Lizardmen are in such a weird place. They got so many LLs via DLCs during Warhammer 2, but none of that gave them an actual faction mechanic worth a damn. They don't need any more heroes or Lords - but they desperately need a rework of the Geomantic Web, as well as something - anything - for Mazdamundi, Kroq-Gar, Gor-Rok and Tik'Takto in regards to campaign mechanics.

I think more then 5 factions need a update tbh.
To me, the Counts, Coasts, Tomb Kings, Lizardmen, Bretonnia, Norsca and Slaanesh all need some reworks.
Also some individual lords from factions needs some love as well, Like Teclis for example, who is supposed to be one of the greatest wizards ever alive, but is so underpowered in the game, or Lord Skrolk, who really needs something similar to Nurgle''s plague cauldron to be more fun.

Honestly, Dark Elves' main issues are with each individual faction campaigns. Their overarching mechanics aren't that bad, it is the individual character mechanics that often suck.
-Maliketh is Witch King, despotic ruler of all Druchii, king of Naggaroth, tyrant of the New World. But he gets absolutely nothing to help him control other subjugate other dark elf factions other than a flat bonus to alliance points. He needs something like the Empire mechanic; let him rule and control other dark elf factions through dilemmas and events. Also he is sandwiched between Grombus and Valkia, which means it is a lot harder campaign than other "default" factions like Franz or Tyrion.
-Morathi is honestly fine. Her startpos is pretty tough but the mechanics of the campaign themself are pretty decent.
-Hellebron has an absolutely ass campaign; not only are you right next to Malekith (why wouldn't you just play him), your only meaningful mechanic is throwing slaves down the Death Night Dumpster to get mediocre bonuses to control and witch elves. Oh yeah, and an uncontrollable army that just kamikazes itself into the nearest High Elf faction without ever achieving anything.
-Malus has the same issue as Hellebron. Although his bonuses are better, there is absolutely nothing interesting about hitting the beeg button to get public order. The best way to play Malus is honestly to play Malekith or Morathi and confederate him so you dont have to deal with the T'zarkan mechanic.
-Rakarth is probably the best one; cool mechanics with the beast capturing, a unique start position, and you can even relocate back to Naggaroth with the Karond Kar quest.
-Same goes for Lokhir, his faction is also pretty decent. However, it is much more shallow than Rakarth's.
Sorry for the wall of text, I am very passionate about my Dark Edgy Bois :o

Just thought of. In terms of Norsca - I'd like to see them lend from the caravan mechanic from Chaos Dwarves and Cathay. It could be like "expeditions" where instead of on land they go by ships on sea lanes and you send them to different regions. There could also be different expeditions, both raiding expedition where they go and sack regions for money and hunting expeditions where, perhaps like Rakarth you gain unique creatures based on the regions There could also be a settler expedition, where you gain a "farm" (really just like a Skaven undercity) in a region which you can expand to allow Wulfrik to go there (you know allowing him to be the "Wanderer"). Obviously your expeditions can then encounter different foes at sea.
Just an idea - and I really would not mind them borrowing from other faction mechanics if it somehow helps the faction.

Nagash is more tomb kings adjacent then vampires despite his immortality formula bring the bases of the existence of Vampires in the first place in lore. Maybe he could be his own faction like the warriors of chaos where he can “recruit” all types of undead in his armies, from vampire counts, vampire coasts, tomb kings, etc of anything else undead related.

    • @bigquazz3955
      @bigquazz3955 3 месяца назад +5

@@brandonlyon730 Nagash does have his own faction in tabletop, the undead legions. That being said, they already have a precedent to prevent them from making that a playable faction in game since Arkhan the black is also supposed to be part of the undead legions.
If Nagash is added, he'll probably be a tombking just like Arkhan... Even though in the lore both are closer to vampire counts than tombkings. They practice a totally different kind of necromancy that makes the standard tombking skeletal legions near impossible to use. The dead hate Nagash so much that he even struggled to resurrect anything without causing an undead civil war at one point. So he's basically limited to resurrecting only a small amount of loyalist and completely mindless puppets.

When he passed away I did a campaign as Karl Franz, united the empire, and used it resources to fully annex and kill off all the wood, high, and dark elves. Fully annexing all their territory. For style points I did it with a hand gunners only army as early as I could field it, which made the game a cake walk especially after I upgraded to Nuln Ironsides and Steam tanks with volley guns. I think the Norscan Lords either need a generic Yellow path or their dedication path needs to be expanded significantly (preferably both).
Most lords would have access to 30 Charge Bonus, 15 Armor, 12 MD, 12 MA, 20% WS, 15% speed, 15% HP, and 12 Leadership (some variation, but that's the baseline).

I'd like to see a system of sea raiding for Norsca, Vampire Coast and Dark Elves that works similar to caravans. Have a special 'Raid Captain' type lord and better rewards the further you voyage, but also the riskier the journey (other sea races, those pirate rogue armies, even sea monsters). You get a new unit each time you complete a raid and pick up flotsam/supplies/castaway units/heroes along the way. And a big battle at the end destination of course. A nice way to fight different races whilst focusing on your campaign objectives closer to home. Could also be a random hazard for the players who play other races with coastal settlements.

Also, it would be kinda cool if the "rise from the dead" mechanic was more interactive. Imagine you get some kind of battle currency (still could have random chance baked in) that you earn, and allows you to choose which units to revive. So, what I want to see changed about N'Kari is that their vassals need to favor and spread Slaanesh corruption like Azazel's do.
Every time I play as them (it?), I Dominate Alarielle (don't you judge me!) and... She immediately sits on her provinces and does nothing for the rest of the game because they're getting eaten alive by Slaanesh corruption.
And then my vassals spend themselves into bankruptcy for some reason. Armies that they can't afford. It makes the system pointless.
... Also, the relations bonuses for having high Seductive Influence don't seem to apply to N'Kari's own faction. You know, the +80 relations at max SI towards daemons of chaos and norsca and stuff. Not towards N'Kari though. I bet its his own faction effect of +20 relations overwriting it.

One mechanic I would LOVE for the Vampire Counts to really sell the Necromancy theme would be either or both:
1- Each army gets 5-10 extra units slots, but you can only recruit Zombies for those slots, the basic zombie chaff.
2- A death count like mechanic similar to Tomb Kings or Dark Elves; once you kill enough enemies you get to raise the dead to bolster your army.
Other than that, as far as campaign mechanics go, more focus in the raising dead mechanic to recruit large armies for free or very cheap, and a greater focus on the mechanic of vampire corruption.

So, vampire counts and tomb king player here. They do need an update and my suggestion is a new endgame senerio. Both factions and the vampire coast are all tied together by nagash. Which does rise in the age of sigmar. Say 50-100 turns in all vampire or tomb king factions are forced to make a choice. Get a massive morale debuff for 20 turns or get annexed “or forced into some type of alliance” by nagash. Nagash himself massively buffing undead armies under his control. Could be a neat endtimes bit.
Alternatively you could make it so vampire counts/ coast can raise the fallen units from other armies they’ve fought rather than their own. And let the tomb kings actually use the lore of vampires magic.

I think what vampires/tomb kings/vampire coast really needs is to have a system kind of like the seduction system, but it turns enemy units into undead and they can only use it after an enemy army is defeated.
Picture a skeletal Dread Saurus stomping around...
Letting them steal units but only after they kill them is both thematic and gives them a power boost that makes the campaign more meaningful.

A Warriors of Chaos style DLC.
A lord for each "Faction" type of Vampire: I.E.
Lahmian (neferata, make her a vampire count version of Arkhan so she is a vamp faction but can use some tomb king units and makes use of a spy influence network)
Ushoran (Strigoi) or Vorag (Strigoi but as a horde mechanic with Vorag acting like a taurox esk character)
We have plenty of Von Carsteins, we don't need more. I love Vlad
Abhorash (Necrarch's. Give him a books of Nagash equiv but gaining access to strong spells like Gelt in acquiring them)
The Red Duke (Blood Dragons. He's literally already in the game and has been since TW: War 1. Give him some Bretonnian units but "spooky" to reflect that he's a bretonnian and he's done maybe put in some type of chivalry equiv mechanic but more evil...maybe too much work, they could literally just make the red duke a LL you can use and I'd be fucking happy )

Mannfred is the only VC, who seeks out Books of Nagash, others don't even have that. Blood Kisses are useless after you have awoken all bloodlines (Empire had this problem with one of their global resources but it was reworked so it CAN be fixed). Lords, other than Ghorst, don't have any roster preferences and all play just the same (and Ghorst's preference is dull as a grave, honestly). What I see as a good idea - 5 factions, 1 for each bloodline - spread far away from each other and with differently flavored mechanics and different lords - maybe a slightly redone versions of bloodlines (which, as a mechanic, will have to go, though, the idea of farming blood kisses to recruit lords could do)
Lahmians would be heavily into diplomacy and stealth - something in between Skaven, High Elves and Slaanesh.
Necrarchs look good with a unit modifications - clan Moulder or Skryer comes to mind. They are also magic heavy, so maybe 2 or 3 types of lords with differently mixed schools.
Von Carsteins are starting as part of the Empire, basically - so let them have some perverted parody of Empire's mechanics - after all, don't they dub elector count swords ''fangs'' for some reason? Could also give them Drycha's beast roster, why not - lore accurate and could be a nice flavor.
Totally lost on Strigoi, honestly - a horde faction, maybe? No vampire heroes, less armor, yet more physical res and more speed? Maybe scouring the world for some old places and/or relics? Something along the lines of Belegar could also do - like, find themselves a home to have a shot at new kingdom. With an option to skip it and go on as a horde for the rest of the game.
Blood Dragons - infantry and cav specialties, less monsters and magic, mighty lords. Stat bonuses for army for each faction at war with, legendary heroes recruiting quests. Maybe something about feeding on the dragon's blood - campaign in Cathay or Ulthuan, perhaps?

Im a vampire player, and the counts do need a few things, first of all, they need something to handle dwarfs and chaos units, those two units have simply too much armor and defense or damage to that the vampire counts can handle them effectively, dawi resist your spell damage, and their many canons blows a lot of your army away, and chaos are both armoured and high damage dealer, your graveguards starts to crumble way too fast when they engage with chaos or dawi, even when you buff their stats when they fight or debuff the enemy. I like the blood kiss but it seems a bit too expensive and the mechanic of having to kill army leaders in battle or through assassination is annoying when its usually at best a 40 to 50% chance of success and that is when your banshees are at high level. Otherwise i would just like the vampire counts units like the graveguards and hexwraiths have more armour piercing and weapons strength and maybe a slightly higher melee attack.

  • @wolfianius6037
    @wolfianius6037 3 месяца назад

I think Bretonnia belongs on this list. You can ignore the peasant cap mechanic, the thing with "chivalry system" is also something one could ignore and the only thing you do with your armies is to get the better cavallry until you reach the Hypogriffin riders. The whole "vows" system is nice and all, except the second one (if you play Loen or the Fae), where you either have to become lucky to fullfill it, or send your Lord on a world journey.
And at Last, yes I now they are all about cav, but it would be nice, if there were at least some kind of Infantry Units wich aren't completly obsolete after turn 50, or needing to spam an insane amount of max lvl armoury bulding to give them a fighting chance.
Also, a thing that made them kinda special, with beeing able to have walls at a smaller settlement through a maxed garrision building, also got removed. And the whole "annexation research" is useless, because even if you rush it, all bretonnian factions without a legendary lord, are dead already (I have never seen one survive past turn 10).
I could go on, but thats already a wall of text and more than enough to make point. :)

Tbh I definitely want to see a champions of chaos like dlc for undead as a whole maybe making some shared mechanics (maybe having a reworked necromancy mechanics similar to that one mod)
Have it introduce nagash as his own faction with unique mechanics, but have him sort of be similar to the demon prince in that he takes a bit from all the other undead (with maybe some special things/ror)
Vampire coast I think could maybe use a legendary lord that could be based in Cathay/the seas of ind...maybe the faction having artifacts they can plunder from all the major factions unlocking new units, buffs, or abilities.
Tomb kings: I think could use a mechanic similar to the grudge system of dwarves that encourages them to travel across the globe not to find the books of nagash but rather artifacts stolen from their ancient empire. Maybe a new legendary lord based on that one dwarf tomb king in the gotrek and Felix book for the lols.
Vampire counts as a whole though need to be reworked to deal with some "messy" elements as well as definitely more expansion into the various bloodlines with legendary lords and heros.
Honestly, hot take...take nagash and just have them be the faction of "necromancers" and make it have benifits of vassalising other undead factions. Move kemmler and ghorst into it as well as maybe reintroduce count dracanfels to give that faction 4 lords with maybe the special ability to raise more undead lords from other factions bound under their dark magic and services.
Ultimately, I think tomb kings should have 5 to 6 lords
    Vampire coast 5 to 6
Vampire counts: 7 to 8 ish : vlad & Isabella, Manfred, aborash, nefferata, melkior, ushoran, and maybe a Cathay Vampire count.

Norscan monster hunts should all have the option to recruit the prey. Would make it alot more fun, as cross-faction monsters arent really a restriction with alot of other factions. It would be kind of cool for norscans to get a shaggoth, or a frost hydra to really customize an army.
And I think your going to like the Slaanesh character I suspect they will add. Dechala the denied one. She has really cool lore, asthetic, and a "vibe" to her and will probably triple the number of Slaanesh fans if she is added.
Vampires are indeed missing quite a bit, especially the Lamian stuff. I'd also like to see Ghorro's added as a cav-based beastlord before this trilogy is done. Hoping for Arbaal with the Khorne stuff, and waiting for the next DLC before I start playing again....Taking a break to play other backlog games.

random thought about tk rework: what if every building for constructs gave a buff for every unit that it gives capacity for that stacks infinitely.
like, every ushabti building gives +3 Melee attack, +3 Melee defence and +5% weapon strength

As someone who plays Slaanesh they definitely need a new unique starting location. Some more chaos v chaos perhaps. They also need to make seducing units use something other than gold because it never feels good to have to sit on your bank in case a battle pops up. The amount of disciples you get in the mid game if you’re spamming cults and marks of Slaanesh with hero’s is excessive. Slaanesh heavily relies on warriors of chaos units and needs other damage dealers or they need to fix the chariots. It’s super awkward wanting more daemon units but they flop so hard it’s better to pick chaos warriors/chosen and then add in ally units because the Slaanesh roster with certain exceptions has huge holes. Early game without chaos warriors it is actually well balanced and fun between shielded marauders/daemonettes/cav.

CA could probably add the huscarls from the warriors of chaos arcane journal for the old world to the Norscan roster. While not full on heavy cavalry they do have heavier armor and that could obviously be increased specifically for the videogame.

I just hope Norsca gets some Norscan Whalers for some medium range poke in the future

Immortal, unchanging, eternal. That's what the Vampire Counts are.
Ngl, as a fanatical Chad Von Carstein player (and NEVER touched other VC lords), I feel a sense of faction pride in just how well the faction held up.
Like sure, it got a minor rework, the Blood Kisses, buffs here and there to keep up, and like some standardisation stuff (ethereal units).
But besides that, it's the same faction since the bloody Grim&Grave DLC (pun intended).
I legit can't think of a thing I'd ask for. Maybe a unit like the Aspiring Champions, but vampires?
I guess we'd just need things to spend Blood Kisses on after unlocks. Maybe rework it into a skill-tree style thing? Maybe make some dummy strong RoR style units to buy with them?
For units, I don't even want the zombie dragon to be a normal unit, because as mount-only it has a real sense of majesty.
    Anyway /ramble

Norsca could really use an update by now. It hasn't had one since that taste of one it had since the start of warhammer 3 which did fix a lot of the combat but in my honest opinion norsca could use at least as many lords as the beastmen and at least one legendary hero.
