I've had one of these for more than 6 months now and listen to mostly UK and NZ stations here in Taiwan all day, 7 days a week, buy one, they are brilliant!
This is the second time I’ve watched this video. I was streaming from a phone to a bluetooth speaker, but now I think an internet radio would be more efficient. At my house the FM reception is spotty at times. I’ve tried several portable radios with mediocre results. I’m putting my order in today. Thanks Record-ology!
I've casually explored internet radio through my Yamaha receivers on many occasions. I have found the stations to vary widely in quality (like you said) but there is a lot to choose from and I am always discovering something new. It kinda harkens back to my shortwave receiver days when I would be up at 3am, fascinated by the foreign stations I was pulling in. That said, I like this device and I think I may get one for when I am out on the porch away from my system. A nice review. Thx.
Bought it (Before I saw your video), have it, LOVE it, RECOMMENDING IT, buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) I have four (4!) of the models shown in the booklet beside the one reviewed and I love them all. I leave it plugged in. That's absolutely fine to do.
With favourite and message centre, it looks like they’re hoping that Techmoan will review this!!! 😂😂😂 Recordology’s dream stations: 1. Exclusively Glenn Miller 2, Glenn Miller today and yesterday 3. Glenn Miller talks about his dog 4. Glenn Miller takes out the trash 5. The best of Glenn Miller done by Snoop Dogg 6. K-tel’s The Best of Glenn Miller-30 seconds per song (Sorry-I couldn’t resist!!! It’s all tongue and cheek!!! 😂😂😂)
I have the WR 210N. Some of the stations are the same as shortwave radio such as ERT Greece, R New Zealand and BBC. This radio is very useful. Like the idea of a devoted internet radio. Takes unnecessary wear and tear off of your phone. I personally don’t like using the phone as a radio. This is a great idea. Glad to see that some manufacturer got this thing right. I like to send the audio through a larger speaker system.
I order this today Sept. 29 2021 , i had one by Grace Digital , you know that radio you showed with Carol Burnett , it was designed like that one , i got about 8 to 10 years , it cost twice as much as this one you are reviewing here , that one it could get 50,000 station , but that didn't me much good , about 3 fourths were in other langues other then English , i am doing good do understand that 😊, the Design is a 1941 retro old fashion radio , a good wooden cabinet , even though it is having issues , it did my very well , i got money worth out of it , but i am looking forward to getting this one you did review on , good video presentation .
Reminds me: around 2009, I had purchased a device called, the, "Myine IRA (Internet Radio Adapter/Appliance [was one or the other])." It was a small, upright device, w/ a blue-on-white LCD display & remote. It was similar to the audiostack device shown in that brochure. And about 3 years ago, I replaced it w/ a Bluetooth adapter & donated it to Goodwill.
Not only that, if Skytune ever shuts down, this is going to be tough to use at all. Also, not all stations are on Skytune. There is apparently a way to add stations by submitting the url to Skytune, but I'm not sure that they will add ANY station you request.
@@m.k.8158 True. I just make a playlist of all my favourite internet radio stations and play it through a HTPC or other media device that can play it. Though its tough keeping up with all the changes as stations come and go all the time as well as change stream URL and add new stations. Though stand alone Internet radios are good if you can add your own stations and sort them for easier finding. Whilst not being limited to the number of stations you can add.
LIKE number 8 which is pretty great, albeit a little bit late. I never would've guessed an internet radio. I was imagining Recordology scooping up an 8-track player/recorder. :)
I like internet radios, program fav stations & just flip it on whenever you like without needing apps & bluetooth all the time blah blah. I have an Aiwa branded one very similar to the one here hooked up to a stereo in my backroom, they are hassle free imo cool review mate.
This is useful, even connecting this with an Ethernet LAN input is something I want. I think I like listening to Tokyo Japan or Germany radio stations.
My favorite radio is satellite, there is a way to get Sirius using the Internet You pay but it's more affordable than using TRUE dedicated satellite. Changing channels on my cell is much faster than using satellite hardware. Since I do most of my life in my small town I do it on my scooter and I have a Wi-Fi to phone connection to listen to my satellite while I'm riding. Just about the only reason I have the satellite radio is because of the raw comedy which is very raunchy. But there's other music that I like and you get tired of different things so I like to have a good variety. For roughly $5 a month it's my little luxury.
Fully expected to see you hauling out the Loch Ness monster on the end of your new fishing Rod there, but it was not to be....I must admit i was very surprised to see you purchased a new lake, with mountains.....Thought maybe you might have gotten one of those Internet Radio`s that can pick up in excess of 22,000 stations.I have one,but it can only pick up 21,999 stations and every last one of them is limited to playing two artists only, and we know who they are..so i never bother listening.Have fun with your new device Sir Ology of Record....
Tell Wiffy I would buy every king of internet radio boom boxes they used to call them. I had one way back miss it :) Pandora Radio PBR something it was called :) c it had the thumbs up and down buttons too was classic :)
Slightly late, but a really cool video. Not at all what I was expecting. Sorry I missed the live stream the other day, I got the notification, I just didn't see it until it was over 🙄
Thanks for the review. If using this as a stationary radio is it safe to leave it plugged in 100% of the time with no danger of the battery overheating and potentially starting a fire?
I've got two Logitech Squeezeboxes had them for years and Logitech still support them. Have one at my desk can just turn it on and hear my favorite sports stations in another city. It's just easy to use.
Amazing video as usual, this would be very useful for someone (like me) who works abroad. I have a question, though: can we add custom urls for stations that are not included in the Skytune portal? Keep up the good work!
I like Accuradio 60s and 70s oldies. Would this radio receive these stations. I have a ton of tunes on my wmp. I do have the tunes backed up on a external HD. I am trying to find stations that play lost 45s or under the top 20. Are there any stations like that?
Can I turn on and off or switch between channels via a mobile phone app? The reason I ask is I'm often away all day and would like to turn radio on or off or select channels to start at varied times through out the day and play. I have pets home alone all day and they behave well and relax and don't become depressed and develop anxiety with a radio playing softly in the home.
It would be great having something like this on my car stereo without the hassle and cost of SiriusXM or using my phone's small included data. Yes, I know, we always want everything for free. 😔
Can you tell me whether it has Radio Sonder Grense (RSG) radio station. Under Africa, South Africa. My parents are old and they only listen to that station, but the FM reception is bad in their area. RSG however has an annoying non-standard internet radio interface.
The problem with these radios is that you are dependent on an internet database to use these radios. Many of us were burned by the reveiva shutdown. Unless there is a manual workaround just in case this happens again, I don't trust these radios anymore, even though I'd like to buy one.
More about me I am in 70380 Morgan City Louisiana we are approximately 80 MI west of New Orleans 90 East of Lafayette and approximately 60 mi south of baton rouge. You can catch stations here but it ain't easy. Since they came up with the internet ways of getting ready to it is so much better. Like I said satellites good radio but waiting for it to change channels is is a deal stopper I just can't.
Does the power cord bypass the battery because that's what I was looking for to and if it doesn't can you still leave the power cord plugged in after the battery has charged without damaging the battery.
Having to wait for changing the channel for me is a deal-breaker. I am doing okay with my satellite through Wi-Fi radio. If we have a shtf I do have shortwave radio and other units that I am able to go to I have some Harman kardon radio that I listen to that is FM and of course I am radio is my and of course I am radio is not a bad gig I found that driving and having any radio is better than no radio.
One speaker doesn't = stereo, a disappointment. For a very good internet website, I enjoy vtuner - quality sound. Select the station(s) of your choice. It would be preferable to type in the specific piece of music one would care to listen to, but not available. RUclips has specific music to select, but you only have what they have available - a good selection if it meets ones preferences.
This is all good but I got stuck with a internet radio that used the Reciva service that decided to go away this year. That makes my internet radio , that I took good care of, a paper weight. What’s to stop Skywave to decide some day not support the database?
@@Recordology that’s better so it’s not a total paper weight but it certainly takes away from the function of the radio if Skywave goes away. All that searching by genre and country/state will be gone.
Bose pisses me off with their EXPENSIVE replacement battery (you usually can't locally find one so you're forcied to order one)for the remote. I have a good radio love the sound but there's no way to control the device without a remote. Time for me to get a better radio.
I've been struggling with the idea of getting one of these but I don't understand what this can receive that I can't do with my cell phone and a bluetooth speaker. Can you add a website link for a specific audio?
I'd like to find an internet radio that also does both AM and FM with HD radio included. I can't find one that works that way, though, so I will probably stick to the web...:-)
I had Sirius when I was working, and stuck in traffic. Even in the car, I could tell the signal was compressed. I'm retired and no longer have Sirius, but I may consider this radio since local radio is dreadful.
I'm I the only one who thinks that having only four presets for a radio that can tune in tens of thousands of stations is an absurdly low number? Shouldn't there be like Twenty Six, Thirty Eight or Forty Two?
This is society's poorest radio, I think. It isn't our traditional analog. It also gobbles up ☝$60.00-$80.00 a month. Sounds like 👍 this become popular in 2005-2006. It's TOO digital for my liking 👍. I like 👍 dialing around on Chinese table radios 📻, the kind 👌 with knobs 👌. Those, such as from Radio 📻 Shack. Some favorites came out in 1998, or 1999, and I enjoyed what designs they had, until about 2003, or 2004. After this, things starting going downhill. I even remember a GREAT 👍 analog table radio 📻 that our next door 🚪 neighbor had. It was 1975, or 1976. I went over there for their GREAT 👍 apple 🍎 dumplings!! How quality has gone downhill since then. Your friend, Jeff.
Why do you say that? Thinking about getting one. Are radio stations not broadcasting on internet anymore? I’d like to find community non profit radio stations around the world. Thanks.

I had to laugh. 22,000+ stations and only 4 presets. That’s just cruel. Ha!

What happens when Skytune goes belly up? Ask us with Reciva based radios.
Internet radio is awesome, but what sucks is it's not totally free like regular radio since you have to pay for internet first

I love the Seeburg 1000 channel. (I'd love it even more if there were an option to cast the stream to my Google speakers.)

Hey Ralph! Hope you’re having a great day!
Can you do a review on radioshacks supersonic cassette player with Bluetooth??
Hi, just a quick question. Can you input an I.P. address into this radio? Thank you for the great reviews.
Yes you can! I know you can do it via the web interface and possibly the GUI as well.

My understanding of this (I asked the same thing) was yes.
I cant decide which 4 out of the 22000 stations to enter into the 4 presets
I have a Goodman internet radio the trouble is Reciva who supplied the stream has stopped working so it’s pretty useless now

why not just an app on your phone like radio garden with a bluetooth speaker? What's the advantage to this?

Nice review, does this radio allow you to add a network name as my Wifi network is hidden. Thank you
Good question - Im not sure!
Using headphones sounded bad on mine and had to send it back. Trying hard to find a good radio isnt easy

Is an app similar avaible for smartphone?
Good lord. That thumbnail is terrible. It's just as well the content is still good.
will it support Accuradio?
how's the sound?
Remarkably good actually for its size.
Hello sir greetings, I am a blind person from KALIMPON zee India I would like to have that radio please send me the link thank you sir.
Analog radio s still will the best

Looks like a Sony remote.
Not good I had put a new battery 🔋 in it myself but nobody understands how to this one is not for you
