  • 9 Different Weekly Layouts to try in your Hobonichi Cousin 2023
Join me as I talk about different weekly layouts to use in a Hobonichi Cousin (or any vertical planner). I enjoyed playing with the layouts and seeing what I could up with... what type of layouts do you prefer to use? Vertical, Horizontal, Hobonichi Weeks, Dashboard or a variation of any mentioned?

I like that the lines are visible but very subtle. The only things that I cover when using an alternate layout are the dates but I always keep the small monthly calendar - it is ver handy to me

This was such a great video! I hope it finds a lot of people. If people approached their planners this way there would be a lot less planner hopping. I did the same thing in my cousin weekly for the first few months of last year- I’d change layouts and try it for a few weeks etc. I ended up liking the layout of a Nolty planner. It’s really easy to draw into the cousin (I think I draw in 5 lines) and I really don’t mind doing it so I can continue to have the daily pages.
I’m not sure if you’ve heard of her but there’s a RUclipsr who used to post videos about uses for the various Hobonichi planners. She highlights how flexible they are. I think it’s Yokiko sakamura (I could be off). I think you would like her. Her videos are dense with possibilities.

I’d forgotten about the FESS method, I’m not a video maker I can use this for the steps needed to be done, e.g., when at the hospital, a clinic, etc. excellent. You do the FESY method (film, edit, schedule, RUclips

I love a gator mouth journal😊 I’m so torn between a full cousin or an avec.

Still watching but love the word of the day page, the foreign words/elvish page, and the book review spread!❤🎉

My brain tend to think vertically as well; however, I too am easily bored and need interest to keep me coming back . In music, I tend to love variations upon a theme (can you tell that I grew up around lots of jazz and blues - originally from New Orleans) - but I now know that that’s what works for me in a planner. The ability to change it up and experiment. My favorite is usually a variation of the “dashboard layout” which does combine the best of both vertical and horizontally- no matter what my needs are that week. My on absolute in my spreads is incorporating the small monthly calendar at all times - great for reference, etc. I typically frame or highlight it. As usual, my friend Johanna has made an excellent video with lots of great ideas 😊

Thank you for these ideas! I will try the one where you have the week on one side and blank page on the opposite. Might be just what I've been looking for!

I'm going to use a Cousin Avec for 2024. It will be my first. I do like that dashboard layout in the weeklie. great idea!

Loved your suggestions. I always draw a 7 day horizontal because something about vertical planning. Even when I used ECLP I would draw some blocks. I want to try the Weeks imitation and a couple of the dashboards. I use for traditional future planning of meetings and tasks in a business setting.

Funny, smite and smitten mean the same to me, that’s the traditional use in literature, I love word origin but I totally missed that one

What do you use as a blotter for ink play?

BTW, isn’t it great that there is variety - I really dislike Moleskin and love Hobonichi because of the paper and that it lays open and comes in a variety of colors.
