Benson pedals just sound really good. They are signal improvers. It sounds illogical or impossible, but run your instrument through that preamp or boost and you'll hear it. Meticulous design, the best quality parts, attention to quality manufacture... It really works.
Everything he makes is so primitive, it's almost laughable that he charges Chase Bliss prices for these things. Sounds great if you've got the dough, though.
