Im in medical school and I’m trying to learn how to use one of these. I have a question if you would happen to see this. So you don’t read the number that is at the top of your head you read the number at the bottom where it splits in to pieces? I hope that makes since.
In the version we have, yes. It might be different with different models.
good
These are highly inaccurate. There's no way to know if that bar is level unless you are at eye level with the bar, or you have a bubble leveler. I'm 6ft tall, my nurse measured me at 5'6...lol. When your measurer is short, they cannot tell if that bar is level just by looking up
my guy this is standard issue towards all hospitals, the stadiometer is the correct measurement
lol wtf 5'6
5 6 how
At home am 5 8.5 but 5 7 at the doctors
Lmao thats happen to me yesterday, im taller than my dad whos 5'6 and im taller than my friend whos 5'4 but after nurse measures it i ended up being 5'4 with shoes on lol.
In this kinda stadiometer, nurse measured me at 176 cm (5'9) i was shocked because it was a second time it happend to me and i was sure it was an error, then after she measured me the next guy came in at 186(6'1.25) i was eye to eye with him, how is that even possible?
That is a large error. Poor posture or sloppy use of the device can cause this. It's also possible that the device is not hung correctly or the other person was not actually that tall.
@@VivoPhys i might have a poor posture because i have some issues with my back and sometimes i kinda lean forward with my pelvis when i try to stand straight but still even if i had a bad posture that is to much of an error, when i measured at home with a metal tape 176 was just above my eyebrows so that cant be correct but i cant really tell my height i was expecting to measure atleast 183 to 185
Those stadiometers are the best . Nowadays it’s like someone only estimate it and just write it on the wall that’s delusional
185cm high and 77kg (←170lb in American or imperial unit?)in weight.
You are really skinny for American male considering from the height.
Hi 修理固成.It comes out to a BMI of 23.1 kg/m^2. This is the normal weight range.
Unfortunately, this does mean I am leaner than the typical American (see video: ruclips.net/video/aJBC50y_0Hw/видео.html). Although much of the high income countries around the world are in similar obesity epidemics.
Apparently my height goes all over the place when measured at the doctors. Last year they measured me at 76 inches tall. Last week one place measured me as 75 inches and another place 74. These measurements occurred on different days/months and at different doctor offices, but I had no shoes on each time and I was measured at the same time of day. Really confused. Lol
Maybe some sloppy technique or perhaps you stood differently each time.
@@VivoPhys that's what I am thinking. Surely I am not shrinking at 30. Lol.
well for me I was measured 169 cm one time, which can not be true since my friend was measured as 178 and he is definitely not 9 centimeters taller than me,
then I measured myself, I got 173cm and then later when I had another measurement with a stadiometer, I was measured as 172cm so yes it's all over the place.
@@SocialistFinn1 i actually believe doctors are really bad at measuring height because honestly i had a nurse at a school once measure me much less than I am, which was kinda annoying, lol. They actually rush things and don't measure properly.
@@Zizotron exactly
Am i allowed to buy a stadiometer at home
I see no reason why you couldn't.
Which one's right measuring tape or stadiometer for height
You can use a measuring tape instead of a stadiometer to measure height. You just need to be sure the measuring tape is held perfectly perpendicular to the ground.
Hi i measured myself on double carpet 182.5 cm then i measured myself on laminate floor i measured 185.5 cm tall i am confused.? what is my height now if i measure on all flat surfaces or in basement i measure 185.6 but if i measure on carpet its 182.5 .?
@@kawazaki23 you have to stand on solid ground not carpet. I would think the right measurement would be 185.5cm
Hi pedro i just measured myself i am 185.8 cm i actually grew 3 milimeters wow maybe ill reach 186 cm i am 23 year old
@@kawazaki23 congrats man! Great height!
No your 6ft with shoes on
am the same 181 with out shles
This was not helpful atall..
There is some other type of stadiometer in my nursing school
Try looking up the exact make and model of the stadiometer you are trying to learn to get more specific help.
You're 6'0.5" with shoes on, so you're likely 5'11" - 5'11.5". Not 6' barefoot.
That depends on the shoe. Some shoes only add half an inch to your height, most common is 0.75-1 inch though
He said “AROUND 6 foot maybe a little under”, you’re just proving what he already stated.
this things don't work accuratly very out dated tape measure or doctors is more accurate
@Prosper yup it makes your shorter
@@shulakb197 How much does it makes you shorter could it be 0,5 cm or even a 1cm???
@@lemarocain2716 it isn’t used for measuring height so by 0.5-1cm (not a big difference but it’s still not completely accurate)
It’s actual the opposite, lmfao. Tape measures are flimsy and tend to give inconsistent readings, especially if you’re doing it by yourself. Stadiometers are stable and equipped with levers and other types of mechanisms to ensure accuracy.
Why do the inches look larger than on a tape measure?
