same bro....same..
One of the scariest moments I've had while camping occurred deep in a Western Australian forest, hundreds of kilometers from civilization. It was a desolate area with no signs of human activity for hours. An eerie feeling crept over me as I started unpacking my gear. Something just didn't feel right. I began walking down the trail, and after a few minutes, I realized why everything felt off: there were no sounds of birds or insects. Even the trees seemed unnaturally quiet; as if they were afraid to make a disturbance. Every time I took a step, it sounded like a step was taken behind me, only for me to turn around and see nothing.
I'm a 35-year-old, 6'2" guy who can handle himself pretty well. But anyone who camps alone knows that sometimes your nerves get the better of you. There's something primal in your brain that reminds you of your vulnerability in the wild, the need for shelter and sustenance. So I brushed off the uneasy feeling and pressed on. I tried foraging but found nothing. Fishing proved fruitless as well. I settled for a bit of hiking before calling it a night and setting up camp.
Around 2 a.m. I was abruptly woken by shuffling noises outside my tent. I lay frozen, listening intently, my heart pounding in my chest. The sounds were human-like, but there was something strange about them, as if the person was purposefully avoiding lifting their feet off the ground. After a tense moment, I mustered the courage to switch on my flashlight and called out, "Is someone there?" The shuffling ceased, and a heavy silence fell upon me. Then an unexpected aroma - of freshly baked pastries. Like a morning bakery. The scent was so strong it made me salivate.
Suddenly, I heard a noise, like a heavy object being dragged away at speed. As the sound faded into the distance, so did the enticing aroma, replaced by a chilling drop in temperature.
For the next three hours, I remained wide awake, clutching my leatherman tight until the sun began to rise. I unzipped my tent, hastily exited, and scanned the area. I noticed some tracks near my tent, partially concealed by the foliage. I quickly packed up my belongings and made a beeline back to my car, my heart still racing. Threw my stuff in my car, and drove away.
I kept eyeing my rear-view mirror, checking the entrance to the carpark I'd just left, and I swear I saw something moving. Still have no idea if I just had a stroke or something, but it still gives me chills thinking about that feeling.
Also, just wanted to say I always love it when you hit us with some German!
What a story, man. So did you know what exactly is that creepy thing around you in the forest?
Sounds like a skinwalker
The samsquanch was there
Maybe next time put on night vision or infrared camera so you know what is visiting..

I feel like I’m watching Blues Clues for adults. You keep me excited the entire time. You’re enthusiasm is amazing. Thank you sir.
lmao
Hey Leif! I’m currently at the VA hospital getting help and your videos are helping me through this tough time. It was really cool yesterday the VA took us to a little stocked pond to fish. I caught 11 trout including my first ever brook trout! I actually caught 2 brookies. Both really really good size. They were all catch and release, but fishing like that and watching your videos made me feel at home. I get to leave in 3 weeks and man I can wait to get back out there and do some catch and cooks again. Thank you for your relaxing video content!! Fish on baby!!
Thanks for your service 👍👍
I would like to thank you for your service. Today is Memorial Day, and it is the dangerous work that you have done that allows us to be free and watch videos like this. God bless you and may your life be filled with joy.
Really means a lot to hear!! :) That's the coolest thing I've heard that they took you guys fishing! Wishing you a good recovery and thank you for your service my friend 🙏 fish on babyy!!!
Speedy recovery and THANK YOU FOR YOU SERVICE!!!
We are dealing with extreme circumstances as well and his videos give us great comfort. Thank you for your service my friend and prayers to you for a complete and painless recovery!
god i love this channel, the enthusiasm and love for nature is an absolute vibe producer
What an absolute honor, this hour long video was so awesome and an perfect way to end a week!! Those fish were crazy and you should definitely go back there and see what else is out there!!😆🎣🎣🎣
Leif you have truly shown you are the greatest fisherman ever! I’ve never seen anyone catch a brooky out of a tree!! 🤣 great video and so fun to watch as always ❤ fish on baby
😆 Thanks for enjoying!! Fish on baby!!
Yep. Who says fish don't grow on trees?
@@burleybater 🤣 let’s face it we’ve all been there! Lost many a rig in a tree but never caught, Leif is a genius 👍
I really love your videos. The enthusiasm, the excitement on how you love nature really makes the video entertaining and relaxing. I have no words for the beauty of the scenery. Keep em coming
Thank you, that really means a lot to hear :) Glad to share these places with you guys ⛰ 🎣
Your videos are my meditation videos. My whole childhood was fishing lakes, rivers and the ocean here in BC. My dad ran a fishing lodge in the 70s and was often on fishing radio shows. You're doing great work. When you clean up others' garbage you remind me of our family.
Thank you for the kind comment :) How awesome to run a fishing lodge. That would be a bucket list thing to do on day!
I’ve never seen anyone with as much enthusiasm for a fish on as Leif 💪💪💪 Seems like just yesterday you weren’t even at 100k subs WOW ❤
Man trout fishing just never gets old 😆 You've been subscribed so long... Means a lot 🙏 🎣
I'm old now but many years ago I was fishing at a very remote section of Upper Big Tujunga Creek. Fishing was good for wild rainbow trout. There was a huge boulder I had to circumnavigate in order to get to the next pool. As I rounded the corner I was suddenly knocked to the ground. I had collided with a mountain lion. We were both down. Before I could react the big cat took off. I vividly recall its incredible tail brushing across my face as it disappeared.
17:55 I could not help myself thinking about how dramatically terrifying and funny that looks at the same time, and then he just gets yeeted over the tree XD
An hour of you and your positivity is an awesome experience by itself man, you are an enigma dont stop being you!❤
The senior genius' technique of throwing bait by holding the lure backwards is very practical and precisely aimed at the target
We enjoy most your survival hiking trips, along with your stories and tips. Love 'em.
During a brief health issue, your videos have keep us motivated for our future adventures. Keep it up, we'll be watching and thanks😊
Love it when you get out there and do your thing. Can’t wait to watch this one! Cheers man
Cheers! Thanks for joining on the adventure!!
You are getting so good at making us feel like we are on the adventure with you. Thank you. I only get to spend about 10 days a year in the mountains but you make me feel like its more.
Means so much to hear :) Always glad to have you up there with me on the adventures!
So happy to see a brook trout catch and cook I never see these!
Hooray, a mountain lake episode! Woohoo! As a matter of fact, as you can tell from my name, yes I've seen three sasquatch and we have well over a dozen sites that we have had some sort of activity at (prints, structures, vocals). We heard two whoops - for the first time ever - on Saturday. You are as safe as you can be with your weapon and Garmin and ADHD situational awareness. I absolutely love your adventures - and your drone photography and your mad editing skills! I usually am armed out there in the woods - not for the sasquatch people or the bears - but for the mountain lions! Be safe & have fun. I have one of those packable Klimit backpacking kayaks/boats - it's really cool, and only about 3 lbs. Thanks for the awesome video!
9:13am here in Oregon! Thank you so much for sharing these videos. I’ve been watching all of them since I discovered you.
I’ve been a forager/wildcrafter camper/hiker here in the PNW for decades but just started fishing. It’s so intimidating and I have no one to teach me but I feel like your my teacher now!
I really appreciate when you remind us about the details like being quiet approaching the lake or what kind of bait to use. I don’t feel so alone anymore and feel totally inspired. I’ve been out several times since I started watching but still haven’t caught anything. But moving next week close to the Rogue and Illinois river.
Personally I’d like to see you go crabbing because that’s something I want to do and have never seen.
I think the little bug guy was a mayfly larvae. This episode was incredible, thank you for showing the beauty of Washington. It looks so cool up there like it might be under 75, helps me through my boiling hot Summer.
Never thought I would be spending my summer watching Joey Vottos long lost twin backpacking
Love love love campfire stories
These videos always make my day better, I'd love to see more of the western camp!
Western Camp update coming again soon :)
Hi Leif! The reason your old sleeping mat might have popped could be because you've been filling the mat with your breath (as a lot of people do). The moisture in one's breath is really bad for the materials in a lot of these mats (the TPU breaks down from hydrolysis, etc.), so I'd recommend getting a pump-bag for your mat which could also double as a dry bag when not in use.
Plus it's a very cheap low quality version.
Interesting! I'd never considered that aspect. Will look into that further, thanks!
You could try an old unsnagging technique: grab the loose line with one hand, put some tension on it and pull and release it with the other hand multiple times, kinda like playing a guitar. It makes the lure pop off of the obstacle. Works 95% of the time for me.
- 1:45 either someone planted those trees to rebuild the landscape or it was magic 🌳
These mountain adventures are so awesome! Great job
Thanks! :)
Love your videos been watching you since the beginning it’s crazy how far you’ve come keep up the amazing work
Thank you Hunter!! 🙏 means a lot to have you subscribed that long :)
So glad to see you back up in the mountains.
I got a camp fire story for you! When I was younger, my grandfather and I were out hunting in the middle of a national forest in a little two person camper, it was late one night and we had been in bed for a few hours when I heard walking around our camp. There was no other "humans" around us hunting, what made it scary is what ever it was actually tapped on our camper as to investigate what it was. God rest my grandfather he always said that was a big sasquach and he knew we where in his territory and as long as we threw a whole fish into the forest we would always be safe. That's my goose bump story! I still do that to this day I pay respects to the forest by offering up what extra fish I catch.
Caught my personal best brown trout today (18”) ! This was icing on the cake when I got home and saw a new upload from you, best Memorial Day I’ve had so far! Keep up the amazing work! 🤘🏼
Always love the videos, your love and enthusiasm for fishing, wildlife and the outdoors is so contagious! Can't wait to get back to WA and try some mountain lakes... And my new crawfish trap🙂
Imagine hearing the song he sang after eating that brott thingy. Imagine being in a tent and hearing people singing that just walking through the forest. That’s terrifying yet so cool.
Your videos makes me forget about my problems. Love it
It was 2008 we were out hunting for Thunder eggs stones. My mom, dad, brother and nephew were with me. We all got to our location in the Ococho forest in Oregon. We started digging in pits that other dug at before. After about an hour of us Digging we heard a bellowing yell, you could feel it in your chest, sounded very monkey like but almost Female. Was not a Cougar or a bobcat something way different. All of our heads popped out of our holes like gophers. Me my dad and brother all looked at each other and said yep its time to go. Hair on our arms standing straight up we promptly left the area and headed back to town. I have no ideas what could scream as loud as it did. Have never gone back there it scares me so much.
i love how you put in so much effort into your videos you have amazing shots its so pretty
Thank you Treva!
The Bob Ross of the fishing world. Love it.
His excitement and enthusiasm for every moment, whether it is for fail or victory, makes it fun to watch. Keep it up brother!
Your videos always make my weekends even better man. I just moved somewhere there are lots of great ocean and freshwater fishing places, so I just started my fishing journey. My first fish caught was a sting ray lol
Thanks that means a lot to hear! And congrats, I've never caught a stingray before!!
Man that must've been a heck of a first fish battle, rays are chock full of explosive energy and have lots of endurance too boot. First one my dad ever caught was like a three hour fight.
But I bet you're hooked on fishing after that experience haha
@@100GTAGUY Yeah it was pretty fun, it was relatively small and still took me about 10-15 mins to get it in, luckily though I had the shop I went to set up the rod, line and everything so it was set for catching snakehead but there are a ton of rays around. Kinda seen as a nuisance fish here but it was still very fun. My next trip out I want to go for some perch fishing which is common here in MD.
I was relieved to see that you carry a sidearm. I don’t catch every episode so this was the first time I’d seen it. What caliber is the Glock?
We live in a wild place and gotta take care of ourselves out there. Just a 43x in 9 which will do for it's intended purpose 👌
Sasquatch stories - bring back memories. Mine is kind of lame, in a way, and in another way, fun to recall.
The summer I was 15 I read the book of the guy who was Canada's leading sasquatch authority at the time.
Loved the book. Great book.
Three years later, the summer I was 18, I met the daughter of this author on a train going out west to British Columbia.
On my way back east near the end of the summer, I jumped off the train and walked through the night from Chilliwack in southern BC, about 12-15 miles up the back highway to Aggasiz. And then the very next day got to take a trip about another 10 miles up that highway to Harrison Hot Springs.
Because Peter Green, the author of that Sasquatch book, was running the local newspaper in a small office right on the Main Street of Harrison Hot Springs.
I showed up (after his daughter gave him the heads up) and I got about 90 minutes of his time to sit and chew the fat.
The one thing that I remember is how he sort of burst the bubble. According to him, an average sasquatch had about the same intelligence level as an average moose. I was devastated, sort of, but I got over it.
All these years later I still remember the details of that day.
Needless to say, all the dark and lonely nights spent camping in southeastern Alberta, and down in southern British Columbia, it was bears (black and grizzly) wolves (timber and gray) coyotes (a bit) and especially mountain lions that were on my mind, a lot more than sasquatches. I was lucky, I guess. Never came across any of them in the wild.
In fact, I had more encounters with black bears in the wilderness and on the edge of the town I lived in growing up in northern Ontario. Many a time I shared the same giant blueberry patch. I'd be at one end and one or more black bears would be at the other end. Me filling a pail. The bears eating as they went. We each knew the other was there, but we ignored each other.
I gotta say, after however many months now watching these videos, I almost feel a familiar connection, like part of me is there in the video (invisible) seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting it all from the inside out. These videos are something I often watch late at night when I can't sleep.
Eventually they calm me down, something so mellow and easy. This is the real thing - and it is the genuine quality of what is presented that does the trick. Thanks for all this. It serves a good purpose.
Your knowledge of plants and edibles that are readily available .
I love that you just walk and eat!
Plus your know when to eat or not to eat!
Start a school with the knowledge you carry
Hey mate, I’m a new subscriber . I always loved adventure but never been actually able to experience one. But ur videos are actually giving me that vibe. I really appreciate ur effort on sharing this with us. Hope you keep posting and wish u a very best on ur future journeys. 😊
Thanks for the kind comment man! :) Glad to have you subscribed and I can't wait to share the next one with you! 🎣
Nothing like a 1hr catch, cook, and camping video 😎
First one was a damsel fly larva, similar to a dragon fly but they are the small blue and red ones. One of my scariest moments was walking out of one of the big Puget Sound "S" rivers during the spring steelhead C&R season in the late 90's. I fished a little too long, it got dark, I had no light, and the trail was overgrown with brush so you couldn't see anything. All I could think about were the cougar tracks I had seen down river the year before. I stepped over a bush and a grouse flushed from under my feet. Scared the $#!+ out of me! Those little birds have scared me way too many times.
While searching for a mysterious lake in the Mt. Baker wilderness I came across a tree 6" wide snapped and twisted in the opposite direction of an avalanche would go.
Definitely a believer when it comes to Sasquash.
Man that would give chills to find that....
Let go we got more mountain vids🎉🎉

I've never seen someone so repeatedly surprised by how hot fire is 🤣
Wow what a save on that second catch!!! You are very skilled sir!!!
Btw thank you for your stories!! Stay safe and sound on your adventures!!
those initial 2 fish caught were insane. your channel is by far my favorite on youtube
Awesome Awesome video man! I really enjoy watching your content!!!
LOVED the "tree" brookie. Best catch I've ever seen filmed. Keep it up, tight lines!!!
The fish hanging from the tree was pretty funny lol
This is such a comfort channel.
Everytime you say "epizode" I die a little on the inside 😂 I love your content
Great stories pal. Love your content and simplicity of the show. No egos. Just like real life.
That said, I have spent most of my life in the woods. Working as a logger in the Tongass, trapping since I was 12, in the Chugach range. A bunch of solo stuff. I was never afraid, even when I was unarmed, which was rare. I never saw hide hair of big foots. I walked my mule once around a sketchy steep mountain trail once upon a time and came face to face with the most feared critter in the far north....an angry chittering chimpmonk!!!!! I'm 65 years old.
Das ist gute, Leif!
Spoiling us with long videos every Sunday! This is gonna be a good one
You are truly one of my favorite subscriptions! You're surrounded by such beautiful country and you share it with us. THANK YOU!! I LOVE your catch and cooks. It always makes my day when I see you have a new upload. Sometimes I watch them two or three times.
I was cracking up @ about 30 minutes in when you were making your coffee. You sacrifice good sleep by bringing that flimsy little air mattress, to save space and weight to haul your French press. Now there's a guy who loves his coffee!!! 😂😂😂
AAAhhhh that's full of magical flowers
My happy just came back, I love those mountain trout fishing episodes, especially now with the ghost stories by the camp fire. Take care of yourself and keep producing those great videos. I love the spinning rod and flyrod fishing in the streams and lakes in the mountains. Thanks
I'm glad I'm not the only one who also gets very excited on every fish we catch! Love it, haha.
😂 👌
the more stories you tell, the less you get scared but it also depends. It adds another whole new level to your videos too! Keep it up.
One of the freakiest sounds at night in the woods is the call of a porcupine. Sounds like a baby crying in the treetops. Talk about goosebumps!
I always look forward to your videos. Thanks for another great one!
A crossover with NW fishing secrets and Ace Videos would be epic
LOVE LOVE LOVE your content bro… thanks for the stories! More please!
Love it lol. Clips to “yeah it’s totally worth it” as he’s running down the hill. Classic true fisherman
Leif your videos are so awesome man! I'm always smiling cause your energy is amazing. Stay safe out there and fish on!
Bro we sit and watch your new EBISODES as a family!! All six of us!😎
Leif, just discovered your channel a few days ago, im binge watching it, it's top tear content. Im from Brazil and experienced almost the same glowing deer eyes situation as you, coming back from a night stand hunt i pointed my flashlight to green glowing eyes, my heart sank for a second and i got the most intense goosebumps of my life, just like you said. We have jaguars and mountain lions (puma) around here, so, it isn't so unlikely to cross paths with one of them at night. Cheers, keep up the great work.
YOU COULD LITERALLY CLEAN COW CRAP OUT OF THE STALL FOR A WHOLE VIDEO AND ID STILL WATCH CAUSE I ENJOY YOUR ENERGY SO MUCH. Thanks for all of your content
“Why do these rocks keep falling”
The skinwalker throwing rocks,
“That’s me bud”
Long time lurker chiming in just to say the macro-invertebrate you caught was a May Fly. Also, dragonfly larvea are called Gomphidae which is more fun to say :)
I just love watching you fish. Love your enthusiasm! It mirrors mine. Yes another video for the deep part of the lake.

Love the content man! Can't wait for more!
Wow i really enjoyed this episode! I love you humor and absolutely loved the scary stories🤣 it always makes my day when i see your videos. Thank you for these amazing videos.
I finally had a minute to sit down and watch the new episode. bro! If that brookie is there monsters lurk in the depths use some split shot weights and a small hook and a whole earth worm like the juiciest worm you can find hell put two of them on one hook slide one up the line then add another to the hook and slide the first worm back down you have a chance to catch 8lbs trout I'm so stoked dude those alpine lakes are a treat.
Interesting method on trout #2. Render the fish unconscious on the way back to you. Loving it. 😂
We are so lucky to have someone like you to show us how to enjoy nature and life. Your fan from South Korea.
