- I'm out fishing for BIG Trout in a pristine mountain lake filled with fish! I catch a new species of Giant Cutthroat Trout that has been on my bucket list for years... This giant Trout fishing lake is right by the NWFS Mountain Farm and I can't believe I've never gone fishing for Trout here!!

Sir, your life should be a "Nature" TV series documentary. You have traveled to some of the most amazing places, survived many nights in the wilderness and captured tons of great video/photos. Thanks for the excellent work. Did you know that Lahontan cutthroats are an endangered species? Is it legal to eat them?

They are not really endangered anymore, they have been planted throughout their old Great Basin range and beyond, there is a hatchery for them near Pyramid Lake, they were almost extinct at one time.

The original Lake Lahontan was an enormous landlocked Pleistocene lake that covered northwestern Nevada and extended into northeastern California and southern Oregon. 12000 years ago it was literally an inland sea encompassing 10,000 sq. miles with a maximum depth of nearly 1000 feet. No wonder the Lahontan cutthroat reached such a gigantic size!
As an aside, when fishing with spoons from the rocks in Baja I have found that wild, extremely erratic action can sometimes trigger a reaction bite.
And I'm wanting to try some lures I've been painting. Well, it's a lure that's like a Rapala and I'm pretty sure they would work well also. I like the high-quality shore access shown and I really wish I could go there. But I am not going out - I'm stuck at home pretty much indefinitely. 😃

Those “bucket list fish”are awesome once you achieve it.where I’m from there is a lot of lakes and ponds and one specific pond had the trout I have been waiting so long for, a brown trout so my dad took me there for my first time and I caught a 12.5 inch brown trout on a fly rod i felt great and it was all because of your channel

Those are lovely trout and can get to 20-30lbs in some spots I hear, yes biggest cuttie variety, cheers🎉. Edit: yes winter casting before or after ice is awesome as even Lakers can come up shallow then, it’s pretty easy with perseverance…

@LitaBrown-uh7rf lol, it can be tiring for sure…. 20-25lbs laker ice fishing, 25 lbs Muskie casting off a boat. Never caught one of those cutties though, but 1-2lbs westslope cutthroat in BC. I mainly just fish to eat small trout now.
@@NWFishingSecrets come across the eastern border into North Idaho. They pull some monster Lakers out of Pend Oreille.

Lots of good lakes on our reservation! Glad you visited one and it was good to you as you where to it! Definitely come back and do another especially a catch and cook! Try roofus woods also big triploids if your into catching them. Also fun fact sine its native American heritage month this lake and land its on is home to the Okanagan band!🤙🏽🤙🏽

Great video. Just got my first Lahontan and it was 13lbs. They love the flies!
I have been stuck inside for over 4 months due to my knee injury. My oldest son and I watch your videos and we are planning a backpacking fishing trip as soon as I am able to.
I live at home without friends, my family only likes my money, your life is a freedom that makes me want to enjoy it too, enjoy nature to relieve the burdens of life, but I can't be separated from my work and my responsibilities at home, watching your film is the choice I've been waiting for!
I love living in the inland NW, we have so many outdoor opportunities.
Go back to that lake again soon. I want to get back into backcountry fishing.
Loved it in my 20s thrue 30s. Then I got into white water kayaking.
Now in my 50s I wanna get back into that kind of fishing.
Now I have better gear and vehicles ...Although sometimes the journey was the most harrowing part of the adventure.🤣
