I have a similar feeling of comfort when I watch the videos. I did have both of my parents growing up, but they were young and had their own issues, so I've never really had a healthy family dynamic. Watching these videos provides me with a healthy image of what home environment should feel and look like.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jennifer, for the fabulous tour of your kitchen! I have so wanted to see your kitchen for so long. Now I really feel like I am right there in your kitchen with you when you do your cooking videos. Love all of your tips on organizing your kitchen accessories too. Thank you very much for your suggestion on the finish on your kitchen floors too. We are going to have our hardwood floors refinished coming up, so I will see if this company can do it with Glitsa floor finish. Your floors always look so pretty on your videos! Again, thank you so much, Jennifer. You are my #1 favorite You Tuber! I sure hope you are feeling better after your gum surgery. Blessings to you and your sweet family!

In my pantry I have little baskets for my things so they don’t get lost. I have a basket for each category, fruit, veggies, etc. I then put my newest stuff in the back of the basket so the old gets used up. It also makes shopping easier because I know exactly what I have!

Beautiful kitchen! As we get older pull out drawers for your pantry is essential. Turn the desk area into a coffee/hot cocoa/ tea / drink station! Or convert it to a baking station where you store all your baking needs. Flour, sugar, BP, spices, pans, etc.. for your spices make cheap lazy Susan's with 2 cake pans(from the Dollar Tree) and marbles.[Kathrine from Do it on a Dime has a video on it]. DON'T paint the cupboards...I love the wood!! Chad looks good in the kitchen cooking!! Take care y'all. 😊❤👍

Adding frames with lift up doors above your cabinets would give you storage space for holiday serving dishes, extra sheet pans, etc. They have islands on wheels, that lock, that fold up... if you want to keep your floor space but also have an island...take out the desk and you can "roll" your island to which the desk is now. Go hardware shopping! 😁Love your vlogs...miss them 💛

Yes, I agree. My parents redid their 1970s kitchen in the early years of the new millennium, so they took out their above-cabinet soffit and added cabinets with glass doors + lights - all of their special holiday pieces are stored up there, as well as china and crystal from their wedding. It looks so lovely, especially in the evenings when they just leave those lights on + the under cabinet lighting down near the floor. PS. I also vote for the handles/knobs...they will save all of the food, oil, etc. residue from building up on your wood cabinet doors.

I had a Corner wheel cabinet in my kitchen. That is where I kept all of my pots and pans because it was next to the stove. I took the wheel out and put a shelf in place of it. I was able to put all of my pots and pans on the top shelf and the bottom shelf I was able to put all of my crock pots, airfryer and instant pot. It gave me twice the space I had with just the wheel. Just a thought. I love your kitchen and everything about it!!! I love my under cabinet lights in my kitchen as well. Mine were installed when the house was built so they are on a light switch and I love that!!! God bless!!!

Super easy thing to help your drawers open easier is to put on a felt pad (like the ones you put under chairs so they slide nicely) right in the corners so the drawer doesn’t stick.

    Hi Jennifer,
Being that we are only a couple month's apart in age, I see some of the old spice containers your holding onto. What a sweet sentiment to our youth and our folks era.
So I had the same issue with the long pantry in my kitchen with things getting lost.
I bought three baskets at wal mart and put my canned goods tgat we go through weekly, along with another for small pkgs of rice and pasta, the dried goods.
I decided to stop fighting with the pantry and move my every day dishes and glasses to the long pantry and switch my food items to the top cabinets.
Wow we see what we have, and I'm not buying surplus items and things don't get wasted. Just a suggestion.
You guys have a great week.

I love your kitchen too. The only thing I would want to change is the lower cabinets should be all drawers. I have crippling arthritis so bending down to reach things in the lower cabinets is too hard for me but I can manage drawers. I had a wonderful big walk in pantry at the farm which I really miss now that I have moved into town. I don’t really need it these days but I just loved it. I also have an upside down refrigerator which I really love because it’s so much easier for me to get things out. The house I live in now is the last place I will live and it’s very suitable for me and very comfortable. The thing I love the most about my house is the pool in the backyard. I swim everyday and live in a tropical area so we have very mild winters. I always enjoy your videos and I am so glad that you are feeling better now.

I had the same problem with my pantry, it was deep & everything got lost. I found my solution on QVC with the Pop-It adjustable sliding cabinet organizers. I put a peel & stick tile on the metal so things would sit on the metal shelf better. It has been such a game changer! Plus they are easy installation & good quality. Love your little Knick knacks, I keep little flowers my grandsons pick for me. Always makes me smile 😊

Jennifer, about her cupboard nicknacks: "I open up the doors and they just make me smile, they just make me smile." Absolutely no harm there, totally love how much you love the memories that they bring back and remind you of 💙
And as with everything, so tidy and organized, homey in the absolute best way. I agree on the higher, to the ceiling cupboards. You could maybe have a home for the little kitchen step ladder you would need, put where the desk was....if you new then what you knew now (and the budget had more wiggle room) If you were a Clutter Mom, you could put decorative plates, vases or such above the shorter cabinets - but you're not like that (love that you're not, by the way) Chad's tetris remark about his "container drawer" made me chuckle....my Dad could pack the back of a pick up, to take one of us back to College, like nobody's business! Maybe all Dad's have this skill ❤
I hope the two of you had an excellent Valentines day (It's the 15th as I watch this Vid) Have a great rest of your week. Oh, I Love that sink!!

I regret not taking our cupboards to the ceiling too. When we built our home 9+yrs ago, it sounded like they were extending our cabinets....but I think what they did was lower them because we added a foot to the ceiling height. I should of asked if the cupboards were going to extend to the ceiling, I would of asked my hubby if it'd be okay. Then I wouldn't have to worry about cleaning the tops of the cupboards, and I'd have more room to store things in our small kitchen.

Thank you for sharing your kitchen! I did have a thought regarding your pantry: What if you either got rid of the items in the cabinets above the desk (as you said you really could get rid of that stuff) or move it somewhere else and use that cabinet as your pantry? Perhaps you could even just switch the items; since you don't use the items in the cabinets above the desk the pantry shelves would work good to store them. Another idea I had: could you remove the desk and build a pantry in that space? Something that would fit under the existing cabinets currently above the desk. Make the shelves wide instead of deep and you'd have a great pantry space!

    ❤You have a lovely home.❤
I have a few suggestions that may help you. The serving dishes you rarely use and Thanksgiving utensil tray can be moved to the pantry cabinets where the food cans go to rest in peace.😄👌🏻 Move those food items to the cabinet where the unused serving trays are currently stored. Just a suggestion. Get the handles/knobs installed! You'll be thankful for that when you get old.
Your stove may need to be serviced because it's not normal for it to take so long to light up. Unless that varies in the different makes and models. It may but if you use that one burner the most admits the only one that takes long to light up, I'd call the service center and ask. For your bottom cabinets, they sell kits your husband can install that will give you pull out trays and some come up to use as a counter. It'll be a nice project that'll make life easier. The space between your cabinets and the ceiling, a friend added small cabinets with glass doors and lights where she stores her glassware and vases she seldom uses. It's not very big but it really changed the look of her kitchen for the better --adding glass doors and lights was key to that looking as great as it does.
I love your little treasures in your cabinets!!! That's sweet and fun!!!
Paint you cabinets!😂 just the top ones!

I get not wanting to sit at that desk. I had one in a home once and didn't like the feeling of sitting facing a wall. So I always used my kitchen table to do my bills and lists and such. I put a stainless steel trash can where the chair is and used the top for a coffee station with a lamp. You have an abundance of cabinets. Have you considered taking the door off of one or two and use for displaying your knick backs and possibly cook books? Or maybe knocking the inside wood panel out of a door and installing glass for display.

We moved into our house three years ago and overall I love my kitchen. But, there is one thing I really don’t like and would never choose, open lower shelves. They are the worst! They get so much dust and dog hair. I mostly keep pots and pans down there. Whenever I use something from the bottom shelf I have to rinse it or re wash it. I wouldn’t mind some upper open shelves but I do not recommend lowers.

I LOVE your kitchen! I Totally love the farmhouse sink! LOL Thank you for the lovely tour, it helps me to picture how to organize my kitchen (which I hate). I'm in an apt so I don't get a say, so I do what I can. I love the cookie sheet/baking sheet cupboard by your stove. I got some of those Big boxes (like the kind bananas, or other stuff comes in) and put them in my lower cabinets and use them like pull out shelving. I use them for Tupperware type stuff, one for the containers, one for the lids. I have to go through them every so often and cull things. That's a Brilliant idea to put Formica under the sinks!!! I have a couple of tall cupboards that are almost totally useless as they're so tall, and deep, but not really conducive to putting anything in, but the bottom shelf is actually tall enough to hold my cookie sheets. Thanks for all your basic lessons in home upkeep, and baking/cooking. I missed most of these growing up. God bless!!

Lighting is a must, we just put some in after 40 yrs, we also have just recently changed to stainless. Cant say as I like them a lot. It’s just the 2 of us as well and fingerprints are awful. I do like your layout from the garage and laundry room. Very nice.

Love your videos! I love your simplicity and how you keep your little trinkets in the cupboards. I can see how they make you smile. I am a mom of 4 young children. When you had little kids did you keep the same simplisity in your home? Would love to see a video on tips for raising a larger family and keeping a tidy home 🥰 Although watching your daughters videos I can see you in them and the way they keep their homes. Beautiful family ❤️

Thanks for the tour, I was curious. It looks very nice and organised. My kitchen came with the apartment it was one year and a half and custom made for the space so I didn't have to think about how I need to make it. The previous owner made it perfect for my taste. Down I have only big drawers, one for baking supplies, one for electronics and one for more spices and the upper cabinets I use for small rack spices, one for tea, one for pantry, one for plates, one for mixing bowls and other stuff I use daily like tupperware. It's pretty minimalistic so I recently put a 3 tier bamboo stand with lids whick keeps hidden all my beans and lentils which have open packaging so I use those first, and my favorite thing about my kitchen is I can look at the window when I wash the dishes and also when I cook the window view goes to the living room.

We purchased a Bosch dishwasher last year and we love it!! My parents have a brand new house and one thing I love in their kitchen is a pull out drawer for the trash can and recycling. I’m not sure if you could do that in yours, but I think it would be hand. I know some people don’t like countertop clutter, but it might be fun to display some of your treasured little knickknacks, like your salt and peppers, so those who come in your home can see them.

You can reuse the shelves from the pantry, by, adding the slide panel and shorten the shelves to fit. Saving money. Ana White has a video on how to do that. love you kitchen, really your whole home.

You could sand the cabinets to make them look more up to date like ellies wooden cabinets
I think you should put handles on the cabinets and knobs on the drawers aswell that would be beautiful 🙂

I love your kitchen! I have a pantry where things go to disappear too. Pull out shelves isn't an option for me. So I bought baskets to keep like items together (for example our Oatmeal, snack bars, sides, Mac n Cheese etc) Behide the baskets is my "Overflow". Cans I haven't found a great answer, I just don't push them all the way back anymore. It's been a few months and irs still working. I only have 7 cabinets and a 14" wide panty. I lover your cabinets and counter space!!

Ellie gets her home design skills from you. Both her homes have been beautiful. She says she'll always put a toilet in the laundry room because you always did. It's a really smart idea and gives you an extra bathroom without having to build a whole powder room. How did you think of it?

Love your kitchen and home. I’d love to purchase it if you ever did move out. ♥
My suggestion is to take out the desk chair and put a built in drawer trash can. You probably could fit two trash cans in the pull out drawer.

i LOVE your kitchen!! It is so lovely. My whole life i thought wooden kitchens were ugly and boring, now i am 24 and i am obsessed with them😂. Because they are classy, cozy, timeless, elegant. I am inspired by your kitchen. I still live with my parents but ONE DAY.....i will have my wooden kitchen (with "golden" handles though)

How about a roll up on top of the desk that you don't use. You can then put your toaster and some other things on there then roll down the partition when you aren't using that space. It will free up the cupboard where you have the toaster and can use that for more storage. 💛

The pull-out pantries are a nice solution for your deep pantry cabinet. I find that putting pull-outs in your pantry cabinet also aren’t very effective unless you have high walls for the drawers because no matter how neat you keep it, your bags of pasta and snacks and anything loose falls out so easily.

I will recommend putting knobs or pulls on your doors. In my previous house I had dark oak cabinets and went without knobs for twenty years. You could definitely tell which cabinets got used the most. Also, you can buy rubber mats with a lip to put under the sink. I have one of those and don’t have to worry about small leaks.

    Love this video.
I am much like you with keeping things clean and organized.
I have the same white rubber coated shelving in my kitchen for multi layer dishes.
    Love them!
My only suggestion would be ...if you don’t want to put Chad to work making pullout shelves, just switch where you have your pantry items so they are more visible and put something else there that doesn’t matter as much.
I do love how you film things like this. I remember when you did a video of you polishing your kitchen cupboards.
Please do more. You both are a great example of how well a couple can get along.
Hope you are feeling better now after your dental surgery. Take care.

I like your kitchen! I have had painted cupboards and now I have cupboards like yours. I would not go back to painted due to how they wear. I love your wood floor and if I could do that, I would in a heartbeat. I never thought about knickknacks in the cupboards. I may be adding a couple things to my cupboards! I like to use flour sack towels on the bottom of my cupboards. I iron them to fit my cupboards and they are so easy to clean! Pull them out and throw them on the wash.

I have all oak cabinets in my kitchen also. Mine go to the ceiling and I do like the extra shelf plus the clean line from the outside. I’m short so I store things I don’t use very often on the high shelves. I personal do not like the look of a row of drawers. My drawers are behind doors. All my drawers are also pull outs and they are very nice. My pantry are all pull out what a nice thing to have.

Love kitchen tours, my cabinets don't go to the ceiling either wish I would of when we put them in, one advice I can give,(I don't know maybe you already do it or something different) but to make the cleaning on top of those cabinets easier which I do at least each season, I put wax paper on top and I just change them when its time for a deep clean and no scrubbing of dust or grease from cooking, just thought I would share cause I know how dirty it can get up there, have a nice day all the way from Canada

I love your kitchen! Definitely don’t paint the cabinets! Some nice modern pulls would look great. Chad sees very handy I would have him install pull out shelving in your cabinets. It would be the best upgrade you could ever do!!!!

I absolutely LOVE that little table by the window to your patio so MUCH!!!! I have this little table that matches a lot to my kitchen table and gives us 8 people to sit around instead of the 6 but My dream is to have a sunroom off our dining room made so I can have the little table like that in there to have breakfast or cup of tea and read at. That is a dream of mine.
Also, glad you don't have pets because it is know for them to turn the gas burners on and start fires in the kitchen. I have the induction glass top stove with the knobs in the back. Everything got remodeled in our kitchen with stainless and full under mount stainless sink, granite countertops. White cabinets to the ceiling!! Love everything and have pantries but would love the pull out shelves in them. However, I understand the cost was pricey.

Hardware is easy to do and actually very budget friendly IF you aren't fickle about it. Count how many you want and set up a budget of like $25-50 etc and make yourself stay in that by choosing what you can afford for how many you need. They even have apps on your phone where you can put the item on your area and see what it looks like before you get it.
