@2:25 fun fact, getting out of the car one foot at a time near that power line, unless 50 feet away, wouldve shocked her instantly if it wasn’t a video game. Was a railroad worker. We had the power line come down once. Everyone stood still for 2 hours before someone came and shut it off. We could have done what you said but we didn't want to risk anything.
@@ranimeRAT Electricity requires a complete path to flow. Keeping both feet on the ground and close together keeps them both electrically common, meaning there will be no voltage between the two points, and so no current to create an electrical shock. Same logic behind how birds sit on power cables without frying themselves. It works a bit different on the ground though, as electricity moves through the ground in pulses/ripples, so if your feet are apart from each other, one may be in a slightly different voltage zone than the other, causing a current to flow through the person, electrocuting them, hence bunny hopping is effective, if risky, as it keeps both feet together, ensuring they are in the same voltage zone, so no current will flow.
Not Jack telling me "creatures of the night are lurking" after I had to pause mid-episode to bang on my windows and door, late at night, just to scare off a javelina eating my mom's bird seed and plants. Talk about top notch usage of the pixel art medium. Especially with how they managed to give it that old school black & white CRT TV vibe and effect for the first section. Love to see it. 👌👌
Yeah and also how it straight up murdered both Veronica and Mrs. Jordan, who I believe take care of the kids from time to time, or atleast Veronica does, but the creature turns the kids into the art on the rock like it was a weird family photo
my guess is the previous Nanny had an affair with the father. The mother found out, murdered her, and threw her into the lake. And now the Nanny is back to take the children. Either out of revenge towards the mother. Or because Oliver, or both of them, are actually her own children, born from the affair with the Dad. The latter option also would explain why the parents leave the children alone a lot, and under the care of another Nanny. The mother doesn't consider them her own children. Or might even hate them.
I have not been so freaked out by a game in a while. The first 2 storys were interested but the final one really made me feel uneasy, the amazing pixle style made the creature feel even more creepy somehow. And the rock at the end, jesus christ that is amazing
I'm an electrician. Yeah, if you cut any live cable this way, and if the security system doesn't trip for some reason, you'll probably end up blinded by a fierce ball of light, and burned by melted copper or aluminum, and also eventually electrocuted. Fun times.
I cant believe Jack was actually right in the 3d chapter, It actually was the nanny! also, if you don't know how it's the nanny, look at the jumpscare at the end, it had an eyepatch, long hair, and looked to be a zombie...
Damn I got actual goosebumps when they revealed the rock, I figured it was the Nanny, but it hadn't occured to me that she was taking the kids to join her on the rock, just chills.

Jesus... Those first two were pretty neat, and more goofy or satirical than scary (in my opinion), but that third one actually fucked me up, ngl. I felt like I was gonna have a heart attack during the buildup to the rock's reveal.
While the game itself does look absolutely impressive and really unique, Jack’s commentary manages to make the playthrough a lot more entertaining than it should have.

I'm surprised that Seán didn't notice that the ghost/monster had an eyepatch just like the former nanny. The photo in the dad's office had a lipstick kiss on it, suggesting that the dad and nanny had an affair. Something must've happened and the nanny was murdered, but isn't "dead". The Ouija board spelled "I'm not" as in "I'm not dead". The nanny came back to claim the kids.
@@AstarionWifey probably tbh, or maybe they just had an affair and she was too attached to the kids, but i think she threatened the dad that she would tell ppl about them and thats why he killed her
This last story was brilliant, dont know if anyone noticed or already sayed this, but here is my interpretation of that story: The dad hat an affaire with Mis Marquez, she herself got really attached to the kids because of sayed affaire, Mom found out and killed her in cold blood, which is why she came back and took the kids!
I think the dad killed her. Remember right before Oliver discovers the picture in his dad's office he briefly wonders whether or not his dad had every killed anybody. He may have been referring to war, but it's a good story telling tactic to kind of hint at what happened in that way. Perhaps Miss Marquez was going to confess or something.
If the dad didn't kill her -as suggested- I would say suicide - maybe from keeping the secret. When Oliver mentions her death it seems more like a suicide than a murder. Plus why kill Thomas's mom? She's relatively innocent in all of this as far as we know - but there is a hint that the doctor information Mr. Jordan got was that Thomas wasn't his son and killed himself over it. Thus maybe the babysitter killed Mrs. Jordan for betraying her husband? Or -based on how it looked- it's another suicide as a result of an affair. It really doesn't make sense why Mrs. Jordan was murdered since she seems to have had nothing to do with any of this - but it's an interesting tidbit that Thomas said his dad got information from the doctor and just shut down and cried and cut them off. When Oliver tells Thomas "Your dad loved you" - Thomas says "I don't know" which might suggest that the coldness from his dad wasn't like from getting a serious medical diagnosis of his own [i.e cancer or big like that] - chances are we find out Thomas isn't Mr. Jordan's son. Sadly without seeing anything of his dad, we can't go "Well mom is blonde and Thomas's hair matches Tina's so their dad was REALLY getting around". But the "Dad's Secret" achievement mixed with condoms and the picture of the nanny holding the new born Oliver [why isn't that the mom holding her baby] seems to suggest the rest of what is said here.
I think the correct solution to the code is use the code that corresponds to the date in the game. Near Richard's desk there's a calendar and on the list of codes the symbol above the numbers looks like a calendar.
25:09 Was I the only person that got this immediately when I saw the notepad? The tiny calendar symbol as you said corresponds with the date but as there were only 12 combinations and the date was the 9th of October then the code corresponds to months of the year.
that last story is literally the reason I stopped babysitting. I would get so overwhelmed at the idea of being the figure of authority, not to mention all the shit that goes bump in the night. I legit screamed when the rock was lit up and I saw the kids there
Me and my son (who's medically fragile) love watching your videos! When we saw Thomas on oxygen I cried! I'm so glad these developers of this game made some sort of awareness of what some of these kids go through. It's sad and hard to deal with. Just wanted to point it out 🙂
I like how you can see the improvements with each chapter. My fave was deff the last one. To me it has the most solid story to it and kept things ambiguous but still gives you almost all the answers to your questions
I have a theory about what happened in the last game. I think finding the picture of Miss Marques along with condoms is kinda weird, as well as it having an achievement called, "dad's secret". Why would those be in the same spot? Maybe their dad was having an affair with their old nanny and murdered her so his family wouldn't find out. That would explain the police cars outside her home when she "moved to Colorado". Then she came back from the dead and took his kids away from him as a final act of revenge. Hmmmm.
"You're about to enter... the Twilight Zone." "You're about to enter... the Scary Door." "You're about to enter... the Midnight Scenes." "You're about to enter... the Twilightober Zone." Jack narrating the eye was amazing voice acting! It felt like it he was in a old radio broadcast full of mystery. He definitely needs to get a major voice acting role.
I figured Linda out the moment she randomly ran into the "Clean Room" behind the scientist. Not to mention her car having signs of a struggle didn't make sense if the creature had killed her in the lab, and her insistence that he open the vault. There's also the obvious fact that she was messing with the vents while something was found thrown into the vent. The third story I had figured out except that the dad had an affair with the nanny, thus providing her motive for reclaiming her children. I wasn't sure it was the nanny behind it all until I saw the eyepatch when she grabbed Oliver.
I feel old saying this: point and click games with pixelated art and MIDI music (is that what you call it?) take me back to when I grew up playing games like Monkey Island, and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. Octavi Navarro has done an awesome job with creating these genuinely creepy Midnight Scenes games, and Seán's voice acting was so good as usual.
this video was a delicious treat. i adore the old school point-and-click style combined with simple, but spooky midi soundtracks, and "the nanny" had strong, memorable characters for such a short play time. also it reminded me of goosebumps, which was a huge bonus because i grew up on those books as well as the tv show.
this was so incredibly fucking good! It was like watching an episode of a horror show. I don't really have words for how amazing this actually was. I definitely need to support this person.
Oh my god I thought that narrator voice was a part of the game until Jack said something! This dude is an amazing voice actor! And he’s not even a professional one!
The plank without the nail just falling off the tree to the ground made me laugh so hard :D I don't know what I expected to happen it just was so funny
I love how perfect the subversion of expectations was in the quija board scene, where the board's moving and blood starts dripping. The impact of learning the bathroom was just upstairs and immediately connecting the dots was so good
I always loved watching The Twilight Zone, glad to see its aesthetics inspire someone today still. Thanks, Octavi! Thanks, Sean! Upd: Sean clearly watched Ace Ventura recently
The 2nd plane one, the few moments reminded me of the episode that occurred in a plane with Willam Shatner where our main “hero” spotted a creature walking on the wing attempting to sabotage the engine.
I gotta point out, I love Sean actually committing to voicing the characters dialogue. I got lost gaming on one screen, and forgot Sean was voicing a series of dialogue and i just thought i'm watching anime. Thing is its quite silly when you watch an anime voice actor in studio but also how comfortable they get and what people do to just vocally create a character. I dont know if Sean realized how fluidly he was just transition be tween voices and his own narrative voice to weigh in, but he does it very well and I love just getting immersed into any video game as such.
Hi, electrical apprentice here, if you see a downed power poll call your local police station and DO NOT go anywhere near it. if it falls on your car while you are in it do not try to get out, just call 911 (unless your car is on fire then try to get out, but as you do so don't touch any metallic part of your car and the ground at the same time)
I got the impression from that third story that the nanny and the father had some sort of connection. He had a picture of her locked in his closet in an old shoe box next to a pair of condoms. If it were with other casual photos of his kids, that'd be fine, but just one photo of her? On top of that, when you contact the nanny through the spirit board, she starts to say "I'm not". Seems likely she was going to say "dead" to indicate she was still around, but the leak from the bathroom cut off that answer. Best guess? The father and the nanny had an affair or some sort of event transpired, maybe he killed her, and she came back. Why she can create doppelgangers, idk. Maybe she is/was a witch and can take on other people's forms. She lured the babysitter into the woods, killed her and kidnapped the kids, taking them wherever the hell she is. Anyway, all of the stories in here were interesting. The first one's a bit simplistic and all of them (well maybe not the second) could do with just a tad more explanation (not too much so as not to spoil the fun, of course), but they were interesting and very well executed.
I hope the developer makes more midnight scene episodes, and I really want one about the kids again On another note, the theory about the dad possibly sleeping around with the first babysitter and doing it again but with Veronica ; the kids mention that her "boyfriend" snuck over the fence and that she didn't know how to use the oars What if the dead nanny disguised herself as the dad and lured Veronica into the forest to kill her? Oliver mention that Veronica looked confused...
That fist story reminds me a bit of those old movies..."Escape to Witch Mountain" and "Village of the Damned". Spooky kids doing spooky stuff with their spooky powers of spookery.
I wouldn't consider Escape to Witch Mountain spooky lol. Also these games are very much in the vein of "The Twilight Zone" hence the William Shatner quote about something on the wing in the second one.
The last game really reminded me of Mandela catalogue 😂😂 mostly bc of Tina playing with the same doll and calling him the doppelganger and also "her" appearing in the forest with Oliver even tho she's been at the campfire with Veronica the whole time. As well as Thomas's mom being dead in the bathroom. Its really cool honestly. The concept freaks me out a lot, but it's still a really cool concept for a horror.
Anything Twilight Zone related is amazing, and this game really hit that spot for me. Jack embodies that kind of unknown Twilight Zone fear really well too
The 3rd episode was definitely my favorite, but the 1st one still intrigued me the most! We went through the story piecing things together as we go along, but the ambiguity of it still had me thinking about it for a long time, as goes for the other episodes too.
much respect for you saying "help these creators out". I have a steam library full of horror games I have never played but bought after watching the playthrough just because I want to keep seeing these creators getting better and putting more stuff out. I’ve seen the developer’s art before from their RUclips channel/prints they sell, and LOVED their style. When I saw the first scene with Claire, I instantly knew whose art I was looking at and almost screamed lol

Why do you need both feet on the ground?
@@ranimeRAT if you don’t have both feet you can get electrocuted

Yeah and also how it straight up murdered both Veronica and Mrs. Jordan, who I believe take care of the kids from time to time, or atleast Veronica does, but the creature turns the kids into the art on the rock like it was a weird family photo
I think the dad was boinking the nanny and killed her in the woods cuz she was gonna tell the wife. So she got revenge by taking the kids.
@@ThaneofWindhelm what evidence is there of that? Like I can kinda believe it but I don't know if theres evidence of the nanny cheating with the dad
my guess is the previous Nanny had an affair with the father.
"Eugh, Oliver, it's a worm, eat it!"

Sooo is the nanny the mom?
@@AstarionWifey probably tbh, or maybe they just had an affair and she was too attached to the kids, but i think she threatened the dad that she would tell ppl about them and thats why he killed her
This last story was brilliant, dont know if anyone noticed or already sayed this, but here is my interpretation of that story:
The dad hat an affaire with Mis Marquez, she herself got really attached to the kids because of sayed affaire, Mom found out and killed her in cold blood, which is why she came back and took the kids!
That was my idea of it too, except I thought the dad killed her.
But the "Dad's Secret" achievement mixed with condoms and the picture of the nanny holding the new born Oliver [why isn't that the mom holding her baby] seems to suggest the rest of what is said here.
i think Miss Marquez is actually the biological mother of Tina and Oliver. and the dad cheated on her with his current wife, hence the condoms.
That would explain why he had a photo of her with the kids locked away in his office
Ye that was what i was thinking too, the code gets changed every month.

My fave was deff the last one. To me it has the most solid story to it and kept things ambiguous but still gives you almost all the answers to your questions
Can I just say, the added voice changes is such a neat idea. Made this so much more enjoyable!
Hmmmm.
Or rather, the wife found out and killed the nanny herself out of jealousy?👀 Either way I definitely believe she was murdered by either one of them
Ngl tho, Jack really did a good job on giving each characters a voice over.. very impressive 👏👏

Jack narrating the eye was amazing voice acting!

Hi, electrical apprentice here, if you see a downed power poll call your local police station and DO NOT go anywhere near it. if it falls on your car while you are in it do not try to get out, just call 911 (unless your car is on fire then try to get out, but as you do so don't touch any metallic part of your car and the ground at the same time)
No lie: I'd watch Sean do a Lego-building stream.
Oh fuck ya. It'd be perfect for background noise. Yk for homework or reading or cleaning etc
Yeah I would too
I got the impression from that third story that the nanny and the father had some sort of connection.
I hope the developer makes more midnight scene episodes, and I really want one about the kids again
On another note, the theory about the dad possibly sleeping around with the first babysitter and doing it again but with Veronica ; the kids mention that her "boyfriend" snuck over the fence and that she didn't know how to use the oars
What if the dead nanny disguised herself as the dad and lured Veronica into the forest to kill her?
Oliver mention that Veronica looked confused...
That fist story reminds me a bit of those old movies..."Escape to Witch Mountain" and "Village of the Damned". Spooky kids doing spooky stuff with their spooky powers of spookery.
I wouldn't consider Escape to Witch Mountain spooky lol. Also these games are very much in the vein of "The Twilight Zone" hence the William Shatner quote about something on the wing in the second one.
This has got to be my favorite Jack reading I’ve ever listened to. The voices were so entertaining! I want an audiobook voiced by him 🛸
The last game really reminded me of Mandela catalogue 😂😂 mostly bc of Tina playing with the same doll and calling him the doppelganger and also "her" appearing in the forest with Oliver even tho she's been at the campfire with Veronica the whole time. As well as Thomas's mom being dead in the bathroom. Its really cool honestly. The concept freaks me out a lot, but it's still a really cool concept for a horror.
I love the narrator voice you did for the eye. it sounds so cool, and it fits him perfectly it really looks like if it was intended
Anything Twilight Zone related is amazing, and this game really hit that spot for me. Jack embodies that kind of unknown Twilight Zone fear really well too
“There’s something on the wing…there’s…some…THING” had me rolling😂😂
The 3rd episode was definitely my favorite, but the 1st one still intrigued me the most! We went through the story piecing things together as we go along, but the ambiguity of it still had me thinking about it for a long time, as goes for the other episodes too.
