      @@Mister_MasterzRN Yeah but I wasn't talking about modes (you'd change by using the buttons), I was talking about putting the gearbox in S (you'd push the lever to the left). It's the same gesture you would do to go to the manual gearbox, except if you don't actually switch gears afterwards, it still does so automatically, only it's way more agressive!

    And remember folks you DONT need to press unlock when going from R into D …only when going from D to R you need to press unlock and to come out of Park ….as for neutral - don’t use it , use your break unless your pushing your car neutral is required . As stated in the manual 💯

      DTC is your traction control and stability control, no damage will happen if you turn it off however it increases the probability of losing control if you do not know how to properly handle the vehicle during heavy driving or adverse road conditions. Use the AC whenever you want that is what it is there for.

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  3 года назад +3

      In manual mode you can shift up in normal driving from around 2500-4k rpm, in sporty driving you can shift up between 4-6k without issue, downshift you be a lower rpm than your upshift counterpart based on driving style. In the worst case scenario the transmission will shift up automatically even in manual mode if you hit the red line, we've accidentally done this a few time and that is the only reason why I know it works.

    what is the difference between Sport mode activated in the gearbox and activated by a button

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  12 дней назад +1

      The sport mode button changes suspension stiffness, throttle response, and transmission shift points and responsiveness. Sport on the gearbox only changes shifting patterns within the transmission for a more aggressive driving style. The car is best setup when both are in sport but this is not a requirement.

    Hi, What is the difference between Sports(D) vs Sports(M/S) both in Automatic mode. Another question - In Sports(M/S), I can still drive without shifting up and down and get the same result with Sports Automatic M/S?

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  2 года назад +4

      Sports(D) changes the engine, suspension, and rpm shift points. Sports(M/S) changes the transmission shift points and speed to be at sporty as possible. M/S stands for Manual/Sport meaning you can drive it manually or drive in the sport setting for the automatic. You can get similar results from both.

    • @sunstruckk
      @sunstruckk 2 года назад

      Thank you Brandon, it helps. Have other question please. Will there be a diff in the result Sports(D) vs Sports(M/S without up or down). I do understand there won’t be diff SportsM vs Sports MS-Automatic.

    • @davidm2.johnston684
      @davidm2.johnston684 2 года назад +5

      @@sunstruckk Hey I can answer that one! Yeah there's a huge difference between sport (D) and sport (S). The second one is much more aggressive in the gears it chooses, meaning that it will always give you the best performing gear, with almost no regard for fuel economy. The engine is always revving high. Also, the gear chances happen faster, it's more snappy, you can feel your head bopping backwards when the gear shifts.
      In summary, sport (S) is a blast! :-)

    Would driving in sport automatic wear the engine down or have any negative effects besides less mpg?

    • @xewokk6449
      @xewokk6449 3 года назад +4

      It should not it just makes the car more responsive but depending on how you drive it in sport mode can effect the engine… putting constant stress and pushing your engine to the max constantly can effect it in any mode… but if your asking if you can daily drive it in sport mode then yes you can and it shouldn’t effect the engine

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  3 года назад +7

      Exactly what xEwokk said you should not wear your engine out sooner than normal if you use for daily driving but drive normally( driving under 3500-4k rpms) your engine and transmission should be fine and actually may prevent the buildup of carb and other related things. However if you push the car and drive aggressively everywhere you will shorten the life of your key components such as your engine and transmission.

    Hi Brandon, this was helpful, thank you, but I have more questions. I normally drive in D since I'm used to automatic transmissions. There is a very steep hill I often go up that has a light at the top (which is almost always red). I've just been keeping the car in D since it seems to work fine and I'm confused by the other modes. Is this ok or should I switch to the manual/sport modes? If yes, what is the difference between M1 and S1? Thanks

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  2 года назад +6

      Since your car has a automatic transmission it does not matter which gear setting or mode you use when sitting at the light on the hill, it will pull away the same every time because you are always starting in first gear. If you use sport mode it should give it more power off the line. M1 (manual 1st gear) shows you what gear you have manually selected, S1 (sport 1st gear) show you what gear you are in in the sport automatic mode. The number next to the letter states the current gear, M1,2,3 or S1,2,3 etc.

    I just ordered the X 1 today to be delivered to me on Friday. However I just realized it has this steptronic transmission. I’m about to cancel the order because Im not sure I can get used to this. I don’t know how to drive manual and the automatic mode is so different. Is there a 3rd pedal for the manual mode?

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  2 года назад +7

      The steptronic transmission is fully automatic, so there is no third pedal or the need to engage a clutch, the car does that itself. The manual mode is a very common feature on all automatic transmissions, and essentially it allows you to select which gear you want the car in instead of the car choosing itself, and it's for optional use. If you do not want to mess with the manual function simply pull the gear lever back to put it in drive and your good to go.

      No, while you are driving you do not need to hit the brakes to shift, only time the brakes are needed is during start up, moving from Park to any gear for from Neutral to any gear and obviously to stop.

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  3 года назад +1

      If the car does not have sport+ or M-sport transmission ( will show up as S1,2,3 etc instead of DS) then launch control is not possible. However you can just brake boost launch the car and the performance is similar.

      What is launch control? Likewise what is a brake boost launch?

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  3 года назад

      Launch control is a special mode that most sports cars have today and what it does is launch the vehicle from the best RPM for the quickest acceleration. Most times to activate you select the feature put your foot on the brake and floor the gas at the same time and wait for it to say ready then let off the brake and go.
      Brake boost is basically the same thing, the only difference is the vehicle doesn't do it for you, you have to create it yourself. Most times just hold the brake and press the gas down to the point right before your tires start spinning (creating a burnout), Then go.

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  2 года назад +2

      If your mini is a automatic you don't have to let off the gas to shift, in auto cars when shifting manually when you let off the gas in between gears it actually slows you down more than it helps most times.

    Hi how can you shift in to neutral when in manual ?, cause theres so many hills in my place , just to save fuel lol

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  3 года назад +4

      You would have to slide the shifter back to drive then neutral to do what you are seeking, there is not a direct path. However these cars are very fuel efficient and are designed to sit in gear for extended periods of time. They have a sort of built in neutral when you sit in gear for a while, that's why there is sometime a small lag when you hit the gas. I would just leave it in gear since it is not a direct path and you will spend more messing with the shifter then needed.

    Hi
    So quick question.
    It has a sport mode, which is the button on top of the eco mode. Then it still has a more aggressive sport mode (press the sport mode button and then shift the gear to the left)
    Is this correct ?
    I always thought shifting it to the left and clicking sport was the same function.

    • @brandonbelanger_Official
      @brandonbelanger_Official  2 года назад +4

      The sport mode button makes the suspension, engine and shift points more aggressive, when you shift the gear to the left it makes the transmission more aggressive by shifting later and shifting faster. The button changes things in the whole car while the gear leveler changes only the transmission settings. When combined the most aggressive setting is achieved.
