Huge McNeil fan. Really like his ability to make contact and play multiple positions. Plays on the big stage (NY) but is still underrated.

Every single one of his hits, the homers the bloops everything. Has the same sound. He is a master of bat control and I’m so fucking happy he’s a met. The flying squirrel for president

Calling it now as ridiculous as it might he to predict this so far away, but as long as nothing unexpected and terrible happens, I believe the squirell will be in Cooperstown one day. The guy is just different.

He can hit. Fun watching him bat. Even when he is fooled he has this ability to slow his bat down mid swing and steer the baseball. It's amazing.

Same here. As a Mets fan I've spent most of my life watching Mets hitters strike out. Squirrel is the opposite. The man doesn't make it easy for the other team. Tough out.

I think he’s gonna be able to nail those liners above the second basemen. It’s gonna be hard to defend against someone who can spray like him regardless

  • @pingamalinga

You can't pitch to him effectively. He sits fastball and has an amazing ability to adjust with 2 strikes. He chokes up all the time and with 2 strikes he takes another half inch. Beautiful to watch him stay back on the breaking balls and wait.
Maybe he should keep wearing 1 even if they sign him long term.

Boy was not trading him paying off. The Mets lineup is more dangerous because the guys are not the all or nothing kind of hitters but they will smack the ball out of the park.
Just really good hitters and now with Correa, it is still a surreal feeling that they will add that kind of bat to that lineup. You could even bat McNeil in front of Correa if Buck wants. I'm wondering how Buck will put up the lineup with Correa in it.
I think you gotta stick with Marte at number 2
So it would be Correa after Alonso before McNeil or McNeil behind Alonso with Correa behind him.
You can play around and put Volgie 5th protected by Correa 6th before McNeil, against righties.
Yeah I'm stuck here again wondering breaking my head over how Buck will go with it. It'll be exciting.

A good 10-15 of McNeil's hits were simply because he hustles all the time. If he just gave up at the battery's box and dogged it down the line, he wouldn't be the batting champ.

  • @thescottishsteak

Freddie Freeman had more hits in way more ABs, yes technically McNeil won the batting title but it was a cheapie.
Also, he was benched on the last day of the season, that day Freeman went 3-4, if McNeil plays that gaem and goes 0-4, 1-4, or 2-4, Freddie has a batting title. But Buck Showalter is a coward and a douchbag

Do any of you know how incredibly difficult it is to take a major league caliber pitch, whether it be a fast ball or off speed breaking ball, take that pitch and drop it behind the infield right before the outfield, in no man's land. How many times did McNeil just place the ball where no one can get it. Do any of you have any idea how hard it is to hit at the major league level, let alone be a CONTACT hitter?
