- A side-by-side comparison of the gameSan Francisco Rush 2049 between Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo GameCube (Official version included in the Midway Arcade Treasures 3 compilation).
Very close, but I'm going to give the slight edge, and I mean sight to the Dreamcast. The Sound is better on the DC, the GC has some artifacting issues with the head light, looks like lower color depth. The DC version green lamps at @2:22 also looks better. Some areas the DC has better textures, other area the GC has better textures. The features better filtering if you look at the wood look texture @3:08. It's blurry on the DC, and recently shaper on the GC. The DC also appears to load faster. So better filtering, possible better overall performance on the GC, additional effect, high color depth, shaper closer textures, and better sound on the DC. If I were to assign a number value in terms of arcade perfect, the DC would be 8.4, GC 8.1.
GameCube ver lacks lighting on the car and has buggy headlights.
Also lacks the tracks for the train and the street car.
Both seem to run at 60 FPS but Dreamcast has some drops, it's quite noticeable
@deltakid0 That's probably why the Dreamcast's fps keeps dropping. Is because of due to the stabled lighting affects.
Looks nearly identical but the Dreamcast version looks ever so slightly sharper. You can tell when looking at the buildings in the background. I'd be happy playing either version though
the Midway Arcade treasures re-release uses the dreamcast code. but i'm going to say some of the small visual differences might be down to time constraints (and a few other factors)- there's no way the gamecube shouldn't be able to reproduce the game easily.
Classic game, thanks for showing the comparisons.
1. With the controller visualizations I appreciate that the triggers are the gas and brakes.
2. The race looked more competitive on the Gamecube port. There were moments of the 2nd place racer catching up and overtaking. Until they gave up at the finish line. So the AI isn't the best.
3. Does hitting the A button help with drifts? I noticed especially on the Gamecube controller.
Wow you're playing the racing part. I must have put in 50+ hours into the Dreamcast version and entirely in the stunt multiplayer mode. Couldn't tell you want the racing part is about. It actually looks pretty fun. Going to go with the DC for this one because i'm bias.
Looks like the gamecube got a bit of a rushed port. But, it is part of a compilation disc meaning the devs would have had a lot less time to work on it.
2049 was supposed to get a proper port to the PS2 with Hydro thunder. I think the pack was supposed to be called Hydro Rush. Not sure if it was also coming to Xbox or Gamecube. Don't see why not. But wow what could have been if 2049 got an official port instead of a emulated one. I had all 4 version and the gamecube version was the best of the 4 version of Midway arcade treasures.
@1:20 The sound comparison was EPIC. You know the Gamecube & Dreamcast is telling us that is about to get real 🔥🔥🔥😍😍
Dreamcast o último grande console arcade, sem dúvida a melhor versão
Dreamcast has the Slim Jim ad :)
The fact this game is also on n64 is most impressive
Haha, did you ever play "Re-Volt" or "Mortal Kombat 4" on Dreamcast and N64? It's a difference like night and day. It's just the same title.
I’m surprised it’s not on the PS1.
@@shaggymcdaniel3216The PS1 couldn't even manage a decent port of the original San Francisco Rush. Rush 2049 would have ended up even more butchered. I seriously doubt they could have fit some of the larger tracks in this game into RAM.
@@shaggymcdaniel3216 PS1 could not handle this
Great comparison, if there was some way to show the framerate that would be cool.
The Dreamcast port has two things in it's favor here:
1.) It was the lead platform for this port.
2.) The Midway Arcade Treasures Collections were low-effort cash grab compilations. There was no incentive to pretty the game up for the Gamecube.
Identical, but the frame rate seems to be higher on the Game Cube.
Something fishy going on with the headlight on the GC version.
Dreamcast version has better constrast but the GameCube version is no sloch either and still a enjoyable version to play regardless.
Show! Grande jogo, marcou época no meu N64.
The graphics look nearly identical, but the camera moves slightly differently, and I prefer the dc for that part.
even trying to find something, they both pretty much look the same.
Very similar 👍🏼
Years ago the reviews of the GameCube Port of this collection had lower scores in the PS2 or Xbox, that says it all.
Dreamcast Power 💪🔥😎
Look 100% identical
Not quite, the Gamecube version is missing lighting on the player car. I've honestly never noticed that before now.
It is also missing the train and street car tracks ans some other textures.
Nice spotting there! I'll have to go through it again to check it out.@@Marchand12
Framerate is better on the cube, more stable
@@Marchand12 Yeah, those missing tracks are odd. The street cars just float on the road, haha! I noticed that the tracks are on a few of the roads, but they're misaligned and are on the very side of the roads.
O multiplayer estilo Twister metal desse jogo e muito bom❤
GameCube has better framerate
Common Dreamcast W
Dreamcast 💯🔥
The map is different. DC dropped a couple more frames. Basically no difference at all!
Why you are not commenting anymore. However..... I like the small facts that you let us know....
DC version looks less darker
dreamcast is better even being much older
Dreamcast finished first, so dreamcast wins this one 🤣.
Gamecube audio sounds terrible
GameCube Wins!
So sad the dreamcast version was ported to gamecube and not the arcade....
The Cheats for this game never worked
Dreamcast has better textures than ps2 and gamecube thats one of dreamcast strenghts
DC version doesn't get solid 60fps, gamecube version is better just for that
DC version is more sharp and crisp
Probably due to the Game Cube version enforcing some kind of full screen blur filter. Those guys at Digital Eclipse really loved to blur their game complitations back in the days.

Dreamcast better gpu than gamecube
Yeah nah. DC ain't running something like Resident Evil 4 or F Zero GX. Heaps of DC titles got quick, sloppy ports to GC and they almost always ran identically or slightly better. GameCube was a beast (not that DC wasn't but 1998 tech was never going to be comparable to 2001 hardware)
Show me the Dreamcast running Rogue Squadron 2 or RE4.

I would say dreamcast usually but gamecube is far more powerful specs. both look about the same. same size discs too.
GC discs 50% larger storage capacity
Can you do SNES Riddick Bowe Boxing vs Mega Drive Greatest Heavyweights? They are basically the same game engine and came out within months of each other. Thanks
