Right on Bro!! I’m Mike I’m 65 years old! And I’m like you , I’ve been riding my Excelsior Henderson for years, 750 pounds, last year I bought my 2024 T 120 DGR Edition, I absolutely love it !! Lighter and more nimble! 👍🏼

I smile every time I roll my T120 out of the garage and don't have to take a break to recover from the effort. As we all get older it gets harder to swing your right leg over a high seat. But the mid-pegs of the Triumph make it simple to stand up while the bike is on the side stand and swing a leg over. I just added a Madstad windshield and it is a huge improvement. Check out the video that shows the installation process.

I'm planning on adding a hard top box next. Love my Triumph!

I'm located in MS on the Alabama border. I'm 71 myself. I'm currently in the "exchanging emails" status of trying to purchase a new T120 from D&D. I've owned multiple Harleys and my current Road King at 800 plus pounds is way too heavy to suit me at this stage of my life. I've been riding my entire adult life and the Bonneville is exactly what I need right now. Anyone who complains about their midsize bike feeling too heavy needs to throw a leg over my RK for some perspective. I'm convinced the T120 will be my last bike. Anyway, I'd like your opinion on D&D's integrity and fair dealing on bikes, if you've done any business with them. Thanks for the review! Maybe we'll meet each other on one of our rides on the coast.
    regards,
    Ken

I pretty much made the same decision. I have been riding all my life and have had 5 Harleys, including a Road King, Hondas (Goldwing), Yamahas (Venture Royale and Road Star -700lbs) BMW, and 2 Norton Commandos. I almost dropped the Road Star and pulled a groin muscle in the process. That's when I made up my mind that something would have to change or my riding days were over. I had ridden the T120 several years ago and it reminded me of my Honda CB 450 that I rode during high school and college. At just over 500 lbs and with plenty of power it was a perfect bike for us older guys. I looked at all the mid size bikes that the dealers had, Honda Rebel, Harley Sportster, Kawasaki Eliminator, Suzuki Cruiser, and finally stopped at D&D. D&D is a family owned shop and operates like it. You don't get the game playing like you get at one of those corporate dealers. Like at the Harley dealer where they wanted to charge 30% interest on a $20K Sportster. The price D&D quoted was the price I paid, the deal was straight forward and I didn't feel like I was getting screwed by a used car dealer. Of all the motorcycle dealers in our area Id have to say I would trust D&D way above any of the corporate dealerships. Don't wait any longer you will absolutely love the T120. I added a center stand when I bought mine. D&D sold it to me at cost and installed it for free. They will install accessories for free when you first take delivery. Not gonna get a deal like that anywhere else. Glad you like the video, hope you will consider subscribing.

I really enjoy being able to easily wheel it around the garage and back it out. A lot of folks say this is a heavy bike. They probably have never ridden a Harley Road Glide or that gigantic Yamaha Venture touring bike that weights 1,000 lbs. Light and small is the answer.

Just wish they had metal fenders.
Rear brake lever is to low.
Still a crazy fun bike to ride!
    R. I . P. Harley!

You are sooo right. I was a little put off with the plastic fenders because they scream DisposaCycle. Just imagine if someone tries to recommission one of these in 20-40 years. The plastic fenders would be brittle and useless and there sure will not be replacement parts. I also agree the rear brake lever is too low and has no adjustment. I thought about finding a small rubber pedal and bolting it onto the existing pedal, but couldn't find anything suitable. Glad you shared your experience and commented. Hope you will consider subscribing. If you have any ideas for future videos please let me know.

After checking several videos on the T120 and the Speedmaster, one thing about the Triumph engines is having to remove the cams the set the valve clearance. To adjust the valves the shims under the cams have to be replaced. Most bikes I’ve had with shim/ bucket setup, a tool is available to depress the spring and slip the shim out. Apparently there isn’t room in the valve cover area without removing the cams. If you are mechanically inclined it doesn’t appear to be too difficult. But I’m sure shop rates will get in your pocket.

I did not realize that was the case. Ill ask our local Triumph dealer about that and see what its going to cost.

I checked with the head mechanic at D&D cycles in Pensacola. He showed me the service manual and technically you don't have to remove the cam. You just lift up the rocker assembly, replace the shim as required and put the rocker assembly back in place. But, he also said the valves don't have to be checked until 20K and once they are checked and set they usually don't need readjusting. I always adjusted my own valves when we had nut and screw adjusters. But he says this design doesn't require as frequent valve checks as the old design. So it may be worth it to just let the shop do that particular job. Thanks for the comment and I hope you subscribed.

I've got the same bike, same color. Love it love it love it. Nice review of the bike. I agree with the anemic horn, lol. I love the torque of the engjne. I'm getting 59 to 60 mpg with mine. It's a do it all motorcycle.
I'm 64 and totally agree with your assessment of the bike. It's great. Enjoy it and be safe.
Edit: the stock pirelli tires suck! Did you get the michelins?

    • @ridingonabudget
      @ridingonabudget  5 месяцев назад +2

The tire are almost brand new, but I'm aware of the need to switch to the Michelins or Avon if available. I sold my heavy cruiser bike and bought the T120. Wow what a difference. I was almost to the point of quitting riding, but the T120 is so easy to ride Ill be in the saddle for a long time to come. Thanks for the comment and hope you subscribed. More T120 content is in the works.

@ridingonabudget I tried to get the Avon's but they where really hard to find in the u.s. I ended up with Bridgestone battlax tires as I've heard good things about them on the Bonnevilles. I've yet to get them installed because life sometimes gets in the way.
Yeah I subscribed, lol. I have a channel also.

None so far. It is a little hard to get my toe under it to shift up with boots on. Other than that no problems.

I raised the shift lever and solved getting my toe under the lever. Its a really easy fix, took about 5 minutes. Thanks for the comment, hope you subscribed.
