Well the more faded they are the more brittle they are. The signals are part of the package. I also don't think Mobotrex Signals are on the approved vendor list for the New Cobalt controller so the old signals don't comply with UL listings.
They are just sun faded. Does not necessarily equate to brittleness. Usually the plastic gets more orange as it gets brittle. MDOT can purchase from Eagle and from Econolite as there are two central systems in place - Siemens Tactics and Econolite Centracs. Cobalts are going in and have a connected vehicle processor to eventually talk to vehicles directly about signal phase and timing. The new standard controller is Econolite, but Siemens M50 and M60 are still used. Previous standard was EPIC140 but they are very limited compared to a Cobalt or Siemens controller.
@@NickBasilico I thought that only Econolites could be used with the Econolite controller and only Mobotrex/Siemens could be used with Siemens Controllers. I saw your comment on a different video. I guess both Mobotrex and Econolite can be used on the Cobalt controller then?
Correct. The controller does not necessarily need to be the same brand as the signals. Essentially all the signals are doing is housing the LED module made by another manufacturer (these are Dialight LEDs). The controllers are just switching circuits on and off, regardless of brand
Wow!!
Wow, another decent set of lights removed! Unreal!

Indeed!
That's near Dexter
I wonder what will happen to the older cluster signals (they look like Durasigs)?
Probably 🫠 them and make new ones 😁
Have you filmed any incandescent signals this May?
😁😉🚦🚦💪
Did you stick around for the removal? Please upload it next if you did!
I didn't I wish I would've 😔
When were the new signals turned on in this video?
They was turned on that day unfortunately I didn't catch the first boot up time
Bye Old
