This interesting side of Spiritbox!
I had very much mixed feelings about this one but it did sharply change the more I got into the video.

I've watched this performance so many times and it gets better every time. Its a masterpiece. It really showcases Courtney's vocal range and the bands vast range in talent. The guitarist Mike , who is also Courtney's husband actually wrote and composed this entire instrumental and does for all their music. He's a great musician and composer. Plus, Courtney just throws it over the top with her beautiful singing voice and terrifying screams.

This is all three parts as well as an interlude between part 1 and 2. Originally, they planned to do the whole EP, but there were some technical issues, so we didn’t get Aphids or Beauty Of Suffering.
The bit at the start and between parts is an actual spiritbox, which is a radio that flips between channels to relay messages between the living and dead worlds. Also, the Mara is an interesting thing that’s worth researching. Don’t wanna ruin anything, but it might give you more insight into the music. To give the slightest bit of context, the three songs are written about a friend, and former bandmate of Courtney and Mike from when they were in Iwrestledabearonce, and something he suffers from on a regular basis.

I really appreciate it when people go into more detail for me about these songs as they always have a lot of meaning behind them.
I don’t think people thought this was my ‘cup of tea’ but I was enjoying it more than anything. I cannot stand when others do reaction videos and constantly stop and start the song, so I chose a different approach.
I think my lack of understanding of the song showed and that was my main issue, I think researching a little more into the songs to find out if they have a meaning would benefit me more but also, to new comers just like myself to understand and like it the way I do ❤️

Yeah, that 3rd part draws me in. Unsure at first, then I just let it soak. Feels like we're in on their jam session mode. Glad to catch this.

You have barely experienced Spiritbox, that's why you're not conditioned for what the band actually is which is geared toward genre fluidity. This is their more progressive style... which they say they want to pick up again on the next album. If this isn't your thing, cool. But there is a lot more to Spiritbox than the hits.

You’re correct, I’m very new to this band and I’m still getting the vibe of their songs. Despite my quietness I did enjoy it but found it hard to vibe with unlike the others. I think the more I listen to it the more I’ll like it!

@@JuliettJess Yeah. Songs like this probably need a few listens anyway. Plus, this is 3 songs in one sitting. It's a lot to take in. Like, you probably should have done each song as its own video and not marathoned through 3.

First time hearing The Mara Effect so it may take a bit to grow on me, especially since I'm not used to that vocal pitch or tempo from Courtney. Her husband Mike has always had good taste in guitars, he recently got a custom piece which he showcases on their channel

At first I only liked the 3rd part with those incredibly intense growls at the end, but the more I listened to the whole piece I was hooked. The only thing I still dislike is the static radio noise in between parts. I understand this is to mimic an actual spiritbox device but I just find it annoying.
When I first saw them live in may 2022 they played part 3 😄 but their gear and microphone stopped working in the middle of the song, we could only hear the drums and they had to stop the song, wait for their equipment to work again and skip to the next song without even playing this epic ending 😢 I have a video of that moment on my channel

Agreed. It wasn’t as joyous as my others videos but you can’t like them all straight away unfortunately 💁🏻‍♀️
