This video went a long way on convincing me to trade in my '14 328xi for a 440i GC, and after over a year of ownership, I can say... these dudes reactions still perfectly sums up how I feel about the car every single day. Ripping it through tunnels never gets old, downshifting is always a free smile, and I just... WANT to drive, anywhere, any time, any excuse I can come up with to be in the car I'm doing it.

I was driving an e46 325i M-Sport for a decade and decided to finally get a new car. I got the 440i GC with a healthy amount of upgrades and couldn't be happier. As much as I love the 3-series in general, the only thing I would say I prefer is visibility but I wouldn't trade my 440i GC for the 340i. Furthermore the 3 series just looks like every other saloon on the road these days. Great cars but 440i looks and feels more exciting.

@@collinlong978 good question I've been trying to find the answer but at this point I honestly don't know. BMW state 326bhp so that's what I'm telling people but after extensive research and listening to other car fans it's apparent BMW understate their specs, which is wild but it means for me the insurance is much more manageable vs the equivalent Audi or Merc so that's a win. I surprised a friend of mine who loves cars more than me the other day just to see his face, after a brief inspection he said to me, 'this is like 350 right', I said no but that's when he went into one about the understated specifications and so on. So formally the answer is no, but it seems to be a very well known secret in the business. I'm contemplating getting it remapped to 450 and maybe I'll find out for sure at that point. But yeah, still happy and I'm hitting 0-60 sub 5 seconds though it can only do 5.10 according to the literature 👀

I woud not buy the manual. The 8 speed ZF on modern BMWs is terrific and the manual 6 is a little notchy. So I'd have it auto, sort of a GT. But RWD all the way.
You actually can rewind satellite radio!! iDrive 6.0! Up to one hour - its called "time shift".
I am currently contemplating a 2018 Lexus RC 300 F Sport, A Mercedes C300 Coupe, and a BMW 440i. I test drove all 3 and the BMW was the by far winner.
Jess H, I was all about the RC350 F Sport but this 440i blew me away, found and bought a low mile 2018 last month and will never look back. The tech is better, the performance is better and it is out of this world to drive.

Even today I still think I would save and buy this 440i but in gran coupe. It just feels like the sweet spot even among the new 2022/23 models 😌.

I ordered a 2020 440i before production shuts down in June. I checked most of the boxes. I just wanted to say this video made me decide to buy this car. Thanks Yuri and Jacob.
sinjin K not sure if they redesigned the 4 series for 2020. The 2020 M340i would be better. Similar price, redesigned interior, new exterior, and 380+ whp. They will probably redesign the 4 series by next year.
The new redesign was supposed to be mid to late this year. I didn't want a 4 door. The interior and tech on the M340 is nice though. I just preferred the lines on the 440i instead. As far as the horsepower, the 440i has enough power for a daily.
You don't get MPPSK in models after June 2018
I am an owner of a 2017 BMW 340i with M Performance Packages I & II (which includes the MPPSK and exhaust kit) I can confirm everything Yuri and Jakub say about this car is true. This car is amazing and I just love the factory sound!

I have the Gran Coupe version of this car, with the addition of the MPerformance brakes, Enhanced Premium Package, Adaptive LED's and the MPPSK and its everything these guys say it is and more. And on top of all that...the rear hatch area offers exceptional room and the car gets fantastic fuel mileage to boot. Best drivers car I've ever owned....hands down.
Late to the party but I've got a new M340i ordered with the M-performance exhaust. HYPE! I drove one with this exhaust and it sounds SO good.
I have this car, with the MPPSK (m performance power and sound kit), BMW state that it takes the BHP from 326 to 355, however a large group of us 440i owners went and got our cars dynoed and they all came out at 380hp - 390hp. BMW seriously understated the performance gains!
It's basically an AWD, 6MT-capable M4, which makes it infinitely cooler than an M4 to me.

I bought this car 2 months ago and I don’t regret it. By far the best purchase I’ve made. I found on used from a lease driven by an old dude. Only driven 7k miles a year. Could pass it up. I know the history because I was working at the dealership when it arrived.

I ended up buying one of these in March 2020 m440i with stick. Probably one of the last stick 4 series ever. Super happy with it and this video helped me male my decision.

Pro - Good mpg, very good handling and steering feel, very quick if you have xdrive, seats hug you very well making longer drives comfortable, infotainment system and other tech options are all easy to use very helpful. Also has great trunk space since it is technically a hatch back.
Cons - backseat head room and sometimes leg room. Had the infotainment system reset on me mid drive, twice now. Not sure why but was really weird. Also, had loss of engine coolant randomly once. But after I refilled it, it hasn’t happened again

As a 440i owner with the MPPSK (exhaust kit) I honestly think you hit it out the park with this review.
So I'm looking at purchasing a used one....4 years later. How is/was your ownership experience. I'm coming from a 2015 vw GTI performance
I wasn't amazed at the top-end performance but the acceleration was amazing.
@@MrMduchesne23I had a 2016 GTi PP tuned for 93. I went from that to 2013 S4 (Tuned 93, 440 HP). I traded that for a 2018 340i MPPSK. So I think I might be in a unique position to answer this. You might believe the top end wasn’t good but I can say that it is very fast top end stock, if you didn’t feel it so much that’s likely due to how SMOOTH the b58/ZF8 combo is. Smooth cars don’t feel as fast usually, and this car’s power train is butter. I can say I have the numbers to back it up. I didn’t have my Dragy when I had the GTi, but I know roughly were that car slotted based on who I raced and how it stacked up. The S4 was a large step up from the GTi in terms of top end. Stock they were about the same, once I tuned the S4, the GTi wasn’t even same ballpark. I trapped 113.5 @ 12.06 in the S4 ecu/tcu on 93 and intake only for reference. I haven’t collected a standing quarter yet with the 340i, but they seem to be about mid 12 with 109/110 with the MPPSK. So the s4 is faster but feeling wise they feel CLOSE to equal. That’s because I was able to grab a 60-130. S4 BEST case was 12.1 (I averaged 12.4, for reference in my average DA a 392 Scat is identical 60-130, I raced a C6 Vette the last week I had the s4 and got exactly one car length put on me through 140). So 12.4 average. The first and only try with the 340i was 13.2 for the 60-130. That’s about a difference of 3 cars. In a hypothetical the S4 would gap the 340i by about 3 cars. I think the GTi would’ve slotted in about a car or two behind the 340i. However that’s a s4 with ECU/TCU and lightweight wheels and KW suspension. And a GTi with intake/tune. The 340i is just stock/stock/stock. From what I can see a downpipe and a tune later the 340i will be placing high 9 in the 60-130 on 93. With a TU hpfp, into the 8s on pump. 7s if you mix ethanol. In other words, the top end on a e50 Stage 2+ (two mods and gas!!!) runs in the ballpark of a stock Hellcat. So all this to say the data shows there isn’t a lack of top end on the 340i, and if you watch enough Supra/340/440 videos you’ll begin to see that actually the b58 has more top end stock turbo when tuned properly than most GT/SS/392 v8s. Which is nutty to think about. For it to only be mildly behind my S4 (which was faster than C5 Vettes, just behind C6/C7, could pull on manual 5.0, 10A Stangs were too fast though, hang with Camaro SS in manual or 10A form, and would creep on or match 392 Scats) means that it’s just behind that benchmark. STOCK. If you are open to tuning well then the B58 is your oyster… the data is pretty convincing. It’s not the fastest car but at the price point, it’s hard to beat the value package and few if any motors offer quite the value of the B58. For 60-130 to get from the stock 11s down to 9s in a SS or 5.0 takes thousands and full e85 constantly. The 392 can’t even break 9s without try hard investments. They’re heavy af and pretty maxed from the factory meanwhile $500 Supra HPFP and $300 DP with a $600 tune on the 340i and you’re rocking that all day on 93 pump. That’s why I stepped from the GTi to the S4 and the S4 to the 340i. The S4 can get those numbers too, but you’re talking pulleys, de-cat, ethanol mixing. Then the DSG has to hold up. The GTi could also do that, but would’ve needed at minimum an IS38 and supporting bolt ons AND fueling upgrades. Probably a Litco is38 hybrid or similar to regularly hit that on pump. Meanwhile the 340i can do all that and run like stock in Normal mode because guess what, it’s the factory turbo still. Brilliant engine. Spend some time watching race footage and you’ll see that B58 aren’t THE fastest thing out there but they’re ridiculous hard to beat especially for the value. Watch enough races and you’ll see once tuned they have crazy top end also. Not sure what the voodoo there is because top end is usually when v8s play. I suspect it has to do with the air to water IC in the intake manifold which cools more at those crazy speeds since it passes more air over the heat exchanger. Plenty of content to digest here on RUclips. Check Autoglory and a few others to see the gamut of possibilities with minor investment.

I like how you keep talking while showing the car and the cut back to you talking about the car. Nice touch. I love this car as well. It’s my favorite along with Audi S5 coupe. The subtle changes BMW made to exterior is really nice. Exhaust is well worth it.

So I went with the 2018 BMW 340i Msport and having the car for 2 months upgraded the Wheels went with Agency power SRI and AFE Power Valve Cat back Exhaust along with the AFE power scorcher module.. The sound and performance is night and day from stock ! The exhaust alone in Sport + gurgles and pops just like this 440i X drive in the review.. It also have me 13hp and 16 tque the mutual Schorcher kit gave me 52hp and 79 tque due to supporting AFE power mods so all in all yes my beemer is super quick and I can never look at another brand BMW is it for me the engineering they put into this B58 engine is astonishing to say the least again excellent review y'all keep up the Great work

Guys, you finally reviewed my car!!! (Sort of ... 340i manual). Just one thing, you can rewind Satellite radio (it’s not intuitive, but it’s in there somewhere). Awesome job as always!

Believe you can rewind up to 30 min, but you have to stay on the same radio station to rewind. If you keep cycling between stations then the rewind function doesn’t really work.

I checked this morning and it did have rewind capabilities for the one station it was tuned to, but changing stations resets it. +Yuri Tereshyn, I couldn't remember the name, but it's called "Time Shift"; I tried to make a video but starting the video kept switching the car display to CarPlay (so frustrating!!)
They're currently leasing from 489. Honestly a total steal. The hatch gives it more practicality than traditional sedans

Yup my dad's got a 2017 340i xDrive with the M Performance Pack 1 and 2. It's a great replacement for his 2007 Mustang GT that didn't feel any faster (even with 438rwhp). Nice not having to worry about tickets for modifications and he drives it all year instead of May to October.

I own this car in snapper rocks blue with the only difference being that I have the m brakes. I have driven many cars in my life and this car is easily the best one I have ever driven. I drive a F30 328 with the 4banger turbo and it pops pretty damn good too with an aftermarket axle-back like I have. It’s so much fun. BMW just makes good sounding cars (with the right exhausts anyway)

Awesome video guys! You hit every aspect on the nose in my opinion. My wife drives our 2017, 440xi Grande Coupe to work each day and gets no respect except from other BMW owners....it's hilarious. And we fight over who's driving when we both go out in it. Hands down, amazing car! Getting the factory exhaust kit soon!

This isn’t the M performance exhaust, it’s the MPPSK exhaust. The M performance exhaust is just a slightly louder stock muffler. The MPPSK is a full catback exhaust that deletes both resonators and the muffler is dual valved which results in a full muffler bypass. The MPPSK exhaust is a straight pipe from the cat back when in sport mode and goes through the muffler in comfort. This is WAYYYYY better than the M performance exhaust.
@@lamakicker69 yeah to bad BMW did not make a full catback for the m135i/m235i. I also put a sportcat and deleted all resonators, sounds mint imo. And still legal xD

You guys are like Brothers from another mother, always so entertainingly funny - my first 'fast, sporty car' 20 years ago was, and still is, a manual BMW with a straight six engine (pretty easy to guess the model) - yep, I'd look at it in my garage at 11pm on a Tuesday night before I thought I was going to bed - it would beckon to me despite my having to get up at o dark 30 in the morning for work - no doubt, we went for an hour drive..........BMW has induction noise perfected - best brand out there for it .

That's a design flaw for BMW. You have to signal for the blind spot monitoring to work lol
Muffin Racing the light will be on without signaling. But if you signal anyway it adds an extra level of safety.

It will also vibrate if you try to merge without using signals (and a car is in the blind Spot)

I got my 2018 fully loaded with Msport, Track and Power / Sound package ....... in Xdrive and a 6 speed manual. I absolutely adore my car. Its super fast and sounds amazing. I have to say that the best part is the handling. You guys forgot to mention the 49.9 to 50.1 weight balance ration that makes this car turn like an rx7. Pair some good rubber and honestly im not sure you can get better for regular roads. Its perfection!

Srsly tho. Thank God someone still makes cars with manuals. I live under the mountains with twisty roads and hairpins, rarely go into a big city or encounter busy traffic. Automatic is too boring for me.
Not having Manual in traffic is overrated. I’ll take manual everyday of the week.

RWD, manual, M performance package, with adaptive dampers. Full disclosure - I have one! Only thing I recommend is to lose the run-flats and fit proper performance tyres, the comfort and grip are so much better! Oh and remember to leave the suspension in comfort so it doesn't feel like you're driving over rocks.

The steering wheel is so retro it reminds me of the 80s BMWs. With all this tech, reliability is a concern especially that reliability reports are not encouraging.

Currently renting one of these for a quick blast from Stuttgart to Berlin. I did have an issue finding the rear defrost. The base one has cheap paint and doesn’t have a sport exhaust, but it’s still the most fun I’ve had in a car in quite a while.

TheStraightPipes I seen the dyno numbers for this car and results show it makes about 370 HP and 375 Ft lb of torque at the wheels. So it's easily putting 400 HP at the crank.

What made me sub, was that talk about the defroster button, shows how deep these guys go into each car. As a M4 owner, that button issue is the only complaint that I’ve got with the interior 😂😂
