  • What kind of questions are on the general construction trade exam? In this video, we cover the 5 major segments of the General contractor state exam for California, we also give you the secret strategy for passing your exam, and finally, this General B examination guide tutorial will give you a sample of actual questions found on the CSLB exam. In this video, we go over the five major segments that make up the exam as seen below:
Segment one deals with Planning and estimating in which talks about the Scope of work and code compliance, design and construction error identification, shop drawings, plans, and specification, field inspection performance, the coordination of the project, and cost estimation for materials, equipment, and labor.
Segment two goes into Framing and Structural Components. Things like subfloor and wall framing, roof framing, seismic and load requirements, siding, and stucco, and last but not least, decks.
The Third Segment is about knowing your core trades. These trades consist of Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Concrete, Earthwork and surveying, Insulation, acoustical, weatherproofing, and again, roofing.
In the fourth segment, we talk about the finish trades. These are the things that clients see like painting, staining, coating, and interior wall coverings, tile and stone, floor covering, cabinetry and millwork - my favorite, plaster, drywall and ceilings, windows skylights, doors, and yep, you see it. Landscaping.
Finally, the last Segment deals with safety and health. There are over 160,000 preventable accidents every year in America. That's a lot! And, because the construction industry has one of the highest injury rates among all industries 12% of the state exam will be on this topic covering things suck as personal safety, transportation and traffic control, environmental safety, the companies responsibilities towards job site safety, and a variety of more topic on this matter.
Not to fear, the Contractor License School is here. We make the process simple. We do the heavy lifting of handling all the paperwork, the filings, and all that stuff that you would probably rather skip so that you can focus your attention on two things. 1.
