But Nicki added a certain flavor to hip hop that I like. Sorry but in my opinion Cardi will never have anything on Nicki. But what I do like about Cardi is that she has style. Later, like with all new female rappers, we pitted her against Nicki Minaj. The drama caused a Nicki vs Cardi which made Cardi even more popular. She was able to achieve a Grammy for her album at the height of her popularity. Now that the drama is dead, her popularity is slowly starting to fade. A real artist is constantly perfecting their craft and I don’t see her doing the same. Maybe music wasn’t her passion but being a funny personality is?

As someone who was born in the 80s and has watched the lives and careers of female rappers since before I was born, Nicki and Cardi are no different to me. Both benefitted from the exact same things and the only reason Nicki gets "queen" status is because most of her fans don't really have a good grasp of female rappers' history and since Nicki is all they know, she gets position one. These are the same people who keep acting like Beyonce basically saved music single handedly. That's my unpopular opinion of the day and I stick by it.

Anyone who listens to Cardi would most likely agree that Red Barz, Shake it and Tomorrow are some of her strongest work to date. All three of those were her more aggressive verses and where I truly believe she stood out as her energy gets people hyped. I know she’s mentioned Shake It bought out demons in her but if she wants to continue rap, I think working more on her skills, more consistency and doing another album/tour would help her at least stay afloat. As someone who was born in the 80s and has watched the lives and careers of female rappers since before I was born, Nicki and Cardi are no different to me. Both benefitted from the exact same things and the only reason Nicki gets "queen" status is because most of her fans don't really have a good grasp of female rappers' history and since Nicki is all they know, she gets position one. These are the same people who keep acting like Beyonce basically saved music single handedly.

I don’t feel bad for cardi that’s what happens when you rely on shock value to sell your music. You eventually run out of ideas and people come to expect that from you and when it doesn’t happen your stuff falls flat to them. I believe her team will come up with something instead of another single I think she just needs to drop a dope ass album. Make sure it’s conceptualized and cohesive and make sure the songs have dope lyrics and are catchy. Anyone who listens to Cardi would most likely agree that Red Barz, Shake it and Tomorrow are some of her strongest work to date. All three of those were her more aggressive verses and where I truly believe she stood out as her energy gets people hyped. I know she’s mentioned Shake It bought out demons in her but if she wants to continue rap, I think working more on her skills, more consistency and doing another album/tour would help her at least stay afloat. Otherwise, she would actually kill it as a comedic influencer etc.
