Thank You! One of the reasons we love him is the way he always credits the musos, and other singers...note right at the end he immediately acknowledged the guitarist. He keeps it humble...or maybe his wife keeps it humble. He said after a tour he gets home and says make me a cuppa and she says make it yourself! He would have been about 54 in this. Cheers Mr McGee!
This tour was called “The last time” because he was retiring. He retired 3 times because every time he did, Aussie’s just wanted him back. One of his last performances before he got mouth cancer, was the NSW Firefighters benefit concert in February 2020 with Olivia Newton John. He was 70. He has recovered from the operation but does not sing any more.

Glad you've discovered one of the best singers of all time! He's one of Australia's most enduring, loved and respected talents. He's 54 in this video, and 72 now, but can still sing the hell out of anything.
Our beloved John... my heart is breaking for him today....he lost him very best mate/soul brother/long time manager, Glen Wheatley, to Covid last night. Sincere love and sympathy, John..R.I.P. Glen xxxx PS John has been performing since this one...still got the voice.
Song was written by Steve Prestwich who was the drummer for Little River Band that John was in,then went on to become the drummer for Cold Chisel..Steve took his own life after battling depression for years.I think both John & Jimmy have the right to sing this in Steves honour.
John would have been about 54 here. As you can see he is still singing as great as ever. That's why we call him The Voice. He went on singing much later than this. He sang with Queen in the bush fire relief concert just a couple of years back before Covid struck and everything got cancelled.
The best thing going to a Farnham concert apart from his great singing voice Was the fun he had on stage and the jokes and interaction with the crowd. Nòooo I'm not singing bloody Sadie 😂😂😂😂
John actually doesn't mind singing it. As he said it was the reason he made it as a young singer Also he said he likes playing with the crowd by saying no more bloody Sadie lol
Have seen him 3 times in concert and what you hear is what you get...such a talented singer. Love him heaps. Proud Aussie. Thank you for appreciating a great performer.
I remember when a young John had his very first hit song "Sadie The Cleaning Lady" I said then that he had a great voice and would become a star performer but I did not dream that he would become the legend that he is today...He truly is the voice!
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra concert was in 1989. This concert was in 2003. The last time I saw him live (the 5th time) was in 2010. Every performance was phenomenal. His voice just didn’t age.
Cold Chisel with Jimmy Barnes is great singing this song. John Farnham just takes it to a whole other stratosphere. No-one can sing like him. Not even Jimmy....
This is my favourite version of the song that he has ever performed! There are great renditions when he was younger, but this one is so...melancholy or something...he is that much older and he sings it with the passion and insight of look at everything I've done over the last 50yrs, looking back at all the glory he has earned...its like we can see him reflecting over his entire career. Just beautiful stuff!
I’ve seen this so many times and every single time I’m speechless when he sings this. Brett Garsed is amazing on guitar too. Cold Chisels original version has always been my favourite - until I heard John sing it .
Thanks for showcasing John in this particular performance. It is my all time favourite song and performance by him. He was about 54 when he did this and just wow. Gets me every time. So glad you got to see this one ... it's a great song sung with so much passion and belief in the message. Yes, the guitar is fabulous - everything is fabulous.
Watching this on the final night of our 4th lockdown here I. Melbourne, where this was filmed. Thanks for reminding me of yet another reason I’m so damn glad to be born here. Good god, John is a treasure.
@@TeezMcGee it’s all relative - the big lockdown was almost 4 months long, with an 8pm curfew. Brutal, and I never wanna repeat it, but it’s also a big part of how the country has remained almost COVID free - so in that sense, proud at how we all rallied ☺️
It has the awesome drums in it, because the song was written by a drummer - Steve Prestwich (RIP) from Cold Chisel. It was released in 1982 on the Circus Animals album. A brilliant song and a brilliant band - and John Farnham (aka. The Voice) rocks it too.
Oh god we love him so much. 2003..we all get older lol... but he sounds almost as good today, still. The lyric of this one is valid in todays war against Covid.
You can see how much John is loved in he video of him performing you’re the voice with Coldplay there’s probably 40,000 people in the stadium and most of them where probably in their 20s and the crowd was going insane for him singing the chorus while John let them take over the song . One of the most loved aussies we have
went to a live concert where John was supporting Lionel Ritchie , poor old Lionel had to pull out all the stops to even get close to John's effortless performance !
John would have been 54 years old in the Last Time concert, and his voice had not changed. Watch 2019 Fire Fight concert where he is 70 years old, and still sings the same pure notes that he always has !
Its a Cold Chisel song (Jimmy Barnes band) written by the DRUMMER, Steve Prestwich (R.I.P.). This is THE anthem.. Goosebumps from the first line.. Cold Chisel were an Aussie "pub rock" band, this was one of a few beautiful melodic songs they had over the years.. but they some serious hard rock tunes. Screaming 4 bar lead solo!!! That high octave, with vibrato, singing with the mic a foot or more away from his mouth.. wow And the cute amazing female backing singer is my drummer mates SISTER!!! haha
Don't know if you have been told about some of the latest news on John. He was diagnosed with cancer of the jaw and had emergency surgery for a large tumour. He is now in rehab but it will be a long road and he has to learn how to speak again, let alone sing. Send love out to him. We Aussies have had him in our lives since he was in his 20s and now he is in early 70s. He is the sweetest man. And his voice - he is THE VOICE.
John Farnham has sung a number of 'Cold Chisel' numbers over the years, including a great number with Cold Chisel's lead singer Jimmy Barnes and (American-born) Johnny Deisel on guitar, called "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" (1991), on Jimmy Barnes RUclips channel. But IMO, one of the best duets is Jimmy Barnes and Tina Turner (Johnny Deisel accompanying) singing 'Simply the Best' which became a promo song for the Australian Rugby League.
To me, John's God Blessed talent is only surpassed by the fact he has kept his musical crew around him for 25 years. He's a GOOD GUY. Nice job Teez! Farnham is not Karoke authorized!

There's a running gag now about the amount of "retirement from the stage" John has had. Like "He's had more lives than John Farnham has had farewell concerts." I think he sold out about 25 in Sydney alone, he had to keep coming back after touring other cities. Could have sold another 20 if he didn't stop.
Hi new Aussie sub here! This is a cover of Aussie rock group, COLD CHISEL! Please react to the original, featuring Jimmy Barnes. John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes, When something is wrong with my baby. Thanks
John is now 72 and so loved. Pretty sure I was at that concert and the Last Time was the beginning of him retiring. Then I went to him retiring again in Melbourne in 2009 or 2013. He has done about 4 retirement tours but his wife Jilly keeps sending him back to work because she says he gets fat at home. Jilly knows he needs to sing. Doesn’t matter how old John gets, the voice remains. He showed us that at the “fire fight appeal”. His concerts still remain the best I’ve been to.
