- This review features the 2019 BMW 440i gran coupe, a forgotten BMW in my opinion. The BMW 440i might just be my most favorite modern day BMW however, a new 4 series replacement will be coming and I'm sure it will be nearly identical to the new 3 series. The way this 440i drives and handles is how I expect a BMW product to perform. If you are in the market for a new practical luxury sports sedan, the 2019 BMW 440i is an excellent pick amongst its steep competition from Audi and Mercedes.

I’m with you. On my second 4series. Had a 428xi, now a 2019 440xi with M sport package in snapper rocks blue. Car is a pleasure to drive and it is fast. BMW says 320hp. Has to be closer to 350. BMW also has been giving great incentives on this car with great loyalty packages. My girl loves this car.
Very cool and beautiful car sir. Yea BMW and most other German car companies underrate the performance it certainly hauls. Do you find the car to still comfortable with the M sport pack? Either way it still looks stunning.

Exhaust Sports Auto i am a owner. Really you need m exhausted package. Nicer sound, more power. Blue M brake is a must. It is just,,,,hot.

This is actually my favorite BMW. I like the 4 series Grand Coupe better than the 3 series by far. That Turbo 6 and ZF 8spd are an incredible powertrain.

Yeah, that was a generic statement about the powertrain. My intention wasn't to imply they were different in that regard. Sorry about the confusion.
What about compared to the 5?
Awesome review. I have wanted a 2 series or a 3 series for years now. Everyone loves the 2 series and 3 series and I have read so many great things. After driving them I was honestly underwhelmed. But after driving the 4 series gran coupe it just felt right. Driving it feel so natural like a car should be. This must be the most underrated bmw
I had this car for a year. I put over 20k miles on it and had no issues. It did go through water once and I had a drivetrain malfunction light, which corrected itself after 4 days of sitting out to dry. I really enjoyed this car but there are just too many pot holes out here, to enjoy it. Weekends in the mountains of Northern PA is a different story though! The ride on the 19' wheels was smooth but harsh over bumps. I remember pulling over a few times, just certain something was broken. Never was, but I couldn't take the stress, especially with no warranty left. I have a 2021 Stinger gt1 now and even with a 10 year warranty, I'm not worried about breaking it. The Stinger is more comfortable to drive and feels roomier, at least in width. And while I will admit that I miss the BMW prestigious feeling, I get asked about the Stinger a lot more. Funny thing is, the first night I was heading home from the BMW dealer, a Stinger pulled up on me and wanted to race. I had no idea what it even was... but I liked it. Ironic, that I would still the 440i and end up with a Stinger. Good review here. I've seen a few from this channel and I'm subscribing now.
I love the fact when i get this car I’ll have a rare gran coupe and not just a regular 4 series. This vehicle is amazing based off this review
I never would have guessed it was a hatchback based on the sedan like design. Looks like a pretty solid vehicle. Also wanted to say good job on the editing of the videos. I like those special effects on the intro!

Even the lower model 428i Gran Coupe feels super fast, agile and sure-footed with excellent braking. I have test-driven the 428i, (not the newer 430i) of my co-worker. I have also test-driven a M-Sport 440i. Boy, that rush to 3 figure speed still stays in my mind. I think I may head to my local BMW to get one soon.
Correction: the side mirrors will close if you press the lock button on the key twice.

WOW what a bad ass review this is- I just bought a 2019 430 GC and I do love it- almost like a "cult" car- those who have them love them. I had a 435 GC and sold it for a Coupe (Mercedes SL) and I wanted a 4 door- what better than a 2019 GC?! The new ones and the buck teeth just dont do it for me. This is the proper kidney grill on a Proper Bimmer. Thanks again- love your red interior- looks amazing.

Only BMW I'd realistically buy. I'm just not about to spec one out at 70k just to get it the way it needs to be. You basically need an M sport package and performance exhaust to make this thing purr. This variant needs an interior update. Aside from that, I probably would consider spec'ing one out new.
Consider the F30 3 series as well it does actually sit up a bit higher so it’s easier to get in and out of and seems to be slightly more comfortable. But I understand if you prefer the looks of the 4 series and would like the hatch
My mom has one of these and between you and me most fun youll have at night rippin thru the streets while laid back in luxury ,, so smooth so light its like driving a cloud

This is probably the most bang for buck in terms of practicality, power. That b58 engine have great tuning potential for easy 450-500hp.

I just bought a 2019 430i gran coupe xdrive the exact same color exterior and interior red with same wheels!! I just put black kidney grilles on it and I want to make it a little faster and louder!!
I'm digging all the new BMW's except the new 7 series... IDK... I just think the designers went in a little over their heads with the kidney grille. But this cars porpotions are just right!!! Loved the review😎

But idk I just don’t like how digitized they are becoming. Like the new 3 series has a camera looking at you 24 hours I detest that. This is definitely more old school BMW and I respect that. The reason for the BIG GRILLS on cars is due to the Chinese buying a lot of luxury cars and they love BIG GRILLS! So expect more of them.

Thank you for the info this a great option for a wheelchair user with a family. Weird I know lol the hatch is great for dunking the wheelchair with wife and children.
FYI, the motion to open the trunk with your foot is described in the manual. It's not a side to side motion, it's a forward and backward motion.
"Performing the foot movement
1. Stand in the middle behind the vehicle at ap‐ prox. one arm's length away from the rear of the vehicle.
2. Wave a foot under the vehicle in the direction of travel and immediately pull it back. With this movement, the leg must pass through the ranges of both sensors."
There's a picture in the manual to illustrate. I think if you perform the proper motion you're much more likely to get it to trigger correctly on the first try.

The liftback sedan category is very underrated as a whole. It's a shame that BMW discontinued the 6 series GT and I hope that the next gen 4 series gran coupe remains a liftback.

That's a beautiful car but The stinger's interior is nicer in my opinion
I did really like the Stinger interior and the layout/ergonomics were perfect. But I have to say to drive, the Germans do blow it out the water but for the price that Stingers are being sold now, I still recommend it plus it’s every bit as fast if not a tad faster then the Germans

Has anybody put a Thule on the gran coupe? I’m between this and a g30 540 but I would prefer the grand coupe because of weight. My main concern is not being able to put a Thule on because of the trunk opening and hitting the glass
I currently own a 17' 320i xdrive, thinking about upgrading to a 20' Gran Coupe 440i xdrive, I think that it might be a car I'd be able to daily for many years and better for road trips than my current bimmer
Great review Kevin! Your videos keep getting better and better! I don’t mind that car, but I find the corners of the hood where they meet the headlights look really unfinished, they should’ve done something different there, it ruins the look of the car for me.

The b58 engine they started using in 2018 (Codeveloped with Toyota) is amazingly reliable. Plenty people with 200k and no major issues. And the new s58 engine is even better. Reliability issues are a thing of the past

Yea they made great strides to be reliable in the last few years. Which is why they use this motor in the supra but def still some stupidity of course like not offering a dip stick for checking oil but for the most part yea this isn't bad
Looking at buying one of these..but those Run Flat tires killed my joy!! Both of my previous BMW's had those annoying Run Flats, and they both had to be replaced. All four tires eventually developed those those growths as I call them. I live in the NE part of the states, and I don't believe those tires are made for the roads/streets here in NYC.
