Yuji Naka said they lost it right? I'm willing to bet it'll be in some Japanese collector's hands, so if this individual were to auction/sell off games or pass away we'd probably get it in a similar situation to the Pokémon GS Spaceworld prototypes.

And that is it for 2021 Sonic.
3 things happened in 2021 regarding Sonic, and they did absolutely nothing with it, we're only getting new stuff with the Sonic 2 Movie and Sonic Frontiers game in 2022. So yeah Cybershell, hate to burst your bubble but sonic did nothing this year.

I saw the Hidden Palace stream which was really cool. However, what really got me, was the people freaking out at the end of the stream. They had a timer count down to them releasing the rom on their site. Though literal seconds after the timer hit 0, several people in chat were already acting like their year was ruined because they couldn't download it. Some were thinking that they lied about releasing it. They just had to wait a few moments...

Y'know, there is something particulary fascinating with the GC Sonic Mega Collection version of Sonic 1, im not sure if its the same for the PS2 version but i did found it quite interesting.
When you complete Sonic 1 in the GC version of Mega Collection you can see the beta sunflowers on the ending but not on the stage itself, which tells me that they never got rid of the original color for the sunflowers from the beta but merely put them on the ending instead.
Also that Sonic CD intro looks awfully familiar to the GC Sonic Mega Collection one just sharper, but i tell you its in the same exact quality in that game.
The rom in all versions of Mega Collection are the same as the Genesis version. It's the REV01 cartridge put onto a GameCube/PS2/Xbox disk and emulated

People more excited about Cybershell in Sonic 1 Prototype chat on Twitch than most of the prototype content.
Those UFOs in Marble Zone are kinda similar to the lamp posts in Studiopolis Zone in Mania, though the lamps in Mania rotate in the opposite direction and the center is a smaller glowing yellow ball. Might be a stretch to say it’s a reference, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was.
What became the checkered ball on what became that slope in GHZ is what's on Yuki Naka's TV monitor in that video clip.
