It isn't going to show on camera. And the audio differences won't fully come thru either. Those kind of comparisons are useless in a video. That OLED display is really nice, but it's value is subjective. If you are going to use it outside, the brighter OLED is going to work a lot better.
I think it is more digitally blown up whilst the iPad Pro has a richer sound but not as loud. The iPad Pro likely has the ability to be edited much more than the Air… think RAW vs HEIF / JPEG photos
The air's microphone sounds slightly tinny, but the pro's microphone is extremely hollow and echos. Of the two I much prefer the air. Still, you're not going to be using the microphone for any real professional purposes.
I am still getting some of my new iPad Pro 11 M4 functions set up. But when I've had time to play around with it, like watching this video, playing some tunes and some games, I've really enjoyed it. I traded up from an iPad Pro 2'nd Generation, and oh my! That screen is stellar. Plus the sound is very good. Both are a Huge improvement. I'm loving the crispness of images on the screen. And it doesn't seem ro hurt my eyes so much. I log a lot of screen time and eye fatigue has always been an issue. So I may be falling in love with it. As long as I don't look at the price. Thanks for the video.
As a highly sensitive person who suffers from severe overstimulation I had to return my M4 Pro I’d preordered. The high contract of the OLED caused severe migraine and sensory issues for me which I was quite upset about given how excited I was to to upgrade my M1 11 Pro with one. At this point with wanting a 13 inch and needing more storage than my current 128gb it looks like the 13 M2 Air is about my only option. I know I’m in the minority here but I’m glad they now offer it as it seems to be a perfect fit for me
In a way, you can feel the difference and definitely the thickness difference between the iPad Pro 13 and iPad Air M2. I have both and it’s quite noticeable, especially if you had the iPad Pro 12.9 M2 :) Thermals is so much better too, my iPad Pro M2 used to overheat a lot when I am rending large batch of images or importing large amount of photos into Lightroom.
When holding a device, that’s already thin, you would be able to feel the thinness, but weight difference has to be a lot more, to be able to appreciate it, but in this case he’s holding both of the devices together.

I was considering buying the Air M2 13" after watching a lot of videos. But today, I was ahead of Pro and Air... And the screen is so much better (for me) with OLED. Huge difference. So I'm going to go for the Pro. I don't really need that much power, but my iPad is the 1st generation iPad Pro. 8 years of happiness :)
The incompatibility with the new apple pencil is no doubt a marketing tactic to help convince people to upgrade. Anyway it's only minorly different so you aren't missing out on much.
I opted for the 13” M2 iPad Air after owning an 11” M2 iPad Pro. Honestly, I don’t notice any difference playing Call of Duty with the change from 120Hz to 60Hz, and when I was in the store I went in thinking I’d get an M4 iPad Pro, but didn’t think it was worth the extra cash after trying it out. 1 mm thinner? A 0.08lbs less weight? Better in the dark? None of it mattered for me. But, try them out and see for yourself in the store. The other thing is, despite the benchmarking numbers, I’ve found that in real world everyday use there isn’t much of a difference when using photoshop, excel or Final Cut Pro (at least not for the relatively small projects that I use it for).
I think the different looks “small” on paper, but it’s how we use it in daily life that’s matter. If you gonna spend this much money on an IPad, then IPad must be your most used device after the IPhone. ( Assuming you guys use IPad more than Mac ) why not get the latest and greatest technology? It will last you for years, remember how many people still use an IPad pro 2018 and not having any issues? Here is how I personally think why you should get the Pro instead of the Air: - Face ID is subjectively better than touch ID on the power button on the Air. You may think it’s not a big issue, but it add up on daily life where everytime you want to unlock the device, you have to touch the tiny button on the top which is annoying and making the whole unlock experience feels slow. - The screen is what you looking at most of the time and most of people are fine with 60hz LCD on the air because they might never have a Pro before. With 120hz becoming standard, it’s time to change maybe? The Pro display is much brighter which makes it useable outdoors. - The Pro is thinner and lighter which makes it easier to use as a tablet. This is another thing that you must use it in your daily life to notice but it does add up. - The Pro speaker is amazing and again, is what you use most of the time right? It has 4 speakers and really make the watching movies or RUclips experiences become much better. The AIr speaker is OK too, but if think of how much time you will spent listening to music, watching movies on that ipad, would it be much better to have the speaker with more bass assuming you will be using the device for like 4-5 years? - 500$ is a lot, but think of long term, it might worth it. That also gave you a few more years of future proof. If you buy IPad like every 2 years, then yeah never mind. But if you really want to get this ipad and use it for a decade, then get the Pro.

As much as I want one of these. Because of the price and OS. A MacBook Air and a iPad or iPad mini still is the better purchase. (For non Creatives) Let’s see if something changes in WWDC.
This video is a good example of Apple’s pricing ladder. You start with iPad 10, look for more storage, think Air is not too far and do the same with Pro. All iPads run the same OS, and overall experience feels the same. If something works for you don’t upgrade. If it’s your first iPad, iPad 10 is already a great tablet. Even MKBHD is not upgrading to M4 Pro, because M1 still got so much life left.
if you put 256 GB on the 13" iPad Air to match the iPad Pro base, both with wiFi and cellular, and buy on Amazon now the difference is $371.37 - $420 actually depending on your color choice. With 2 year Apple Care the difference is $440.38. Apple Care is $99.99 for iPad Air and $169 for Pro I like the iPad Pro more now
Great comparison. Purchased the iPad Pro M4 last week on a whim as my 2nd generation iPad Pro was getting long in the tooth but I was second guessing myself. Was it worth the price difference compared to the iPad Air 13? Wasn't so sure until I watched your video. I'm keeping it! Thanks.
The Air is the old 2018-2020 pro..but they do the same....not enought Pro apps to justifiy the Pro. The Pro has cut down desktop functionality but cost more than a macbook when you add keyboard and Pen...
I am considering getting the 11inch model. I would make full use of its power for video editing. My only concern is with PWM. Flickering from OLED screen affects my eyes. In saying that I have the iPhone 14 Pro Max and above 30% brightness I don’t really notice it due to DCI dimming. Do think the same applies to this iPad?
I'm not sure you haven't already bought it. But that iPad Pro M4 OLED screen is much worse than iPhone 13/14/15 Pro. Its flickering so bad. The last time I felt that using Apple devices was when I used iPhone X. Seems like first Apple OLED devices has not great display speaking of PWM
The lack of 120HZ it’s a HUGE deal breaker for me, cause once you use an iPad with 120HZ display you can’t go back to 60Hz cause the UI feels slow and clanky .
Here in Canada, the price gap is gigantic between the two after tax, especially if you add the pencil pro and a magic keyboard. It's around an $800 difference, or around $1000 if you add things like cellular.
I don’t mind spending a bit more money on the M4 pro but then again do I really need that much power on the pro? All I need it is for streaming, web browsing, and some email Any recommendations please o
Maybe too specific, but could you have a shootout between a used M1 13in iPad Pro with mini LED (going for $800 on ebay), the 13in iPad Air, and the new 13in iPad Pro? I think that could be a good video to show the difference in display technology, chip speed, and accessory compatability. Furthermore I’m really curious how well each of them will support iPad OS 18 features, namely how they handle the Apple Intelligence suite. Thanks for your videos man.
For 500 dollars you are getting 120hz, a thinner device, more base storage, better speakers, and better microphones, Face ID, thunderbolt, OLED display, and a chipset which is 2 generations ahead. Definitely worth it in my opinion.
I’m waiting to see what the M4/Pro exclusive iOS features will be. That will likely be the biggest selling point for upgrade. I have a sneaking suspicion that they skipped the M3 and went straight to the M4 for the new neural engine for AI features. Maybe even more features that take it closer to MacOS.
Here I will this this easy wothout having to watch the video. If you want a tablet. Get the 11 inch. If you want a 2 in 1. Get the 13 inch. If you are a picture snob. Get the pro. If you are not. Get the Air. That is all you need to know. Just get your storage size from there.
The one with M4 would be better for AI stuff, 3D rendering, gaming. The future will be AI. You can easily use it for 7 years. So just split the cost through 84 months. And of course you get all the other benefits. Specially the better screen is a thing you will notice on every usage. I would not buy a M2 based machine these days. Also think about the security flaws they have in the chips lower then M3. Maybe crucial for business usage in high security areas.
The funny thing about the ipad keyboard with trackpad is when you actually have to press on the screen it wobbles off balance instantly unlike the macbook which is sturdy.
Thanks man you helped me make my choice!! I will be buying an iPad Pro 13” 256gb with 5g so I can have internet everywhere 👍👍👍 can’t wait to use this in upgrading from my galaxy Tab S7+ with 5G and I’m an iPhone user so can’t wait to have a better experience 😊
Better to go for a 12.9 IPad Pro mini LED than the lame new Air’s. The best IPad’s to get is the 10th generation IPad, IPad 11 M4 base model and IPad 13 M4 1tb model.
Yeah… Na, I’ll stick to my iPad 10, thank you. I really don’t need an M4 or an M2 to take notes, view pdfs, and watch Netflix. Which is what 90ish % of people actually use their iPads for. If I want to do any real work I’ll stick to my laptop.
I was wondering if the some of the hardware and media experience is better on the Pro. I think the Pros have better speakers and display. I was just planning on buying my dad the older iPad Pro because he wants the larger screen for better media playback. It was only this year a budget iPad had a 13 inch screen. But I feel that just getting older iPad Pro would yield a better media experience if the older Pro is around the same price as the newer Air.
The iPad Air with 60Hz LED screen is really outdated in 2024. Why not scrap the Air and give the basic iPad a M2 processor. The Air isn’t even lighter any more. Apple should really think how to position the iPad Air.
I still don’t know what I’m going to buy. I had an iPad that’s an older generation that I had passed on about 23 years ago because I just wasn’t using it. I’m back to a point where I will be able to get back into some of the hobbies that I enjoy so I have to buy everything pencil keyboard, all of it and torn between which direction I want to go I usually keep whatever I get for 3 to 4 years and pass it to somebody else either a parent or friends child that might need one just whoever happens to be in need of an iPad or iPhone or whatever I’m upgrading. So I want to go with an option that allows for that I know I’m definitely getting a 13 inch.. I think I’m just going to wait for the software conference
Stop using ‘don’t choose wrong this don’t choose wrong that’s kind of click bait headliners. If I choose wrong I can just return it for free and get another one.
Right, basically people just have to choose what's better for them. The larger ipad pro is always going to be the best, the smaller one comes second best. Then comes, the ipad air, mini and base models. Nothing is new, I just ignore the title.😅
As long as you can't do much on an iPad during it's OS limitations, spending $1300+ on iPad just for watching content is insane. Thanks, but I'm keeping my iPad Air 4 for a long long time.
The iPad Pro M4 costs $2k SGD for the base 13” inch model. Ludicrous compared to the $1350 SGD in the same configuration in the iPad Air. The entry level iPad Air 13” is $1150 SGD for 128GB
Got the 1tb 13 inch with the 16 gb ram and upgraded 10 core cpu. Super fast and smooth. Crazy that they only give the upgraded chip if you get the 1 or 2 tb storage option. I feel like they could’ve put that in the smaller storage options too.
I tried the air and When I scrolled through my notes it gave me nausea. Later realized it’s because of the 60Hz. Love the OLED and the 120 Hz. Last years pro is only 150 dollars less. With the additiontional price I am getting Oled, m4, 256 gb. I think the new pro is totally worth it.
The M4 is a 13” display. Apple has the measurements. I’ve also measured it. It’s actually a tenth larger. Does it matter? No, not really. But it’s not Apple renaming the same thing, it’s a new thing. There will still be people, after this brief review, who still question buying the M4 over other iPads. To get this straight, Apple isn’t trying to sell the Pro line to everyone. They know that the average person doesn’t need it. But if you do art, photo editing, video editing, graphics, Cad and other work for a living, then it makes a difference. And if you do that work for a living, you should know that you can buy this as a capital expense. For tax reasons, you can then depreciate it over three years and get most of your money back, and then you can sell it. If you’re not really a pro, then you can’t. So then, unless you just want the best and can afford it, you have to swallow the cost.
As it stands, unless you’re an artist who can take advantage of the new pencil. Or if that centerized camera is suuuuper important. Theres no reason for the new pro. Wwdc will really reveal if theres any major need for m4 chips and processing power. Cause if not, just buy an m2 pro or m1 pro 12.9 So much better value across the board other than new battery.
So the Ipad Air is better then, unless you need a "professional " tablet to listen to loud music and watch videos of fireworks. If however you want an Ipad for professional work, sketching, designing, taking notes etc, then the last thing you want is an OLED display which will burn in and degrade in absolutely no time at all.
i think apple would give the next MacBook pros the m4 pro and higher and that's their future plan, giving ipads and macbook airs the base chips and leaving the pro chips for the pro devices like the macbook pro and mac...
Best to go cheap on iPads as the cheap models do everything the new models do. If an artist then maybe it makes sense to splash out on a big new one but apart from that can't see the value. Let's hope Apple delivers some major improvements to iPadOS at WWDC that makes the expensive models more worthwhile.

If it's not 120 hz, but at least 90 hz. I hope the ipad airs 7 2025 will make sense. It's too pricey for 60hz imagine if it was 120hz.😬
@@whitemilkcoco only Apple to charge $800 for a device with 60hz in 2024
The best OLED comparison 4:50
Here in Canada, the price gap is gigantic between the two after tax, especially if you add the pencil pro and a magic keyboard. It's around an $800 difference, or around $1000 if you add things like cellular.
Australia same
Battery life differences?
iPads tend to have the same battery life rates
I don’t mind spending a bit more money on the M4 pro but then again do I really need that much power on the pro? All I need it is for streaming, web browsing, and some email Any recommendations please o
then just get air, unless 500$ extra is nothing for you
tab s9 fe is good choice
3 minutes about hdr videos nobody watches, but no info about battery lmao
Yes, do not make the wrong choice, just stay on the current M2 iPad Pro
If I'm buying based on future proofing which one should I get?
The one with M4 would be better for AI stuff, 3D rendering, gaming. The future will be AI. You can easily use it for 7 years. So just split the cost through 84 months. And of course you get all the other benefits. Specially the better screen is a thing you will notice on every usage. I would not buy a M2 based machine these days. Also think about the security flaws they have in the chips lower then M3. Maybe crucial for business usage in high security areas.
@@iXeo81 thank you
Top or bottom is the Pro?
In the first video with black bars, the top has bloom, the bottom is completely black
The funny thing about the ipad keyboard with trackpad is when you actually have to press on the screen it wobbles off balance instantly unlike the macbook which is sturdy.
Thanks man you helped me make my choice!! I will be buying an iPad Pro 13” 256gb with 5g so I can have internet everywhere 👍👍👍 can’t wait to use this in upgrading from my galaxy Tab S7+ with 5G and I’m an iPhone user so can’t wait to have a better experience 😊
i would love if you can make a comparison of IPad Pro M2 vs IPad Air M2. since they have the same chip and all.
You need to compare the iPad Air 13 to the M2 12.9 inch iPad Pro.
M2 pro better with 120 Hz otherwise same
Better to go for a 12.9 IPad Pro mini LED than the lame new Air’s. The best IPad’s to get is the 10th generation IPad, IPad 11 M4 base model and IPad 13 M4 1tb model.
This man is an Apple salesman
The M4 iPad Pros are beasts. Really impressive. And that was the 9 core M4 that blew away the M2!
I just traded in an older 4th gen iPad Pro (2020) to get the M2 iPad Air and have no regrets
Bro the tandem bright ass oled with inky blacks bro.. definitely I have to spend the extra 500
Ofc if you are not sensitive to flicker
I was wondering if the some of the hardware and media experience is better on the Pro. I think the Pros have better speakers and display. I was just planning on buying my dad the older iPad Pro because he wants the larger screen for better media playback. It was only this year a budget iPad had a 13 inch screen. But I feel that just getting older iPad Pro would yield a better media experience if the older Pro is around the same price as the newer Air.
iPad can last in very long time iven air or pro bc it’s in you if how you treat it
I can trade in my M2 iPad Pro and get the M4 for less than the M2 iPad Air
Great video bro and I agree with your findings. I'm really liking my M4 iPad Pro 256GB space grey
If you’re keeping an ipad for your household for 10 years going with the higher trim iPad Pro m4 for sure and spend those extra $500
3:43 but why there's glowing light at the top and bottom of the video in the ipad pro?
I guess it's the "new" youtube function so you can see the video colors outside of RUclips a bit
The iPad Air with 60Hz LED screen is really outdated in 2024. Why not scrap the Air and give the basic iPad a M2 processor. The Air isn’t even lighter any more. Apple should really think how to position the iPad Air.
Watching this video on my $250 ipad 9
You should do a review with the iPad Pro 13"M1 vs iPad Air 13" M2 seeing that they are both close in price according to Apple’s website
Turn off the ambient mode on both when Compare RUclips videos I know u know 😒
Stop using ‘don’t choose wrong this don’t choose wrong that’s kind of click bait headliners.
Thank you so much for helping me make my decision. iPad Pro for me.
you should compare ipad pro m2 with ipad air m2. with the price too
The iPad Pro M4 costs $2k SGD for the base 13” inch model. Ludicrous compared to the $1350 SGD in the same configuration in the iPad Air. The entry level iPad Air 13” is $1150 SGD for 128GB
the new iPad Pro 11 Zoll or the iPad Air 13 for a student?
I plan on getting the M4 iPad Pro on my cell phone account with AT&T. Hopefully I’ll be able to get the 13” base model.
getting the new one purely because the OLED screen will be more color accurate. Can't photo edit with the M1.
Such an Apple fan boy ➡️ he never says anything negative about Apple
Got the 1tb 13 inch with the 16 gb ram and upgraded 10 core cpu. Super fast and smooth. Crazy that they only give the upgraded chip if you get the 1 or 2 tb storage option. I feel like they could’ve put that in the smaller storage options too.
They have to get rid of their binned first release batch chips
I‘d like a M2 iPad Air vs M2 iPad Pro comparison (both sizes)…. I‘m thinking of rather buying an older Pro than the new Air…
The microphone quality of the iPad Air is 10times better! 😅
If you only want an ipad for netflix and youtube, then it’s not worth spending 4 digits
you sold me with the display crispiness
If it's less weight the iPad Air should be cheaper because less materials are used! :)
The right choice is iPad Pro m4 13” no question.
As it stands, unless you’re an artist who can take advantage of the new pencil. Or if that centerized camera is suuuuper important.
Theres no reason for the new pro. Wwdc will really reveal if theres any major need for m4 chips and processing power. Cause if not, just buy an m2 pro or m1 pro 12.9
So much better value across the board other than new battery.
The diff is $400 if you spec the Air to be 256k
At the end, it's still IPad... Limited functionality and uses.. No matter which one you buy and how much you spend... 😊
Don’t forget, education discount on air is $50 while pro is $100…… so even closer in price for all the upgrades
I love my 13” M4 Pro.
Yeah, on the Pro, the music is louder… so turn the volume up a little on the Air. LMAO
i think apple would give the next MacBook pros the m4 pro and higher and that's their future plan, giving ipads and macbook airs the base chips and leaving the pro chips for the pro devices like the macbook pro and mac...
what if you don't use it like a pro and just for content viewing ?
I mean should you buy an ipad while new surfaces woth WINDOWS offer a much better deal and come with a 16Gb Ram in the frist place
And I think you can even add more storage (user replaceable SSD).
Not only that, MS Surface Pro X-Elite has better battery life; but most importantly, it's actually a real computer that u can run any software u want.
