I have a carbon copy delay that does everything I need a delay to do but this pedal just seems SO fun to experiment with and get lost in. I love that it can do all the “traditional” delays sounds but can also do any type of complex ambient sounds I’d ever want, without having complicated secondary functions. This in stereo would be killer
First jam could be a built to spill song, like Perfect From Now On meets You in Reverse. Andy you’re such a great player, and you do probably the most underrated thing in playing music - inspire. Really gotta get a new delay now 🥵
This is the first time in a long time I've been tempted by a new delay pedal. A few good tricks and extra controls beyond the basics, but not so much to get bogged down and it sounds really nice (doesn't hurt that Andy is such a pro ;-)).
@@AndyDemos you are a great guitarist and fantastic at doing these reviews. Can’t lie I am now tempted to buy another delay! Thanks for all you do for the guitar community oh and nice to be a namesake too - Andy Martin 👍😎
I’ve got the Asheville adg-1, boss dm-101, Strymon Volante, Boss RE-202, UA Starlight, and Chase Bliss Mood Mk II. I don’t need this thing, but I love the concept of something that sits between analog and digital that isn’t a tape echo.
Sounds great, but for what I use a delay for I can just stick with my Greer Black Tiger Delay, which is also PT2399-based. The degradation of the repeats is very, very similar, and I don’t really need modulation or vibrato. The Benson is a really nice pedal, though.
Thanks for the comment! The drums came from my buddy George Fludas (Bonhamology) and it's sort of a twisted take on Fool in the Rain. I'm calling it Dummy in the Snow :)
As ever, you make every toy necessary for my arsenal. But I thought my delay game was pretty set. You’ve opened up a new yen for me. Wonderful. Benson rocks.
Very cool! I'd always associated PT2399 delays with being very lofi, like the Death By Audio Echo Dream, but the Benson Delay is a whole other thing. I like it!
Caroline Kilobyte is what I’ve used since about six months after it was released. It’s a PT2399 chip, and it can get lofi sounding, but it also gets some great tape delay effects and tones I love.
@@AndyDemos Yeah, I actually love the 2399 delays. This one is very versatile, and has a very bucket brigade like sound, as well as the lofi and tape warbles of other units.
Beson delay vs rubberneck? They seem very similar. Would you say the benson is higher quality component wise? Im juuust a jeepster for your looo ooove.
I am hearing the same input clipping as I heard on Mark Johnston's video. Is the lack of headroom on this causing that buzzy clipping sound? Nice sounds and playing as always and I love the design- shoutout to the jack deville ACV deluxe layout.
The clipping sounds like it's there but it sounds pretty natural? Like you'd get with many analog delays I'd say. The EQD Space Spiral clipped hoooorribly if boosted or with hotter humbuckers. I'm really keen to try the Benson as I love PT2399 based delays (other than the potential for nasty clipping...)
Not necessarily exciting in and of themselves but they give that not-quite-digital-perfectly-crisp sound but aren’t as muddy as an analog. I like it bc I’m an analog guy but it gets lost in a band setting so PT2399s work great to be heard while still having some character/a little high end roll off.
Another PT2399 delay that is also great is the Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay. When not modulated, the Benson Delay shares some similarities with it, to my ear.
Yea, Deep Blue was probably the first 2399 I heard years ago and it left an impression! Benson certainly takes it to another level with the compander/filtering and nearly triple the delay range👍🏻
here we go again . grow up. there i s nothing bad or wrong with digital . just because you bought a digitech and its amp models sucked doesnt mean its 1990 for the rest of us .
Wow to turn and old Zeppelin grove and flip it on it head write and create an entire new song that has the style of Zep but so original and dark your creativity is off the charts Andy!😊

Best band.
Always have to watch these videos twice: once for the review and again for the playing and cool tricks you use.
Thank you!!!
Nice one Andy!!! Benson builds good stuff!
Thanks for stopping by Shawn!!!

Wow, awesome to hear from you Andy ;) Glad you found the demo helpful too. Cheers! @@andymartin8620
Tasteful Mr Andy, very tasteful playing, great tune at the beginning!
BARBARIC! Dude, that’s become my favorite Blur song. So happy to hear it 🧡🤘

Best jams from this guy.

That new blue LP is one of my favorite Andy guitars now. The others are the Red Tail goldtop and the Ibanez Destroyer!
Thanks so much! I'm borrowing this new Blue 50s Standard from Reverb. Really like it!
Love that Barbaric from blur. Enjoying that with the Rubberneck delay after watching also your previous demo Andy. I bet they’re identical 😬
Thanks Andy. Your still the Review Ninja!
100%!!
The intro jam was killer. It has a Glass Beams air to it. 🤘🤙
Thanks for the comment! The drums came from my buddy George Fludas (Bonhamology) and it's sort of a twisted take on Fool in the Rain. I'm calling it Dummy in the Snow :)
Great tune Andy its a keeper
@@AndyDemos goober in the hail

I really liked the into-track, Andy. 🤘🏻
You fixed the level balance! Nice work, Andy!
Appreciate the flag! Mix automation wasn't doing its job! :)
Very cool! I'd always associated PT2399 delays with being very lofi, like the Death By Audio Echo Dream, but the Benson Delay is a whole other thing. I like it!
Yes, they do have that Lofi thing built in but I've never seen one with this kind of delay range! Thanks for watching!

New Blur riff at about 3:50 - nice!
So i know this uses a PT2399 which is a digital delay line. In terms of theory whats the difference between that and a DSP chip?
Beson delay vs rubberneck?

There are a lot of delays out there, yet it seems an instant classic! Benson stuff are always impressive.
If this thing were stereo with a ping-pong switch it would be the absolute do-all perfect delay pedal for me.
When Tone is your number one priority is this the Delay to get?
I’ve bought and sold a Strymon Volante twice. Have been considering getting one again, but damn does this Benson sound good…
So so good, man!
That intro was sick!!!
Thank you, had a lot of fun with that one!

PT2399 are dirty like BBD. That’s just an inherent quality, especially when dialing in delay slower than 500ms.

The guitar player from Rival Sons needs one of these.
Sounds outstanding. With all the options, they omitted stereo? I'd pay double for a stereo with midi preset option
3:53 kinda reminds me of something Built to Spill would play live. A jam with you and Doug would be really cool.
It’s the new Blur - Barbaric 👍🏻
@@AndyDemosa jam with you and Graham Coxon also 😉
Ordered one today and a Monarch +, still won't sound anywhere as good you do though
Gotta get some Blur in there!
0:00 let’s go!!!
Does this magical thing do trails?
It's true bypass only
the delay sounds itself aren’t that exciting or unique but I really like the weird modulated tones you can get with it.

and it is barbaric 👌👌

Haha, follow my journey!
With skills and grace.
Remember, always play the clean tone, and dont use a pick. Those are key to being a successful demo channel. 😂 loved your appearance on JHS. Lol
Haha thanks so much 🤘
And i sold the benson fuzz. It keeps changing it tone. Very often. I hate it. I sold it.
That's strange because the Fuzz is designed to NOT be changing due to the automatic bias.
All new delays demos sound the same, how can we compare them? It's like hearing 100 tubescreamer demos, all will sound the same.
I assume Andy listens to the Mermen. 🔥
Haha, I never have actually but I'd assume there are shared influences happening. Got a Mermen playlist open now, thanks!
@AndyDemos you are in for a treat.
It's a delay
It’s also “a jerky modulation device”
I just scored a MN-3005 AD-900 for $120. I am gonna have to pass on this one.

I really appreciate it! I just wanted it to sound a bit more sinister haha!
