Absolutely great video by the way. @Spice 8 Rack Gonna watch the others and like and sub. Really hope you keep growing and making great videos like this! Heart goes out to you and your team for putting heard and soul into your work.
Honestly, what really caught me off guard and made me laugh was how good the last bit was. When he mentioned the comedy of the absurd, I was expecting typical “lol random” humor, but for a quality performance, which stuck more than if he just shouted “Batman!” and cut to black And then I saw the state of his pants
The best joke about Lovecraft's racism is beholders. They're floating many eyed aberrations, and they're just Really racist and paranoid. They look Lovecraftian, and they act like Lovecraft.
Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your videos. You're everything I want in a RUclips channel; critical analysis of unimportant things with a healthy dose of bafoonery!
I did see the video, but disagree. Drill Bit maybe a bad pun but it's so much more. It's not just the fact that the name and flavor make the card but also the art and what the card actually does is important as well. This card is one of the best example of flavor(the what makes this card unique flavor) . Every aspect is relatable to the other. Not alot of cards do that. From the Name to Function to Flavor Text this card is a win, and in my opinion is great comedy. I'm sorry that you felt I commented and with out watching the video, but Drill Bit is a "Bit" BETTER than Might of Oaks.
D. Walter III oh, thank you for such a thorough answer! You exactly pin-pointed all of my thoughts about the card. I, too, think it’s a perfection of the card in terms of relatability to itself. Just layer after layer of comedy in such a minuscule amount of words.
I don't really like the pun in the card but the art + text have such a stupidly malicious to it, I can't help but play it and think that yeah. It's never boring.
The croc flavor text got me laughing for a solid 30 seconds It wasn't just exhaling air out of my nose with increased force, it was an all out laugh out loud moment Thank you for introducing me to this card
I have to say, I'm blown away by the meticulous care that went into writing, producing, and editing every part of this video. There have been multiple times where I have to pause and rewind it simply due to the fact that I want to fully absorb the elements you've included. The content is so dense that in the span of seconds, I detect several witty jokes, in-my-face editing featuring both MTG and non-MTG references, and an abstractly developed interwoven dual plotline starring the man StandUpPoet himself delivering charismatic soliloquies. The best part is that you maintain this quality throughout the entirety of a 27 minute video, which is unreal to me. I look forward to any new videos you put out there on the internet for humble comedy enthusiasts such as myself to enjoy.
Yes Concordia Pegasus, the white card that made me focus on blue decks because the text was so funny. I think storytelling in flavor is an interesting topic, Doomed Artist being one of my favorites because it’s a card that tells a full story through its name, art, mechanics, and flavor text.
I keep coming back to this video, and continue to find it worth noting in my head (and now for the world to see) that "boring" does have a definition that isn't synonymous with "drilling". In certain situations, it specifically refers to the enlarging of a hole already in existence. This is what I took it to mean on my first reading and, as such, I had not qualms with the joke.
I know that this is a bit late, but drill bit's flavor text is perfect. To bore a hole, you just increase the size of said hole. So it being "never boring" is perfect because it's saying it's exciting and they'll always be making a new hole
My personal favorite pun was always werebear, and his right to bear arms. Though I think the cheekiest thing we ever did mtg wise was mail Charles Manson a Timber wolves. The green wolf that gains banding if you control a plains. I really hope he wondered why we even bothered right up until he died.
Loving the new production value! Although honestly its just icing on top of some tasty tasty content. Also the scientific journal references were next level
You've captured perfect rewatchability and analysis of Magic cards in such a fantastic way. I don't know whether to be overjoyed or annoyed. I think that effect is what you were going for so good job!
After your final discourse about the culmination of the video, when you said "the absurd" i didn't think you could pull it off, then at the first word i had a 32 teeth smile across my face. The video was awesome, and i hope you'll release for download (even purchase is fine) the complete version of the song without the voiceover of the credits.
My friends have always told me that I have a knack for comedy and writing good punchlines to comics... Now I understand the theory behind it! Oh and it was from a magic the gathering video. Also I had high expectations for the punchline for that last joke and I genuinely laughed when you started singing
My favriot flavor text goes like this Three goblins tried to cross a river one swam one crossed a bridge and one fired himself out of a cannon All where eaten but only one Was cooked
I love your content, seriously one of the best presentation style out there. You remind me of rhystic studies with the effort and quality. Truly phenomenal!
I really appreciate the joke at 21:39 Taking five tries to get everything right in one go, just to then "ruin" the finally perfect clip with that information. After telling the audience that it took five tries, you might as well have stitched it together, making it clear for the audience that it took multiple recordings. But going to great lengths to make sure everything is perfect, just to then destroy everything without reason is just plain hilarious.

@Jojoforpres Oh I'm not playing favorites. I'm playing *least* favorites. H.P. Lovecraft was racist even by the standards of the time. Those legs are more defined than the three-stage comedy of goblin grenade
The fact that a guy named Buttram worked on a paper on comedy means that guy fully embraces their last name and how humourous it is.
The flavor text of Drill Bit is so so, but the double meaning of the name is too excellent to ignore.
