I miss my mother, too. My grandmother had a wringer washer. Too me, it was so much fun. She even had the scrub board. Because, I was a kid, that was fun, too, but I really loved the wringer washer. It was fun to see the clothes go in on one side and come out on the other side.

I learned everything from my mom too. She was amazing and so good at everything she did. She keep a beautiful home she could cook anything she raised 3 children with out desposable dippers. And she made most of our clothing. I miss her so much!

Our first washer and dryer lasted over 25 years, married 43 years. When I had to replace them, the next three sets of appliances did not last as our first (Whirlpool) washer and dryer. I purchased a refurbished front loader set and never like them at all. It was very expensive and frustrating! Finally, I purchased my long wished for washer and dryer, Speed Queen top loader with deep fill. It is wonderful, actually cleans our clothes, I am very thankful I found these appliances.

Jennifer I remember my nana in England using a dolly tub one time when I was about 3 , my knees were grubby so she put me in the the dolly tub when she had finished her laundry I remember only able to just look over the top of the tub. She laughed years later that I could still remember it at about 19 yrs of age. I’m 65 this year. We all have some lovely memories from our past . God Bless Jennifer 💖💜💖💜

Easy way to put the pillowcases on your pillows is to turn your pillowcase inside out, stick both arms into the pillowcase, grabbing the corners, then grab the two corners of the pillow with the side of the tag on it, and just put the pillowcase outside in over the pillow. Hope this makes sense. I just love watching your videos!! Thank you for sharing!!

Jennifer, you brought back such memories from when I was a kid. We had the wringer washer until I was 18 years old. Lasted through 7 children, and 3 adults; our Grandma stayed with us. Buckets of water had to be lited from the sink to fill it, but it had a hose that was put into the sink to drain it. Then you'd have to repeat the process for the rinse water before using the wringer. We also had the clothes lines in the yard. Do you remember the forked sticks that held up the lines if they drooped from heavy clothes? In the winter, we had clothes lines in the basement for winter drying. The lines were right across from the boiler; we had oil heat. Sunshine and air made the dry clothes smell amazing! Once in a while, we'd find a bee in the sheets when we took them down. Guess they thought the sheets smelled like flowers. LOL Thanks for sharing this great video. God Bless. Love you all!! xxoo

My Maytag top loading washer died 2 years ago. You are right they don’t make them like they use to! Now have a top loading speed queen washer. I love that I can lift the lid while it’s filling to add the odd item. So many new ones once it starts you’re unable to lift the lid. My speed queen gets the job done in less time than so many washers!

Growing up, I never heard any swearing at home--from neither parent. My husband doesn't swear much unless he's very angry (rare but when it happens, it's usually work-related). I don't do it either, nor do our children. I'm glad for that because swearing is ubiquitous. It makes us a little different.
It is just a matter of what we're used to. It is not that we think any less of people that swear a lot. It is just a matter of not coming naturally as a way of expression to us. Again, I don't judge those that use expletives. It takes all kinds to make the world go round!
Thanks for your tips and stories!

We had a wringer washer until I was in high school (early 70s). I recall 2 bad wash days. I got scalded when I knocked a hot kettle off with my stick horse and a few years later I ran my hand into the wringer and stripped the veins which took years to completely heal. Hope you are recovering well from your surgery.

Jennifer, you and I do a lot of things alike in the cleaning and laundry routine. LOL Our first washing machine was a wringer washer.....yellow..... We were in the Air Force in Florida and so thank goodness a clothes line came in handy. Not having the money for any washing machine our neighbor loaned us the $7 we bought it for at the auction. No kidding! I loved it........washed and rinsed and could soak the diapers for the babies and then rinse them out before washing them in hot water.....so soak, wash, rinse and hang up on the clothes line. The best smell in the world (other than a newborn baby) is clean clothes dry off the line and just so fresh.......
I loved doing laundry and I still do. I never will forget that washing machine and how thrilled I was to have it especially with two babies in fifteen months. Wow....cloth diapers and then some! LOL Growing up we had a wringer washer as well and Saturday was my day since I was one of the oldest girls I had the task of doing the family laundry. With a family of nine there was plenty of laundry but I always loved it...even when young. I don't know why, perhaps it was because I had some alone time and didn't have to watch the kids while mom cooked and or worked as she also worked during the week. She was a saint as well, so I know what you mean speaking of your mother. Speaking of your top load, I love that as well. I have a front loader now for eight years but if I ever have to get another I will get a top loader again. I love that I can stop it and let it soak or bleach it and let it sit the length of time I want it to soak. Anyway.......suffice it to say I GET IT! LOL
Blessings and it looks like Chad is enjoying a bit of retirement in the pillow case department. LOL
It is an adjustment to be sure.
Love your channel and love when you both work together....we always do too. :-)

I had a Maytag gas dryer for 25 years. I replaced 2 rollers and cleaned it periodically. That's it. A service man said as long as I can get parts to NOT replace it, as newer versions were not nearly as good. I moved and left the Maytag dryer because my new home did not have gas supplied to the dryer location. Darn it. The new owner said the dryer is still going strong after 6 years since he bought my place. A testament to good products and workmanship. That's a minimum of 31 years, as I bought it used. Amazing!
At my old home, I had bought a front load washer for big bucks. When I moved, I had already spent twice the purchase price repairing it after warranty.
In my new home, I acquired an Amana washer and dryer. So far, the dryer is doing ok, but the washer went on the fritz within 2 years, and I replaced it with a Speed Queen top loader commercial washer. Thus far, I am really happy with it. We'll see how it performs.
I soooo wish all appliances were the quality we used to purchase, but they are just not. Why? That's a good video for you guys to provide after researching what's wrong with the American appliance quality these days. It's an issue worth digging in to.
    Thanks for your video.

Thanks Grandma Jennifer for these tips. I was thinking while listening to you, life would be so much more simpler with less stuff!. We have 5 in our family and currently 3 because the boys are on their own now but we have WAY too much stuff. Lots and lots of towels, multiple rags and of course sheets! We have at least 3 sets per bed. Not to mention ALL the clothes we have!!! Way to many for sure!! It is definitely time to do some in house cleaning while it is super cold and snowy out!! My husband wants to clean the garage so we can get our vehicles in them but I'm saying it is too cold out. Wait til March but we will see. Thank you my dear!!

Jennifer I love your tips! What a sweet story about your mom. ❤️ Have you ever thought about a drying rack for your items that you don’t put in the dryer? It is not expensive and folds up easily and would probably fit behind you door with your ironing board. I use mine more in the winter to hang our sweaters on. I put it over a heating vent or in a sunny spot in my house and they are dry in no time. I hope you are doing well after your surgery. I know Chad is taking good care of you. ❤️

good idea about the wet cloths not going into the hamper. I could tell you a story about my mother. My mother and her sisters were at the laundromat when they were very little. Anyway, they had those old ringer ones, my mother was putting cloths in the wringer and got her arm caught in it. Her older sister tried to reverse it to get it out. It ripped her arm up pretty good. They went down the street to get their aunt, Her uncle
ran her to the hospital, they were going to amputate her arm. A nun was there and told them no. She helped my mother get the use of her arm back to normal. Thank god for that. My mother made a living out of cleaning houses so I could go to a catholic high school and put braces on my teeth. She was head custodial for the school for a lot of years. Imagine if they would have amputated her arm.

OMG! I do everything you said to do. Didn’t know I was doing that good of a job. When my daughters were young, things didn’t go as well. As teenagers, they would try on clothes, throw them down and wear something else. I never knew if the clothes on the floor were clean or dirty and I would just wash them again. Those were the days when I had to pay for the washer and dryer in my apartment. I would get so mad at them but now I am a great grandma and I do exactly what you say to do. I even wash the sheets every two weeks and put them right back on the bed, and wear my same clothes two times before washing. Thanks, Jennifer (which by the way is my daughters name too).

They each have a cute laundry basket that they keep in their closet and I wash their clothes on one day, then ours, and then my daughter has her day on a weekend. Your mom was right. It's never too late to change and learn new things. I miss my wonderful mom too. She passed last August at nearly 91. One thing I like for laundry is to have a hanging rod right near the dryer. I hang most of our clothing, so I take it out of the dryer and hang it up immediately. I have a table nearby for things that I fold. My laundry area is certainly not as pretty as yours, but I do keep up with it. Thank you for doing another cleaning video! Helps me stay inspired!

We have both been married over 40 years and we both grew up in families with strong women role models and do many things the way our mom's and grandma's did. I have thanked God many times for my mom ,grandma and my mom's three sisters! I totally agree about top loader washers too! When I had to replace mine recently I ended up with a relatively inexpensive one because no one wants a top loader. Hello, I approach laundry the same way you do. For some reason, my mom didn't like to fold/ put away clothes and it was always frustrating to me to have to go to the laundry room and dig through baskets or the dryer for towels, clothes or whatever you needed. Once I was old enough I started doing my own laundry and I have pretty much kept my way of doing it. I never let clean laundry sit in the dryer. My kids now like to tease me that I always put clothes away while they were still warm. My children are now grown and I have one that puts them away warm and one that gets dressed out of the laundry room. Lol.... It all comes down to personal preference I guess. 😄
As far as washing machines, I had to finally replace my 25 year old Maytag last year. I was broken hearted. I replaced it with another top loader. I got a Samsung that doesn't have an agitator and uses far less water. I have been very pleasantly surprised at how well it works. I have not had any problems and everything comes out very clean (some things even better!
Thank you for your uplifting videos each week. You are an inspiring ray of sunshine and hope. ❤

I love these videos. The way you manage towels and sheets is awesome.
Now that Chad is retired, you can have him put up your clothesline. I love clotheslines.
I got a speed queen top loader last year. I love it just like you do. I will do whatever I need to do to keep it.

Loved this video. I too only like top loading washers and I do have Maytag but a newer model which is not as good as my previous one. The water stops when you lift the lid which I hate. I used to rinse the detergent cup out with the running water. If I need a new washer I would definitely get a Speed Queen. I too don’t put anything wet or damp in my hamper. In the winter I put wet towels and kitchen towels & cloths on the radiator and in the morning they are dry and I put them in the hamper. I am like you and wear outfits twice or 3 times. Love all your videos.

I just think you are the sweetest! I do many of these things. I keep a very neat and tidy home and I do as you said, I just keep up on the laundry. I don’t like to feel overwhelmed. My elderly mom lives with us and I am really busy taking care of her. Anyway, I adore you and your channel!

You are so right. I had a Maytag and it was junk. Now, I do have a fridge and it is 10 yrs old so far. Right now I have Whirlpool for washer and dryer. My sister kept her old machines until they couldn't get parts any more. I considered getting Speed Queen when my Whirlpool goes out.

I love your cleaning videos so much! I’m glad you’ve been posting more again, I’ve learned so much from your cleaning and home keeping philosophy. And I agree about top loader washing machines! My parents had a cutting edge front loader when I was teen and we hated it! As soon as I got married I searched for a used top loader and it’s my trusty helper everyday. I laughed over Chad with the pillows, all husbands really are the same 😂 God bless you guys!

I remember as a young girl visiting my grandma and saw her doing laundry in the basement with the ringer!!!! That was so scary. I always thought that machine was dangerous. I agree on liking the top load machine. Yes on Maytag!!! Thank you for sharing your laundry routine. ❤❤❤

My memaw had a wringer washing machine on her back porch. One of my cousins would let his arm go through the wringer from hand to shoulder. He'd grab the corner of a bed sheet or pillow case as it went through but he wouldn't let go. I'd scream at him to stop but he'd just laugh. His arm never broke or even became bruised from what I can remember. Those were the good ol' days :) Fun with the washing machine!

Jennifer - I LOVED this video! You are such a good inspiration and motivator to many of us for cleaning tips, organizational skills and also all of your cooking videos! Would you possibly consider doing a kitchen tour and organizational tips on how you set up your kitchen and which bowls, pots and pans and tools that you use and like that are handy, etc. We would LOVE it if you would do a video on your kitchen ideas, tips and tricks. You are a blessing to us all with your refreshing videos, that is for sure! Thank you for all you do for us! i hope you are doing well after your gum surgery too! Blessings to you always!

I do my laundry like you! Don’t like wet towels, our basement is not finished so we have a washline in there for wet towels and delicates that can’t go in the dryer, like your videos and family life, you have lots of grandchildren so nice, and Aunt Linda is a very sweet person, she’s special!

More great home tips! I also prefer the top load of washer. The newer ones are not as good and seem to take so long and so many times the clothing doesn’t seem to be dry. We have a laundry chute so the laundry is hidden until I open that door, then it comes out onto the counter right next to the washer. Never put anything damp into the chute either.

About a year before my husband retired last year we bought a new set of Maytags. I got a top loader and had the option of an agitator which I chose. I absolutely love them and have had no issues. Don’t give up on Maytag yet.

I have the same set of Maytag washer/dryer set as you have. We have a local appliance repair/refurbish store and I will never purchase new again. The oldies are the best and not very expensive to repair. They don’t make them like they used to. I have a household of boys so, my laundry routine is a bit different. 😂

I came up with a routine after one of your other video. it's just me so I realize it's easier. I normally just do laundry on one day but have a 3 week schedule for when towels and bedding are washed
