Love the new Rome bindings so much! Thanks for the awesome reviews.
Glad you like them as much as we did.
Such a great comprehensive video. Thanks for the comparison.
Glad it was helpful!
Around 5:00-5:20 is the wrap always supposed to be on the inside or are you saying the bar can be outside for more buttery park riding, allowing you to bend ankle inward?
Yes it's supposed to be on the inside and was just saying its easier to lean out towards the tip/tail for more buttery park riding. Not sure if you can switch the wraps but if you have a pair give it a try and let me know.
I'm looking at the 2023 models and am undecided between the vice and the cleaver. Which would be better for say 60/40 park to all mountain on a wide board?
Vice or Katana would be better than the Cleaver with it's stiffer high back.
Hey guys I’m Currently looking at new bindings and I’m stuck between the katana, vice (now has the new straps I think) and also the union strata. Which doc you think is best for a do it all binding ? I love carving and bombing but also want to be able to hit rails and jumps etc
Based on what i know here It's a tossup between the Katana and Strata. I'd drop the Vice. The Katana has more versatility so if you want a binding that works with just about any board this is the one. I think it comes down to what you have in your quiver or plan to. If you want to get more in depth hit me up here so I can better help. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
@@thegoodridesnow ah okay thankyou I thought maybe with the new strap they’re using on the vice it would be good, I was mainly scared of the strata not having much response or being really soft as I’m 88kg. So wasn’t sure if it’s suit as an all mountain binding. I’ll send over more info via the link once I’m home from work
How does the foam last for shok absorption? I have some 2019 union atlas with the foam crushed at the bottom.
I was not able to test these long term but I think it will be similar or a little better than the Atlas. If you want to ensure you have foam that lasts a long time go up to the Katana with the closed cell foam. I have used that same technology in my boots' sole, got 150 days on them and they didn't break down at all.
So I think I’m gonna buy these for my Ride SuperPig. Is worth it to upgrade to the Katana. Or do you think you these will work?
If you can swing the Katana's go for those. They are better. The Vice are great for the price though and have a pretty similar ride so if price is important then go Vice.
Have you tried setting up Rome bindings 4x4 vs mini disc? Any noticeable difference if you have?
Yes they work and you can use them with set back inserts that some brands put on boards for powder. There is just no stance width adjustability but it works.
@The Good Ride sorry, my question wasn't very clear
Have you set up a pair of bindings both ways to see if you notice a difference between mini and 4x4 while riding?
I have a Jones Mountain Twin board and am considering the Vice or D.O.D. Which do you recommend if I mainly freeride but like to do side hits also?
I would go Vice just because we loved that adjustable ankle strap angle. It's really great for dialing out the response you want from the binding.
@@thegoodridesnow Awesome, thank you! How would you rate the Rome Vice compared to Burton Cartel X? I heard that the Burton Reflex mounting could damage the top sheet of snowboards...
Do you think the Vice has enough of a difference from the Katana to warrant a purchase? Own a pair of Katanas and love them for my surfy freeride boards (Dart/Cannon/Pow Reaper), but I need to replace the Contact Pros I paired with my Disaster (and Pocket Rocket occasionally). Just want something that will excel at butters and sidehits, don't really ride park much. Originally had my eyes on the Union Ultras, but they're a bit pricier so I'm looking at alternatives. Was also looking at the Crux because they're on sale, and Union Flite because theyre so cheap, but reviews on them don't seem as great. Any thoughts/recommendations for a buttery binding to complement the Katanas in my quiver?
They are a stripped down Katana but it has some similarities to the Contact Pro's or the Union Ultra Now. Way better than the Flite's and to a lesser extent Crux. Yeah the Vice would pair up well with those boards.
@thegoodridesnow thanks for the quick reply! Managed to find a deal on another option, the Salomon District. If it were you, specifically targeting pairing for the Bataleon Disaster and focused on buttering, which would you pick: Rome Crux, Salomon District (both at Flite prices with the discount), or hold out for Ultras?
I'd hold out for Ultras but either of those could do and they are great bindings.
Would the vice be comparable to Union stratas? Stuck between those for my Yes Greats board
Somewhat comparable and both would be a great fit for the Greats. I really like both bindings so it just comes down to what calls to you more.
@thegoodridesnow for a 2023 DOA would you recommend a pair of Strata or Vice?
Hello. Which ankle strap is better/more durable. This ultralight (bigger) strap, or the newer auxtech?
Hard to say as I didn't test either for a full season. I would guess that this is more durable but the Auxtech is much more comfortable and not too far behind in durability.
@thegoodridesnow thanks. One more question. Which one would you choose for flat freestyle, vice or katana. Acoording to romes specification both have flex 5 with the lowest pivotmount position. I have a posibility to get vice 23 / katana 23. Really dont know, because it will be my second binding.
I'd go Katana because I like the straps and foam better but Vice could easily work on a budget.
@@thegoodridesnow thanks. So i made the right decision. Happy with my new Katana 😁
