I loved the cousin this year, but did struggle with how to use the weekly layout. I just started using it for a journal prompt a day and have been loving that!

Great video! Watching planning videos sometimes makes me feel even more lost re using my own cousin, since I have no school, small business, or children to plan for 😅 That being said, even w little planning to do, I've found the cousin to have the perfect amount of space for everything.
    If anyone finds this useful:
all my actual planning just goes in weeklys, since I don't have much on, and it actually encourages me to assign time blocks and be more productive. The dailies get used for daily journaling. having these in the same book is the main reason I got the cousin. Aside from that, 'yearly overview' gets used as a habit and finance tracker, (again, I don't have much and they both fit there) and the monthly pages are useful as symptom/health trackers. Extra pages all get used as some journaling variations (books I've read, journaling ideas/prompts, pen swatches, etc.)

Oh no! Hope the video didn't make you feel too lost! I love you're using your Cousin, and it's not too dissimilar to how I've used mine when it's been my main planner in the past. I'm intrigued as to how you use the monthlies as a finance tracker, though? Do you log your spending in there or just budget planning/bills?

@@lethbridgepaper Not long at all! 😅 That's why I appreciated this video so much!
sorry if it wasn't clear, but it's the yearly overview/vertical monthlies I use for finances, not the monthly spreads. Though I do think that you probably could do something similar in the monthlies, I prefer the vertical layout for numbers.
I just do daily total in/out (ie. if i get paid £500 one day, but spent £70 shopping on the same day, it's just getting a green '+£430' next to it. If I had to pay £500 rent on the same day, it's getting a red '-£70'). I figure out the monthly total on the bottom, so I can easily see each month if I'm spending more than saving.
For other folks, this might go better elsewhere, but I really don't have many ingoings/outgoings, so it makes sense for me to just fit it there, instead of dedicating its' own space elsewhere

Oh I see! That's really interesting and I really like that way of doing it! I've done budget planning on the yearly overview or monthly but have never found a way to incorporate spending as bucket up my spending into categories so I need potentially a lot of room each day (as there's four different categories I track).

That's the great thing about the cousin, put everything in one book 📖

I have a hobonichi cousin as a familyplanner. It is always in one spot for every familymember to see and fill in. So we know what to expect from eachother.
I have a hobonichi week for all finances and the mealplanning with shoppinglists. To track where the money disappears to!
For my personal planning cq journaling I use the hobonichi planner. As you can see I am a hobonichi fan😊

I love that you have found a cool use for every size! The A6 is just one I've never been able to gel with, which is such a shame really.

Excited for this! I bought a cousin for fun because I love the book, but it's not going to be like a 'must keep up' - more so I want to just experiment and play. It's not part of my daily line up, really. This gives me some fun ideas to play around with!

Oh I love that! I've kind of bought a Cousin for similar reasons this year - no real planning requirements and I can't wait to get into it!

You can try the avec if you're overwhelmed with the thickness. The only difference, you'll have 2 books; each book is 6 months.

Yeah I've had an Avec in the A6 sized but for what I use the Cousin for I like to have everything all in one book. It's only really been this year where it's been a massive issue as I've bulked it up with lots of photos and things.
