Hi Andy, I'm new to the party and a true beginner. Absolutely loving this video! Great how you break this down into segments and the close ups on your chords is really helpful. I can't seem to find chord sheet you are referring to. Am I missing it or can you post it here somewhere? Thanks so much, a new fan!
Hey thanks Andy new subscriber here. This is one of my favorite song to learn and get my fingers familiarize with different guitar chords with different guitar chords. I especially love the sound played in E chords. Will love to see a video of this song played in E chord. Thanks for this video
Hi Andy, I got sausage fingers and play my A chord with my first and second fingers and it rings out lovely. Is this cheating or lazy, the 2 options you give learners, (the three in a line or the triangle formation just doesn’t work. I feel a fraud 😢. 🫶 your lessons
We all use modifications to our chords as time passes John so if it works for you that's great. I've been playing a long time but I'm learning loads from Andy!
Thanks for eliminating barre chords! My old hands aren’t as strong anymore. Andy, I looked in the description box but did not find the chord sheet? Just the links to your website and lessons. Thank you!
Good point! Let me answer that: John Lennon wasn't a beginner guitarist by the time he was playing Hey Jude. This is arranged to be as beginner friendly as possible, while still being the song and not overly-simplfied. That's what I was aiming for anyway ✌️
It always throws me when the guitaist uses a capo then calls the chord names as if there was no capo, eg, he said D, C and G but the actual pitch, due to the capo, is F, Eb and Bb, same as the record.
Yep, I call it "capo key", works just like the "Transpose" button on a keyboard or synth. Yheres some high level theory to it if you want to dig into it, but you don't need to know the math behind it just to learn the song :)
But you’re essentially treating the 4th fret as your 1st fret now, and the chord finger shape you’re playing is indeed D, C and G. It would actually be confusing if he said F when you’re playing a D chord.

I'm not Andy obviously but I think playing an A major with 2 fingers is fine (it gives the finger that would be there, freedom to move around.

Is not to bother at all!!!
This song made me quit guitar lessons at 13 years old. Being forced to learn this song was the straw !
Key of F. Please name the chords correctly!
