith etc.. And Duriel is even more put on the side, but they are lesser evils after all, those that, as Lorath says, can make a whole town to fall easily, those that if summoned 'we are all doomed'; meanwhile the hero: "hold my potion"
I got there already level 52 because I wanted to complete everything interesting a zone had to offer - skipping some dungeons with aspects I don't care for - and by that point I could just facetank every ability, ignore the chains and wail on her for the entire fight. Awesome to see her back as a boss. Just could've used some more mechanics scaling better to stay dangerous.
I mean she looks good but she feels gimped... In D2 first time she comes out of no where and kills you with poison nova. But here it's just o here she is and just gets slapped. Dungeon or stronghold bosses were so much harder
She isnt in her best form obviously. In D2 she had her empire. Here it was like she was pulled out of a gulag or something. Might even be surprised that she walks the earth again like “WTF AM I DOING HERE”
found this impossible on Hard setting, cranked it down to Normal and I steam rolled her in 30 seconds…………….something seems broken here in the scaling…….
Idk why people keep praising the bossfights, clunky asf with damage sponges and either homing projectiles or adds. Only reason they're doable is bc they keep chaindropping healing pots, maybe it's more fun if you can facetank them but as a sorc it's been an utter disaster so far lol
Look over your build and gear. As a sorc you can absolutely kill all Tier 2 bosses on first try (maybe except Duriel, which took me a few tries). I run a Ice shard build with synergy afflixes, no problems at all. Sorc are great as long as you manage pacing of aoe, distance and mana. Hope you find your Sorc groove.
As a Sorc I had trouble once with an early boss. After that one boss I stopped running around kiting stuff like a maniac and all I did, EVERY SINGLE TIME was glue my character to the boss and do damage. I might click to the side now and then to avoid a circle but that's it. I don't know if it's a bug or something. Perhaps the game has trouble hitting you if you're always close but all the bosses were easy as pie. All these boss fight mechanics creating those red lines of danger were completely ignored by me. Heck, you can even see it in this video to some extent. How he just stands there near the boss and barely has any issues.
Blizzard must really not wanted to include the twins in D4 They got no voice lines, no in game cutscene, no effect on the story. I've yet to encounter another fight with them in the endgame (just got to WT4) What was even the point?? Astorath looks like shit and was pointless, could of cut that part of the story and have Andy and duriel center stage. Two lesser evils would of been able to give lillith the safe passage into hell that she wanted
I fought her on my barb (first character) yesterday just before going to bed. In my fight she lost that torture thing from her shoulders, but kept the same move set like before - I tho it was weird AF. Now I see it was a bug indeed - way to ruin my experience with bugged fight with one of my fav characters...

Breathtaking design. However, it’s simply too easy. Most players should at least die 5-15 times to learn the mechanism before beating her, or any major boss. You would’ve thought that Blizzard learned something from Elden Ring, but no. 🤨
I was disappointed at the graphics for this boss compared to Diablo II. Adult themes is apart of Diablo appeal. I dont want everything to be toned down for this generation.

The design of Andariel here is absolutely phenomenal especially with her chains.
Agreed, soo good
100 % agreed...
Andariel’s design is my absolute favourite thing in d4. She looks truly terrifying and is the ultimate embodiment of anguish
yeap. very different from how she looked in her original appearance
i liked how the lore influced her encounter. The chain cripples bring out a certain amount of...anguish. hehe
Andariel wandering onto the screen was a legit "oh shit" moment for me. So cool.
I hope we can fight the campaign bosses again in the endgame with a future update. This is one of the coolest bosses in the game.
