HELPING SOMEONE'S MENTAL HEALTH OVERGROWN YARD RESTORATION- PART TWO

  • This video is part two of the series and completes the front yard cleanup. I will be removing scattered debris amongst the grass, edging, mowing and completing some light garden work. I also tend to some yucca plants which haven't seen maintenance in quite a few years.
Please stay tuned until the end of this video as you will see an interesting sneak peak of the backyard as the front yard was just a warm up.
I thank this person for allowing me to clean up their surroundings. This person has expressed gratitude to have this work done. They have already set up the sprinkler to give this lawn a good drink after the cut back.
As mentioned in part one of this series, I will be donating $100 of the proceeds of these videos to Lifeline.

That was the most amazing job! The yard looks so good now. It was good for my mental health as I gazed at how lovely and neat it looked. Somehow it was very calming and soothing.
I do various things to keep my mental health good. Some are probably the result of getting older and just learning. I find it important to get enough sleep and to eat healthily. I don't put up with toxic people anymore, though it is easier now that I am retired. I pay attention to what I put into my brain, whether it's movies, music, books, etc. I'm not going to put crap into my mind. I like to keep up with current events but sometimes it's too depressing and I have to go out into the garden. That's my magic place. Listening to the wind in the trees and the birds singing, making a space beautiful, and just marvelling at the miracle of how a seed or bulb turns into a beautiful flower thrills me and I never get sick of it. I try not to dwell (ruminate) on old sad stuff. I've learned that our thoughts are powerful and make us feel either really good or really awful, so I try to switch them off if I can tell that I'm slipping into that old bad habit. Sounds silly, but my cat makes me really happy too.

No matter what it is, if I want to try something I haven't done before, I get my youtube education, and then I have a crack. I've also learnt from watching you and other lawn mowing content so I can tackle my yard in a more effective way. I love my gardening and take pride in my home. The little projects I do around the place make me happy. It's also the little things, like if its a nice day out take a moment to say what a beautiful day then take a couple of deep breaths. Enjoy that moment in time, and I appreciate how lucky I really am ❤

What helps my mental health? First and foremost is helping other people with their problems. I can't always solve my problems, but often I can help others solve theirs. Also, it helps to see progress in some objective. Also, cleaning is great therapy. Maybe that's why I like your videos. You are creating a neat yard, often out of chaos.

Hi Tyler, just simple up keep of bushes, trees and edging can make a house look so much better. I can understand how it can be overwhelming for individuals and you are definitely showing your love for people in need. Putting in extra plants to spruce up the property is another way you show your love for what you do.
As for myself I love gardening and lawn care. I can let my mind go of all the clutter that is rolling around in my brain and feel peace. Being newly retired has had some challenges but my hands in dirt or on my tractor mowing is just the best. Even snow blowing this winter has been a joy. Just to be outside in the fresh air. Twice a week I help transport the elderly in my area to medical appointments and
it is such a wonderful feeling helping those that are in need. Keep up the great work at this property and I am looking forward to the backyard transformation. Blessings to you and your family.

Thanks for not using poisons on the hornets. I like the order you created, the clean up. There is such satisfaction in leaving a place looking better. I do a lot of volunteer weeding, and picking up trash when I see it. I find being with people I love and who love me to restore my health...and time in prayer and worship.

Once again a wonderful yard transformation Tyler. 👏👏👏 I like order that’s why I enjoy your meticulous work. I’m sure a tidy environment will help with the yard owner’s mental health . I lost my eldest son to a mental illness many years ago that’s why I’m so proud of you getting your life back because I know it isn’t easy. For my mental health, I like working in my garden, drawing and painting.

I find if I remind myself that with any project there is a step by step process. I sometimes get overwhelmed or impatient when it might seem that it's not working. But...when I can remind myself to acknowledge how far each step takes me...another step closer to the goal..and then voila...suddenly it's complete.
It is so fun watching you do each task required, and doing it with skill and enthusiasm. You are also very brave and determined...love that! You have such a kind heart and are so creative in planting and improving the property...AND everything looks so great in the end! Bravo! ❤

Great job, Tyler, as always. Looking forward to seeing you transform that backyard. Please look after yourself, especially in this heat and humidity. I like the way you tidied those yucca plants. My dad has some in his yard, so I’m going to do what you did. He’s 90, so gardening is beyond him now, except for watering the plants.
You asked us to say what we do for our mental health. I like to watch videos, read books, stay off social media (facebook, instagram especially) - too much negativity and unnecessary noise for my head to manage. I don’t consider RUclips social media….it’s a place I feel safe and I can choose what I want to see.
Plus…..I always give myself a high five each morning for waking up and being on the right side of the dirt. 💪💪💪💪

Things that help me - talking with friends, in person is best but on technology is also good, walking either alone or with a friend, tidying the house, clean sheet day, getting lost in a good book, movie or RUclips channel, gardening, noticing nature, birds, butterflies, weather, the changing sky, sunrises, sunsets, moon and stars. 😊
