Fascinating, especially with the comparisons or Latin rite vs.Eastern rite. Opened up my Catholic school girl eyes.

I am a Medieval person in a modern body......I loved this statement Pat. So am I and this episode resonated with me on every level. Well done by all. Thank you.❤

Only this show could have the most erudite discussion to put into focus something we all learned in rudimentary terms and make everything click 💡
    Bravi!

Patrick I too am medieval in mind! Love to do a video podcast with you from Australia to continue malocchio discussion. Surprised you didn’t use the terms ‘affascinato, and spascinare,’ as a theology major we’d have much to chat over re the malocchio and Catholicism and Calabrian traditions. John e Patrick siete una meraviglia! Grazie per questo podcast così interessante❤

So you talk about the many different ways to remove the mallocchio. In my family you would trace the sign of the cross on the persons hand, wrist, arm and say a prayer. The more the person doing this yawned the more they were taking the mallocchio out of you.
I would love to know that prayer if anyone has any versions of it.
Thanks for this episode brought back many great memories

FYI, the Southern Italian diaspora mid to late 1800's, post 'unification', spread to Canada as well. My paternal grandparents settled in Toronto in 1890's, where there was already an established Italian immigrant community.

And btw....you guys are right, in general, the Greeks are not like all Italians, but are pretty much EXACTLY like i Calabresi specifically in terms of their manere.
