I think all of them could own a trashbag as an outfit. But they don't feel comfortable in these. The costumes don't fit, cheap material and even metal digging into your skin. Yeah you can look good but you should be comfortable too. (And yes the issue is similar to skinny girls, but they have more options, tbh.)

I mean...I didn't really get the point of this video. The costumes did fit them (ish). I feel like their issues were more with how their bodies looked in the costumes (eg "I don't feel sexy"). That's a totally different issue. If you're a plus size and you're not comfortable with how your body looks in skin tight clothes, I doubt you'd pick a latex catsuit. I don't see how that's the costume's fault though.

the SWAT costume really didn't fit her chest though, the cat woman one was far too short (look at how it fits at her legs and her shoulders), and the sailor one looked tighter than it should have and rather uncomfortable. the video was to show that's there's very few options for bigger women in costumes, and the "one plus size fits all" really doesn't work. they were saying how there should be more size options for them, just like there are for skinnier people.
It's not about feeling sexy, it's about people assuming everyone is around the same size. I'm 4'11" and have a 36 waist but a F cup bust. It is so hard to find things that fit in the right spots and don't drag the ground. Some of the girls were too tall for their costumes, one wouldn't zip. That's the issue, not feeling "sexy." One size fits all is not the truth.
+Hotaru the Neko As I stated in another comment thread, store-bought costumes are terrible, regardless of body size. If they can't remember that eye holes for masks don't go on the cheek, it's no surprise these costumes aren't actually "one-size-fits-all". My shop's not open yet, but I would say go to places like Etsy and support small business. Even if you can't find what you want, maybe find someone to commission. Some people are embarrassingly affordable.

It's true... I would love to see more videos on plus size dudes. As a big girl it is very apparent that we face marginalization and oppression for taking up more space, and society gives more leniency to big guys. But it doesn't mean men aren't insecure and excluded as well. Feminism includes that :) buzzfeed not always so much.

they have done a few videos about different male body types, but you never hear anything about male plus size models and that should really change
i totally agree like for example video games plenty of people complain about oversexualization and unrealistic body image of female characters but no-one says that about male characters they often look like they take steroids by the galon and have no neck, they all are fit muscular, have perfect hair and jawbone

2) the models are MODELS and have a whole team of people to help them look better

Also: it's beneficial to make costumes that fit many different sizes of people. Sure, if no size fits them then it doesn't fit, but that doesn't mean they can't complain. There is a problem there.

I work at a store that's sells costumes and I'm a size 18, trust me, very few "plus size" costumes go over size 12-14, and no costumes say "one size fits all" they usually say "one size fits most" probably because people complain, but even those usually have measurements on them which again is usually in the range of 12-14. You always want to try costumes on first especially since the fit tends to very with each costume. Most stores are going to sell costumes made by anagram, secret wishes, rubies, and forum who all tend to run pretty small in their plus size, leg Avenue is another one and they seem hit and miss although I did get a nice costume that fit me pretty well in their "plus size." Personally if you are like a size 16 and up I would look into a place that sells different brands than say Party City because they're mainly going to have anagram and they run small
Lemonade908 also, the costumes at a store like party city are cheaply made so they’re awful and uncomfortable no matter what size you are. I’m a size 4 and any costume that I’ve purchased last minute at a store like that has been terrible.

Telling someone who has a condition that causes them to gain weight and makes it extremely difficult for them to lose weight that they should just "stop being fat" is extremely insensitive. People with fast metabolism are obviously gonna be a size 00-2 so don't be saying all remotely thin people are "anorexic" just to take up for a few overweight women. Everyone slays, especially petite people so don't be putting people down to defend others
Nobody ever said losing weight was easy, and it doesn't take being anorexic to get down to a healthy weight for your height. Also nobody expects 'everyone to be a size 1'.
What is NOT okay is telling women they're "fine the way they are" when their obese body weight is not only killing them slowly and surely but also is a burden on the rest of the population because it increases hospital and medical insurance costs for the rest of us just because we have to share in the burden of taking care of an aging, overweight population. That is not fair.
People need to stop encouraging others to 'feel beautiful no matter what their body looks like' because fat is not beautiful. It is not healthy. It is not okay.
While it is not easy to diet and exercise and maintain a healthy body weight, a great portion of the population does it so no its not fun but yes it is the right thing to do.

Not just that they not skinny and therefore not anorexic. The comment was not shaming skinny people. It literally said, "I think everyone is beautiful XXS-XXL." It's not shaming skinny people for being skinny, but shaming people that are being so negative and saying they need to engage in dangerous habits to be skinny.

She acts like this is a problem for only "plus sized" girls, everyone is different, no clothing or costume store is going to cater to god knows how many body shapes, it's impractical and expensive. If you want your clothes to fit you perfectly then go to a tailor or buy hella expensive clothes
I think they're referring to the fact that smaller women get more sizes to choose from (eg small, medium, large) and plus sizes are just... plus size. There tends to be fewer options as well.

Why doesn't anyone seem to get that encouraging someone to have your exact body type and just loving your body are two very completely different things? Anyone who's insecure about themselves, whether they be fat or skinny, male or female, can agree that they need to be taught to accept their bodies and to love them. We are not encouraging people to take on an obese lifestyle or strive to be the skinniest person in the world. We are just trying to get people to understand that they are beautiful no matter what anybody else says. In no way are any of these body positivity videos (whatever form they may come in) trying to tramp on your beliefs or make people unhealthy. People need to know that they are beautiful. No matter what gender, age, color, or size they are. Everyone is beautiful.
If you really loved your body, with all that it's capable of and all that it allows you to do, wouldn't you take better care of it than this?

i don't think the manufacturers are thinking "oh I wanna discriminate against plus size people". At the end of the day they are thinking about the how many units of what sizes/size they will be able to sell during the very short halloween season. For them it is probably not cost effective to create all these different sizes for the same costume. Not saying it's right or wrong, just saying I do not think it is coming from a place of hate or discrimination.

They're complaining because a size that claims to be made for their body type doesn't fit any of them. Like they say at the end, you can't take 20 different sizes and stick the label "one size fits all plus size" and expect it to work. It's not that the costume is or isn't flattering, it's that it isn't comfortable because it wasn't made for these women's body types.
The costume fits and does not specifically claim to be made for their size. It just doesn't look good because it's made to wrap around the body so it accentuates "the curves" they all claim to be oh so prou of yet get repulsed by looking at the obvious fat rolls under skin tight onesies.
Also, you can't just expect to have all of the unhealthy body types fit the " all body types " standard, that is as absurd as a person without a leg complaining they dont fit the standard for shoe production (only sold in pairs, ya know).
Look everyone is allowed their views and opinions, but if you don't support what this video is showing you don't have to watch it nor spend the time commenting.

Okay, I feel like this video is trying to make a point.... I'm just not sure what it is. All the costumes look fine and they fit not too badly. I guess the women are uncomfortable? I don't know what they expected buying skin tight outfits. They're obviously going to form to your body.
Additionally, these are cheap halloween costumes, not high-end designed clothes or body shaping corsets.
They said as a plus size person that you just get a "One Size Fits All" size, Plus Size. Unlike for smaller women that have Small, Medium, Large, X-Large. It's just unrealistic to say that we're all the same size of Plus when clearly we're not as they showed in this video. While these costumes aren't hundreds of dollars they're still around $60 a pop. It's a lot of money to spend on a costume that won't fit.
