My dad did this for us growing up, to help teach the value of "doing things yourself." Homemade breakfast sandwiches and burgers always taste better and tend to be a bit healthier. Love that you did this video!

All true but you didn’t pay anyone to make it or take your order. How much gas did you use to cook yours?....agree that if you have a large family definitely more cost effective

We don't have a McDonald's close by, but have a Stewart's Shop which sells breakfast sandwiches for close to 5.00 a piece. And my growing grandson would want 2.... So I started to make them at home. For close to 3.00 I could make him 2! And he said they were better and made with LOVE!!!.

The only other addition is McD's labor costs. They have additional "costs of doing business" they pass on to the consumer, which also drive up the costs. Homemade is always best, I think. I like the idea of using the jar lids to contain the eggs. Chad, you did a fantastic job! Love it!

I'm up in Canada and McD has a 2 for $5 deal here. Usually, it's almost $5 EACH here! The sugar content of the sausage is higher in the McD one. Making it yourself is usually cheaper ;) Heather xo

Here in the UK I've been eating McDonald's sausage and egg Mcmuffins for 30 years. I never get tired of them. I ration myself to one or two a month, no more. And for the past 5 years I've been making my own version just like you did in the video. There are a couple of differences. I fry the egg in a blini pan (very small pan), then flip it. I've experimented with the water bath method, which is how McDonald's do it, but I get better results with a blini pan and no water. The yolk is broken just the same, though. The other thing is, English muffins here are prescored and you're supposed to tear them in half, NOT use a knife! Tearing them gently in half leaves both halves with a bumpy, knobbly surface that adds to the texture when toasted. Use the tines of a fork to gently go round the muffin along the prescored line. However, muffins made in the US may be slightly different. Finally, the wrap. This is not just to hold the muffin while eating it, but is intended to keep the heat in for a minute or two to help the cheese melt. I did get a bunch of wraps from Amazon, but when they were gone I started using thin kitchen foil instead. So I wrap the muffin and place it in a warm conventional (not microwave!) oven for a few minutes. Over here we usually get a hash brown with the muffin, forming a so-called Mcmuffin Meal, which also includes a white coffee all for £3.59. I get my frozen sausage patties from Tesco or Aldi.

It looks like a Mason jar cover. I'm so impressed. I want an English mc muffin right now. I'll make one in the morning. It's almost 2 AM here right now. Can't sleep.
