May 12, 2024. Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord.
    Readings: Acts 1: 1-11; Psalm 47: 2-3, 6-7, 8-9; Ephesians 1: 17-23 or Ephesians 4: 1-13 Mark 16: 15-20
The readings for the #Ascension of the Lord for Year B invite us to reflect on the power, authority, and mission that Christ entrusted to his disciples and continues to bestow upon us as believers.
In the first reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we hear about the final moments of Jesus on earth before his ascension. He instructs his disciples to wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit, empowering them to be his witnesses to the ends of the earth. As the disciples gaze up into the sky as Jesus ascends, two angels appear, reminding them that Jesus will return in the same way he left. This moment marks the beginning of the disciples' mission to proclaim the Gospel and build the early Church.

Ascension is neither on 05 nor 12 of May, but on 40th day after Easter. But usually celebrated on the Sunday before or after the actual day of Ascension in order to give priority for the participation of greater number of people on a Sunday.

Ascension Sunday is on the 12th (second Sunday) of May if I am not wrong.
