In retrospect, the Flinstones cigarette commercial is less cursed when you think about how it was originally a prime time show. It aired at like 8pm during its first run iirc

Something happened in society to make people think cartoons are just for kids. I don't know what, maybe Disney, but we've all suffered for it.

10:51 Actually back then, The Flinstones and all other cartoons at the time were more of adult cartoons since a majority of their audiences were adults. This of course changed, and now it is sorta strange to see how they went from Cigarettes to Cereal in decades time.

Flintstones wasn't a kids' cartoon. Like Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and many other older cartoons, they were meant for an adult audience. They only turned into kids' shows later when TV stations needed time fillers for cheap.

I remember seeing the one with the dogs and cracking up at my cousins house at “Hey doggie, time for your bath”
The Flintstones one is even more cursed when you know a little bit of backstory. So if you've seen the show, you know that Wilma and Betty have very unique laughs. That's because their original voice actresses were such heavy smokers that they couldn't laugh out loud without having a coughing fit. So they had to do what became their signature "closed mouth, quiet giggling" instead. And this is replicated in the 90s live action Flintstones movie, as well.
