The biggest error about the Honda X-ADV 750 is, that most people think that it is "half a scooter, half a motorcycle". Big Foot rests, a small space where normally the tank is and some storage place under the sattle, does not make it a scooter. A Harley Electra Glide has the same amount of scooter attributes as the Honda has. The "Swiss Army knife"X-ADV replaced my Africa Twin and Electra Glide and I never had that much motorcycle fun in over 40 years and now 75.000 km. Yeah it is heavy for 55 Horsepowers but still 140 kg lighter than the Harley, and yeah it is absolutely great for that kind of legal German Offroading ;-) Anyway I understand your position as a scooter man.
It depends on what you want. The X-ADV is the scooter + motorcycle replacement. Its perfect for that. If you need a full on scooter or a full motorcycle then it might not be for you. The big plus for me is offroading which is a lot of fun with it.
I (aged 63) tested the honda NC750X, the X-ADV, the Forza 750 and the NT1100 DTC in one day with my wife as a passenger (aged 67) at an expo. The most comfortable was the Forza 750 for me and my wife. But the most efficient was the NT1100. When accelerating the NT1100 felt vibrations. Not at all with the 750s. Honda's pricing policy is sometimes strange because the full option X-ADV costs the same as the NT1100. I had an Africa Twin DCT 1000cc for two years, but it was too high for my wife and too abrupt for me during acceleration. The DCT sometimes dared to chock during acceleration. The NT1100, on the other hand, is much smoother when accelerating. On the X-ADV there, the seat was thinner and the passenger footpegs were way too high than on the Forza. This is because the Forza 750 has a lower exhaust. Regardless of the Forza's thicker seat, the scooter is lower than the X-ADV. Which probably gives the feeling of more comfort but also more stability. It is a pity that BMW no longer has a 650 cc scooter in its range. The 400cc is certainly a nice scooter but a class too light for me. Enjoy your new acquisition.
Thanks a lot for your feedback. I had no chance to test ride the Forza 750, think you are right about the more comfortable seating position. Maybe the NT1100 is the best for long distance touring and you get a lot of motorcycle for your money. Have a safe ride!

And I must admit that this is the better choice. The cost of ownership of an xadv is far less then a c400gt. I have 18000km on the xadv and only had to visit the workshop for normal maintenance.
I have several BMW’s well three different model GS but last year bought a C400GT and love it. Although I love riding the GS the C400 probably gets more use than the rest. It rides really well, my wife goes on the pillion and finds it really comfortable as well even at Highway speeds that it manages easily. I bought mine used two years old but with only 390 miles (627km) and looked like new. Even though I’m very happy with this one my local BMW dealer has a new one and am thinking about selling this one and getting the newer version. After watching you videos last year, the other channel I bought the Shad expandable top case and find this really useful for keeping our helmets or getting some shopping. Look forward to seeing your next trip👍

Thanks for all the videos about the Honda X-ADV. Very professional with a lot of practical infos. I have my X-ADV since June this year and had before a Suzuki Burgman 650. I‘m very happy with the Honda, but you’re right. It is expensive. I wish you good luck with the BMW 👍
@@K0nst4nt1n96 Thank you for the thought. I have 2 x Burgman 650 and are considering one of the Honda DCT models, AT, X-ADV perhaps the Forza 750 I've still to try the latest X-ADV and Forza. Tried the AT AS - most impressed. So then to keep the latest Burgman - at the moment yes.
Yikes! 18000 euro that was a lot of money for something that is not giving you what you want. I am glad you have found the machine for you. I came to the XADV from a traditional motorcycle background so it gives me the motorcycle feeling with the comfort of a scooter (now I am getting older). Having tried many scooters and as my wife is the pillion she also had a say in what was purchased and the XADV was found to be the most comfortable, so that was that! Enjoy your riding.
Im thinking of an X-ADV to replace my Africa Twin. I've had the Twin for several years and use it nearly every day. I've done Alpine trails and long road trips and its been fantastic. Problem is i mostly use it as a daily ride to work which is all short urban journeys. I'm trail riding a lot less. I'm riding with my wife a lot more and I think the X-ADV would be a better choice for the majority of my riding. I've tested an ATAS with the dct and loved that. Choices, choices...
This is a bit late, but I agree with absolutely everything you mentioned regarding the X-ADV, I do not have any back problems but, after one hour of riding on the X-ADV, my back would be really painful, I think as you mentioned, it has to do with not having t fuel tank to grip with your knees. Because as you say it can do most types of riding, I had dreams of touring with it, but couldn't face the back pain, I kept mine for one year and then exchanged it for a Triumph Tiger 800, then exchanged that for another Tiger, the 900 GT PRO, which I have now kept for four years, much nicer (the AT is too high, the NT too big).
Congratulations with New bike. But litle regret to know that your Honda review Will not be relised anymore. By the way Honda with Last soft update introdused turn by tyrn navigation ))
I couldn't agree more, even though 98% people like it but we are the 2%. This made me recall when I sold my brand new BMW GSA 1250 after 6 months, the bike is 200% fantastic but I had no good feeling ridding it but scary just because it is bulky. Then I bought HD Pan America 1250 which I loved it as I have been ridding HD for more than 20 some years. Used to consider to buy BMW C400GT but wanted to have bigger cc so I am about to buy the Honda ADV 750. Have fun with the beemer!
How about considering the adv350? Wish you had the opportunity to give a review on it ;) still enough power and half the price Ofcourse as a daily commuter Im waiting for mine 😊
I’m a viewer from Shanghai, China. Like you, I used to own a bmw 400gt. I saw your video and changed to a Honda xadv750. Have you ever considered changing to a yamaha Tmax? I also think that BMW’s seats are much more comfortable than xadv. Most of my time It's all commuting in the city, DCT will have setbacks when it is congested
If you ride mainly in the city, I would prefer the BMW because it's lighter and easier to handle. I never considered the T MAX, too expensive, I would go for a motorcycle for this price.
@@Marc.Stones In China, the price of tmax and xadv is about the same. After watching your video, I was also considering whether to switch back to bmw. I switched to bmw at the time because the shock absorbers were too hard. There are many potholes on the road in Shanghai. I often drive my wife, so it is not very comfortable.
I had C650S and It wasn't good at all. After 150 km/h very much vibrations. Also few faults, bigger end smoller. But I doubt on BMW quality after that.
LG Angelo
I can completely understand your decision. I've lived in Germany for 9 years and if you really don't go off-road you don't need a bike like X-ADV. On the other hand, in Croatia, the roads are not as nearly as good as they are in Germany, especially in the cities, and this is one of the main reasons I will get the Honda, it's a perfect commuter for me personally, except the price, which is really high and a reason for me to go slightly used. P S. I have a sports bike when I want the thrills 😁 Keep up the good work!
I had many many scooters before from little 125cc Runner, to big "touring" maxi scooter Honda SilwerWing 600 and now I have Piaggio Beverly 350 (BV350 in us) and its really great. It has 33hp as bmw c400, but lighter, it goes like you wouldnt belive it, faster than older 500cc Piaggios, except for top speed (bv 500, gilera nexus 500 ect), only faster scoot up to 500cc is tmax 500! Lots of underseat storage but in scoot that isnt bulky, its slick and nimble for city traffic, big 16inch front wheel, abs, traction contor etc what more would I want. But someone who is taler than 185cm, it might be a little cramped. But at 185cm and shorter its perfect!
@@Marc.Stones I'll take your answer in considiration since Im little bit taller than you and if you say that you have more leg room on BMW than on an ADV than that has to count for something.
If you want everything please try the new Tmax, it has everything for us older men. You have sporting feel, smiling face from start to finish, comfortable, storage and looks from everyone. Happy riding.
Enjoy your neo3😊 I m on 8k km with my 18 months Adv 350. Considering the c400gt I will have to go and test ride it. Please make a review with the screen functions etc Thanks
Actually bikes have to bought with the usage purposes. İ'm very happy with my xadv, i live out of the city and i won't be comfortable with a scooter. Good luck with the the scooter...
I notice you posted this a year ago. How are things since then? Any regrets? Were you suffering a bit of hedonic adaptation and felt the urge to buy something else? Just curious. Hope you are happy with what you are riding now.
But the storage under the seat for the BMW is somewhat misleading. With the under seat storage in the flex position you cannot start the scooter as it needs to be up or else it will rub against the rear tire. Am I wrong about that?
Thank you for the info on the X ADV. BMW cars and motorcycles are so lame. Look at that windshield and those joints that connect a small piece of windshield on top of that BMW scooter. So lame...
Hey Marc, sorry for being off-topic but that's why I decided to step up by getting the CB500X. It's "somewhere in the middle", does almost everything and ptovides a good mileage. Of course I clearly understand your choice to go back to the Luftwaffe (BMW😅)! The C400 is a very nice and solid scooter. Remember : it saved your life that day. Imagine being there on a smaller scooter... So, cheers my friend, I 'll keep on following you👍
Hi Dimitris, the CB500x is really a great bike for a good price. It really saved my day in France when I had my accident :-) I like the comfort of the BMW the X ADV is more a motorcycle. I hope you are fine my friend, have a nice weekend :-)
I had the c400x and loved it comuting 22 miles per day each way, I ride the NC750x DCT which is my fvourite, like you said on the X ADV I rode the new one for the 1st time a great bike but I would not buy it, I would buy the GT400 BMW the spec on them are fantastic and there quick off the mark, the seating is really comfy, Great vid
The question would be " didnt you imagine that all those accessories could make heavier your xadv? I mean, what did you expect with almost 30kg extra? Did you consider to remove things that you claimed to not be necessary? For me weight is not a big deal, if you stay vanilla as i prefer. I don't go off-road neither but i love the possibility to push a bit more and i like to have more bullet in a gun when i go for an adventure trip, even if it is planned to be zero-off road. By the way, c400 is a great scooter and if you enjoy it, if you ride it happy and relaxed, i am glad for you and i wish you a safe and joyfull driving. Congratulations for you new bike
W E I G H T - finally someone talks about it the right way. If the bike was lighter I would LICK it !!!... but at this weight I'm not getting anywhere close to it.
Hello Marc and thanks for your info’s. I agree: the sitting position is very bad on the XADV.. I am 183 cm and not finding (have only done 200 km so far) a good sitting position. How did you upholster and remodel your Sitzbank? Higher? Further back? Thanks for any tipps Christoph

i dont understand your stand on prices. where im from x-adv is about 14000 euro. and you said why not buy africatwin if you ar spendeng that much bu africa twin is about 23000 euros without dct and 28000 with dct and that bmw is over 20000 euros also. if you are talking about what it cost with all the extras you those also ad price to those other bikes and cost bout the same. so there is no comparison with price. then you said the weight was a factor africa twin is almost same weight without accessories than your old bike with all accessories.
ok its thats much cheaper in germany then i understand that point. i bought my first bike that nx500 and i tought i dont need more power because i dont ride like a maniac, but now i know i need bigger engine because if you want to ride highway speeds engine rews too much in my liking on these speeds. i tested adv350 that has same size engine as c400 gt and that was reving even higher. they are plenty powerful other wise but those 100-120 km/h i would like bigger engine
Have you tried a kymco ak550 ? Very nice ,comfortable, fast and handles curvey roads very good. The premium model has heated grips , cruise control and a power windshield.
I have test-ridden a completely new one. It seemed a bit sluggish from the start, but the flickering dashboard Noodoe was a total killer to my sensitive eyes. Pass. Had a T-Max 530 Ironmax 2015 instead - best styling of them all, limited edition. Pinnacle of T-Maxes IMHO.
Yeah, exactly. Chinese made scooter with BMW logo on it. Still hugely overpriced. Potential customer should think twice before making any scooter buying decision. Throwing money out of the window. Personally I would like to go for motorcycle which is much much better option for thousand of reasons. And lastly of course I must admit that is still my point of view only..
You spemt all that money in 6 months for a scooter that you realized you dont like? In the first place you didnt ask yourself if you wanted to go offroad? Then after buying you still bought alot of acceossries. And you want comfort. Bmw scooter is best for you. Looks boring! X adv looks alot better. But for practically on your situation then I can see why you chose bmw scooter.

After watching you videos last year, the other channel I bought the Shad expandable top case and find this really useful for keeping our helmets or getting some shopping. Look forward to seeing your next trip👍
The BMW C 400 GT is a good choice. The new model has some technical improvements like e gas. My next trip follows soon. Have a safe ride 🙂👍
Do BMW manufacture C-600 GT?
@@oferzeira8125 think it’s the C650GT and the sport version was badged C600 although think it may have had the same engine as the GT at 647cc. It’s a good scooter but don’t think they make it anymore although I may be wrong there. I have a friend who has two and loves them.
How many miles does yours have? Do you find the maintenance straight forward and is it reliable? What’s considered high mileage on BMW scooters?
@@clayfarnet970 Not sure what’s considered high mileage on a scooter, my one only has a few thousand at the moment with no problems so far. I don’t do any work myself just get serviced at the local BMW dealer. I have a friend who has the C650GT with about 50k, does all his own servicing and has not had any problems so far. I think the belt needs changing at 12k not sure I’ll have it that long but if I have maybe that’s when my can help out, think that can be a bit pricey at the dealer.

I love my X-ADV but the Burgman was something special. It will always be in my heart.
Thanks a lot, have a safe ride!
If you are riding a lot with your wife the pillion comfort is very important and happy wife happy life :-) Enjoy your ride with the X ADV
18.000 euros no vale vale 13.500 y ahora sale 1000 más barata
@@Marc.Stones 😃❤👍
Why not you get the Forza 750. It's also a DCT gearbox
Also heavy and expensive :-) For the same price I can get 2 bikes.
Congratulations with New bike. But litle regret to know that your Honda review Will not be relised anymore. By the way Honda with Last soft update introdused turn by tyrn navigation ))
Thanks a lot :-)
I couldn't agree more, even though 98% people like it but we are the 2%.
This made me recall when I sold my brand new BMW GSA 1250 after 6 months, the bike is 200% fantastic but I had no good feeling ridding it but scary just because it is bulky. Then I bought HD Pan America 1250 which I loved it as I have been ridding HD for more than 20 some years.
Used to consider to buy BMW C400GT but wanted to have bigger cc so I am about to buy the Honda ADV 750.
Have fun with the beemer!
Thanks for your feedback and have a safe ride :-)
How about considering the adv350? Wish you had the opportunity to give a review on it ;) still enough power and half the price
Ofcourse as a daily commuter
Im waiting for mine 😊
I considered the adv 350 too, great commuter, lots of under seat storage, good engine, but my seating position is better on the BMW :-)
the main problem with the adv 350 is the harsh - hard rear suspension. If this could be improved it would be perfect!
Subbed! I've just bought a c400x for my Landscape Photography trips. Great to have found your channel!
Thanks and have a safe ride !
You can get some shock absorbers from YSS for the C 400 GT. They are adjustable.
@@Marc.Stones Thanks bro
I had C650S and It wasn't good at all. After 150 km/h very much vibrations. Also few faults, bigger end smoller. But I doubt on BMW quality after that.
Hallo Marc,
I can completely understand your decision. P S. I have a sports bike when I want the thrills 😁
Keep up the good work!
How about Piaggio 400 ??
I am 202 cm, i used to Drive Piaggio 250 and it was kind of perfect, good wind protection, uused to Drive like motorcycle....
Did you consider on buying Honda ADV 350? Have you tried it? If you have how does it compare with BMW?
I tried it, but the riding comfort for me is better on the BMW. More leg room and more comfortable seat.
Enjoy your neo3😊
I m on 8k km with my 18 months Adv 350.
Considering the c400gt
I will have to go and test ride it.
Please make a review with the screen functions etc
Thanks
Hi, thanks, you find a video with subtitles on my other channel: ruclips.net/video/SISZkleUNgA/видео.html
Stay with the adv 350 its better than the bmw ,Honda has been making scooters for 75 years ,BMW 4 YEARS. I know who i would trust with my money
Actually bikes have to bought with the usage purposes. İ'm very happy with my xadv, i live out of the city and i won't be comfortable with a scooter. Good luck with the the scooter...
Ok, kommt überraschend, so schnell!
Why not the new Transalp ?! A Jack-of-all-trades. 80% road, 20% off. So mainly road. Cheers.
I notice you posted this a year ago. How are things since then? Any regrets? Were you suffering a bit of hedonic adaptation and felt the urge to buy something else? Just curious. Hope you are happy with what you are riding now.
What about Honda Forza 750 for example? Any opinions, experience?
A very good scooter, but I was not able to get one for a test ride.
But the storage under the seat for the BMW is somewhat misleading. With the under seat storage in the flex position you cannot start the scooter as it needs to be up or else it will rub against the rear tire. Am I wrong about that?
You are right about the flex case.
Thank you for the info on the X ADV. BMW cars and motorcycles are so lame. Look at that windshield and those joints that connect a small piece of windshield on top of that BMW scooter. So lame...
You bought the wrong scooter, shuda went for the T Max tech max.
Nice new scooter
@@Marc.Stones you too Britton!
You are right, the C 400 GT is a very comfortable scooter. Thanks for your feedback 👍
What's your opinion about BMW c400 gt vs Beverly 400hpe? Thanks!
For me the BMW is more comfortable when you are a tall rider.
Thanks for your feedback, the helmet is a HJC RPHA 70. Cheers Marc
W E I G H T - finally someone talks about it the right way. If the bike was lighter I would LICK it !!!... but at this weight I'm not getting anywhere close to it.
Absolutely agree, way too heavy
Hello Marc and thanks for your info’s. I agree: the sitting position is very bad on the XADV.. I am 183 cm and not finding (have only done 200 km so far) a good sitting position. How did you upholster and remodel your Sitzbank? Higher? Further back?
Thanks for any tipps
Christoph
Hi, the seat was upholstered a bit more straight and the curvy shape was not that strong, so you sit a bit more back.
@@Marc.Stones thank you Marc
Sold mine too....after 10 months for the exact same reasons:)
Why you dont look Honda Adv 350? I think is better and chiper with lot of real space under the seat + top box
I tried it, but the seating position is not comfortable for me.
Have you tried the Forza 750? more of a scooter, but mostly the same as the X Adv.
Not yet, but it looks great, but very heavy.
You sold it??? I can’t believe it man😮
hello whats thre brand of your helmet, it looks great, which model?

Tmax?
❤❤❤
i dont understand your stand on prices. where im from x-adv is about 14000 euro. and you said why not buy africatwin if you ar spendeng that much bu africa twin is about 23000 euros without dct and 28000 with dct and that bmw is over 20000 euros also. if you are talking about what it cost with all the extras you those also ad price to those other bikes and cost bout the same. so there is no comparison with price. then you said the weight was a factor africa twin is almost same weight without accessories than your old bike with all accessories.
ok its thats much cheaper in germany then i understand that point. i bought my first bike that nx500 and i tought i dont need more power because i dont ride like a maniac, but now i know i need bigger engine because if you want to ride highway speeds engine rews too much in my liking on these speeds. i tested adv350 that has same size engine as c400 gt and that was reving even higher. they are plenty powerful other wise but those 100-120 km/h i would like bigger engine
I can't decide between the ADV350 and the C400X
I would go for the ADV 350
Hi, could you share your helmet model?
It's a HJC RPHA 70 Carbon
A Chinese made motorcycle? How does it compare to a vespa gts300?
Technically much better than the Vespa, but of course the Vespa is better looking 😁
China is the larger of the two first-rate manufacturer nations.

Hello Marc. - That's a big surprise, that you sold your Honda scooter. - Did you buy a BMW again?
Hi, yes, it‘s a C 400 GT again 😀
@@Marc.Stones Than we can say: "Never change a winning team!" 👍
Honda x is more like a bike than a scooter. Not comfortable for long trips. The height of the bar is not comfortable for long trips
Gibt's das auch in Deutsch ?
ruclips.net/video/T6OKjOq5tX4/видео.html
Yeah, exactly. Chinese made scooter with BMW logo on it. Still hugely overpriced. Potential customer should think twice before making any scooter buying decision. Throwing money out of the window. Personally I would like to go for motorcycle which is much much better option for thousand of reasons. And lastly of course I must admit that is still my point of view only..
CVT is the most significant innovation in the motorcycling. How many kms you've run on a decent size CVT ? (>300cc)
something is wrong with this motorcycle...
it is heavier than Suzuki Hayabusa. Honda has done something wrong in this
Gutes Video, leider nicht in deutscher Sprache.
Es gibt natürlich deutsche Untertitel.
@@Marc.Stones das ist ein schwacher Trost.
But for practically on your situation then I can see why you chose bmw scooter.

very interesting video- thank you very much for very informative information. so months after that - do you feel the difference in power between 400 and 750?
Yes, of course there is difference in power, but the 34 hp are enough for my kind of usage
Sorry my friend, but you just made a shitty deal. The Honda might be heavier but it's a much better build bike, and nearly twice the displacement.
You can see my new bike on the channel now !
