    For Here or to Go? Official Trailer 1 (2017) - Ali Fazal Movie
    Young Silicon Valley software engineer Vivek Pandit is poised to become a key hire at a promising healthcare startup, but when they realize his work visa has less than a year remaining, the offer disappears. Having learned the hard way about the flaws in his “it’s just paperwork” mentality, Vivek battles forces beyond his control to get his visa extended, whether at his existing company or a new job. Along the way, his eyes are opened to the similar struggles of his own roommates and those around him. American in mind and Indian at heart, this is a contemporary story of ambition and ambivalence fueled by one’s immigration status that characterizes the dilemma of modern cultural displacement.

      krunal soni slavery? They have not held your passport as in Dubai. You are always free to go my friend. Don't blame it to USA, blame it your home country politicians who couldn't make it better in so many years. Many H1b holders can bring social security tax back to their country when they leave US, but not Indians.

      I think we should show this movie, to young Indians still in India. So that they don't enter US without knowing what is happening here. If they know what to expect, then no sane individual would subject themselves to this abusive system.

      Nothing can stop Indians coming to USA. Indians will come to USA at any cost. Forget about 20 years wait for GC, as long as they can save quick 40-50 lacks in 5-10 H1b years, they are good.

    I am going through this. I know the struggle. I follow rules. I pay taxes for decades, still waiting in line to get the green card. But, some random truck driver from some random country may get a green card.
    I can't change jobs. I can't set up my business. I can't take any risk to achieve something in life in the USA. I got very much habituated to the US that I am not feeling like going back. I am staying with a lot of constraints.

    When I heard it is taking 10 years for green card 3 years back . I never asked anyone to file for me . Second each time new tools n technology and for same purpose everyone using diff tools and technology , for 5-7 months contract also they want green card or citizenship and when u ask for rate ..it's like a tip after 5 years experience . I am gujju . And I hated job within a 10 days in first job . Looking for business I think that's what I can do n want to do . Job even if they pay good I feel like 8-10 hrs in office for someone else n then stress for simple paperwork n getting treated like we are beggars .. can't take it . I felt many times like I am loosing self respect here . Staffing companies pain everyone knows that . If you spend 8-10 years in some country they give u PR but here it's like u in dead end but still people want to stick to it . I have tones of relatives undocumented and right now they damn playing in millions ..

Get rid of your self sympathy

      I absolutely agree. I live in the US legally but I do not believe that it is my right to get a green card. Whatever is, IS. And that is a FACT. When you come to the US, you make a CHOICE. No body puts a gun on your head and says go to US. People gladly accept the highs but are not willing to accept the lows.
      Can you try to make situations better? Sure. Do all that you can in your capacity. But do not act like the country owes you a green card just because you filed for your taxes.

      spacecase7717 shut the fuck up

    • @kkoun
      @kkoun 7 лет назад +21

      spacecase7717 it is not a leftist propaganda. It's the immigrants effort to show how hard it is to survive in their own country. Then coming to America and facing the hardships here as well. But they prefer America because there are civil rights as set in our Constitution. Forget left or right but think about human instincts to survive and live a better life. You will not understand this until your country puts your life in danger and deserts you. If you talk about illegal immigration, we allow them to live here for decades. Our government is equally accountable for this. Some of them are living here for more than 20 years now and still being undocumented. This shows how poor is our immigration system. If they are criminals and have done felonies yes send them back but majority of them are great people who are paying taxes and doing the jobs and adding to the economy. The kids are going to colleges and getting degrees and many of them are in law and medicine. So now it is totally wrong and inhumane to break these families apart and send them back, because their home is in America!

    • @spacecase7717
      @spacecase7717 7 лет назад +6

      I totally agree if they are here and working, all though a lot are not paying taxes but that is a different story, let them apply for a visa or citizenship and let them stay. I just think it is funny that this movie is trying to use Indians as an example of struggling immigrants, all the ones I've seen are either doctors or own a business and I'm friends with many of them. They are not the harden criminal gang members who rape and murder that illegal immigration enforcement is for.

      It might be cringeworthy for you because you can not relate to it. Just like I cannot relate to LGBT issues, women's issues, etc. That's true that no country has an obligation to accept foreigners just like no country has an obligation to remain centre for innovation and technological progress. Opinions like yours are shared by people who are not grateful enough to be citizens of this amazing country. This country is built by dreamers, explorers, who dared to leave their home behind, to achieve greatness. Unfortunately, in the process this country has accumulated a lot of average people who want average lives just like average country citizens and they want it easy. They want high paying jobs without high quality skills and education and the politicians want to keep these people happy. So they will build walls, deny entry, reject visas and so on. But that's ok every civilization has its peak.

      Native Americans would have limited the influx of foreigners to this country if they could. For the sake of self-preservation. Now the current civilization is trying to contain the influx of people coming in. Maybe the new immigrants will just take over just like the previous ones did. That doesn't mean it will be smooth.

      I agree with you that no country is obligated to accept foreigners. Although, same can't apply to America. It is branded as the 'Land of Opportunity' and opportunity doesn't see nationality. America is built by foreigners, it has always been the land of immigrants. There's no question of any of this being cringeworthy, since you don't realize what living 7000 miles away from your world and making it big, means and what it can do to you. India is a fast growing economy and a lot of things are changing. The agenda of moving to the States isn't stealing someone's job - it is creating opportunity and moving the world forward. As individuals, we should be able to go, live, work, travel anywhere in the world without being put into boxes. As I'm writing this - I realize that this is all probably falling on deaf ears. But it's worth putting out there.

      You know what buddy? Generalizing a billion people because of issues you might have had with a couple of them (or most, doesn't matter) isn't going to help you a lot. There's good and bad factors in any race. I've met Americans who have morals they live by, I've also met many that would do whatever necessary, to get up the ladder. The latter usually hide their lies behind the 'Capitalist America'.
