First ribbon is the American Campaign Ribbon authorized for issue on November 6, 1942 by Executive Order. Second ribbon is the National Defense Ribbon issued on April 22, 1953 and is still issued today.

This is really great, another historic steam locomotive from years past fully restored to running condition. One person told me that nothing puts on a show like a steam locomotive. People consider steam locomotives to be living breathing machines.
It is a trip !! I have gotten up close to 1225 a few times now. It's like getting up next to a sequoia tree, you can feel it ! and then - WITHOUT so much as squeak, it MOVES !! Sure, most video you see shows steam venting , but it doesn't need too ! My eyes popped right out of my head the first time I saw 1225 do that ! There are quite a few large steam units out there now . Now we need to find a Class D Shay !!
That’s true. Just look at the crowds that UP4014 draws (then again, it’s is the Big Boy). I remember back in 1999 when Ross Rowland ran the C&O 614 on its excursion tours, people lined up all over the route to get to see her run.

Another big steam locomotive brought back to life. It would be really awesome to do a run Albuquerque to Denver, & back. Have the 3751 come from San Bernardino meet with the 2926, double head to Pueblo to meet with the 2912 for 3 way ATSF photo opt.
ATSF #2926 was the mightiest of the mighty, a true behemoth! I have an S-gauge (1:64) scale model of this locomotive, my pride and joy. It's a real thrill to see the 1:1 prototype under steam, in operation, especially without a diesel on standby.
Wow! I didn't expect this. Congratulations and THANK YOU for bringing her back to life. In my humble opinion the AT & SF was the greatest railway in this country. And I am willing to argue that point over scrambled eggs and coffee in any trackside diner you choose.
That whistle sounds angry. Excited that 2 atsf locomotives were resurrected. When her boiler inspection is done, would to see 2926 with it's legendary cousin the 3751 on some special excursion tours in the future.

One question though, not that she'll necessarily need it, but I seem to have noticed that there isn't a steam heat connector / pipe to the rest of the Train, (which as we both know), heated passenger cars behind it. NO big deal what-so-ever. God Bless Ya'll. She's absolutely beautiful

That is the largest tender I have seen 4+4, how common is that? UP 4014 has 2+5 I think? I haven't seen a clear up close look. Has someone else?
The sight of a steam engine coming to life will never get old to me. So many exciting steam projects and restorations right now, it's hard to pick just one, but I think 2926 is probably the one I'm most excited to see running again.

To think, there were some talks of scrapping in the middle of the project because it was taking too long and funds were short. It does not look like there will be scrap in the future of 2926. I am thankful for that.
Well they got her up and running, now comes the hard part of finding a place to run it. The Class I's are pretty much off the table as a mainline steam excursion would just end up stalling the tonnage that keeps the Class I's in the black.
@@rayhankazianga6817 I don't know about BNSF but NS did for about a few years allow heritage steam on their mainline. That is until it started eating into their freight profits, and so canceled up it keep peak tonnage moving. As for CSX, I'll believe it when i see it.

It was actually Union Pacific 844 that held that title. 611 by itself weighs more than 844, but the total weight of 611 with the tender added is 872,600 pounds. The total weight of 844 is 907,890 pounds, 35 thousand pounds heavier than the 611. 611 only outweighs 844 in the locomotive weight category, which does not include the tender.
Looks like A.T.& S.F. will have a sister to perhaps tour with someday. It is almost beyond belief that it has been 20 years in the making. People power and dedication in action for something useful for a change. Ladies and gents please be upstanding and take a well deserved bow!

Now THAT is what a Northern should look like. I remember long ago seeing 2903 as an outdoor display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. (It is now stuffed and mounted at the Illinois Railway Museum.) It wasn't enough that the engine was so imposing, but these also had perhaps the most imposing tenders.

And some of those others are arguably "muscular" looking like the UP FEF series or CB&Q O-5 class. But they were weaker than the smooth and streamlined and sedate looking "J"'s. But the 2900 class here did have a little higher tractive effort than the "J". It might be the highest tractive effort of any Northern, but not positive.

It did sound pretty mean that day. I believe it was still out of tune and they fixed it up the day after.

I live about 15 miles from where their restoring this thing here in Albuquerque, and I heard the sound of that whistle all throughout the South Valley

That valve was removed and blanked. No certified passenger cars still use steam. HEP from a power car or diesel is all the rage today.

Her whistle's not too bad, the short blasts were raspy, but the long blasts sounded good
I think it'll sound better if given time. UP 4014's whistle was kinda the same way back when it was first steamed up.
