I miss it. I did the programming for this game. We only had 3 months to develop it and it was hell! But it is such an important game that I sometimes search for videos like this.
Wow really, that's awesome! Didn't think a dev for this game would comment on this video, I sometimes wonder if they also get nostalgic over games they created. Thanks for making an awesome game.
even as a kid I was impressed that this was on the DS. my siblings and I played it a ton. we'd play around on the pirate ship and pretend it was a house. you all did an amazing job :) as a fellow gamedev I'm incredibly impressed this was all done in 3 months
The fact i can remember playing this game when I was probably 4/5 years old is crazy and I definitely didn’t know wtf was happening so watching this gives me extra context for the game
I was sitting watching SpongeBob and the Atlantis episode came up. The way it seemed like a door from my childhood opened up. I completely forgot I had this game and completed it several times because of how much I loved it. Amazing!
I grew up with this game, Drawn to life SpongeBob, and Truth or Square DS. Aka the Altron trilogy. I just adore the chiptunes in all of these games. They're so nostalgic
This game was everything when i was young, since i rarely got games and the internet wasnt a thing in my household back then, being able to see it again is everything, and hearing the spongebob hit sound effect almost made me cry, nostalgia hit hit like tsunami
As a kid I was scared of the fight in 1:12:34. Now that im older every other fight went easy except that one, explaining why I was looking for a walk through
I honestly never expected a Spongebob game on the DS to be this good. The soundtrack, the fact that each character you can play as has their own unique skills, the levels, the enemies, etc. I played and beat this game more times than I could count, and I wish I didn't sell it.
Mr. Krabs has some decent uses. Not only does he clip tall grass that's in your way when you use his action with another character, he's an infinite Melody Shell source, and he's basically the only source of Golden Melody Shells (worth 50 normal shells). His charge "attack" digs in the ground for them and if you time it right, you'll get a Golden Shell every time.
there's basically only 1 part of the game where he's required and its in mu continent's blue level partick is better than mr krabs because of his overpowered combo ability
When I was a kid and I was bored on my dsi and played all of my games except one it was this game and I had no clue how to win but when I got in the hang of it I won the levels. ahhh... the glory days...
After checking both this, GBA and Console versions The DS has the BEST experience comparing to the TV Special GBA is 2nd. The consoles are just merely minimum.
I had no idea why but as a kid I always never knew how to get past the dark room after unlocking the door to the underground passage in the Continent Of Mu. Now as an adult I’ve beat this game countless times...
Everyone talks about Battle for Bikini Bottom and other SpongeBob related games, but there’s not been a peep about this game whatsoever. Kinda depressing.
I remember getting this game for Christmas back when I was 5 or 6 years old and loving it so much! I found this game again at a thrift store a few months ago and I played the Hell out of it when I got home!
I beat this game 3 times. Once when I was 8, another time years later when I was 11 and lastly during the pandemic when I was 20. It hits every time. Love this game!
Besides this, and the Phineas and Ferb trilogy of games, Altron shows that they were an actually good developer of games with licensed properties tied to them.
@@wooducky Also, little tip: you can press the attack button in the air to fight the enemies if you’re a little cornered. I don’t think I’ve seen most playthroughs do that, so just a heads up. Wish I had that game…
The squidward music mini game right? I ripped my nintendo in 2 bc of it in anger when i was like 10 x I AM GETTING TRAUMA FROM THIS GAME, THE SOUND EFFECTS, I REMEMBER THEM, I CAN STILL REMEMBER
This is how the console version shoud be,free roam, jumping around, have the mechanic to fight ecc but with the graphics from spongebob the movie/BFBB game ps 2 version...missed opportunity at the time
I remember when I was like 7 and I literally could never get passed like the first 2 levels for the life of me I’d play hours upon hours and it was literally so hard for me I have no idea why 😭
This is apparently my first and my most played game on the 3ds. It says that I have played this game for over 50 hours, yet I have no recollection of me ever playing it
@wooducky Must be because I got my wii in 2014, and my mom says I got the 3ds after it, but the first time I played was 2013 but the last time I played was 2016, and I already had the 3ds by then because I got NSMB2 in 2015. Sorry if this comment is a grammatical nightmare
@wooducky None of this makes sense, because now I see here that I played TMNT for the first time in mid-2014, and I know that we bought the game and that I got the 3ds on christmas
@wooducky I know you probably don't care, but I just found a picture I took in 2013 when I got the 3ds, which means that it wasn't someone else that played the game but me

thank you for your service to this game i played this so much as a kid
You did a great job with those 3 months, just watching this makes me love it to death despite the limitations.

Thank you for developing this game! It was definitely one of my favourite ds games
I haven’t played this game in probably 12 years and the nostalgia that’s hitting me rn is crazy
I’ve wanted the GBA Version
I didn’t know DS And GBA were the same (cuz of the music)
Not the sprites and all that
This unlocked a memory honestly. I’ve been looking for this game for YEARS
The fact i can remember playing this game when I was probably 4/5 years old is crazy and I definitely didn’t know wtf was happening so watching this gives me extra context for the game
I actually cried because of nostalgia. And I'm tearing up writing this
This is also my childhood game, glad you enjoyed!
this game is one of the ds games that practically raised me
I was sitting watching SpongeBob and the Atlantis episode came up. The way it seemed like a door from my childhood opened up. I completely forgot I had this game and completed it several times because of how much I loved it. Amazing!
This gave me a huge wave of nostalgia I remember so many of these sounds and segments from the levels.
Finally a longplay of my childhood game without cheating and no commentary
Appreciate the comment🦆
Lmao cheating
What
???
i lost this game forever ago and just bought it on amazon to replay it… the memories are insane
Oh man! I used to play this game as a kid! I remember being stuck on the first level because I didn’t know you had to collect the amulet pieces!
I got stuck on the jellyfish boat part and rage quit when I was a kid 😂😂😂
I also got stuck on level one but I’m not sure why however.
@@tentacledaddy Happened to me as well
I Yeah I Got Frustrated On The First Level When I Was A Child But Now I Beat The Game Now
I got stuck in the squidward mini game and i partially couldn’t beat the game but then i was able to do it and beat the game
I grew up with this game, Drawn to life SpongeBob, and Truth or Square DS. Aka the Altron trilogy. I just adore the chiptunes in all of these games. They're so nostalgic
they're not chiptune they're simply just sequenced music
This game was everything when i was young, since i rarely got games and the internet wasnt a thing in my household back then, being able to see it again is everything, and hearing the spongebob hit sound effect almost made me cry, nostalgia hit hit like tsunami
That was my first DS game ever
I absolutely hate the green jellyfish that have red spots. They always pop out of nowhere, surprise me and give me a heart attack.
True
As a kid I was scared of the fight in 1:12:34. Now that im older every other fight went easy except that one, explaining why I was looking for a walk through
I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME
Yep, I remember being stuck on it and the way it moved fast was pretty creepy. But SpongeBob is probably the best character for this battle!
NO SAME CUZ ITS SO LOUD
I honestly never expected a Spongebob game on the DS to be this good. The soundtrack, the fact that each character you can play as has their own unique skills, the levels, the enemies, etc. I played and beat this game more times than I could count, and I wish I didn't sell it.
mr krabs is the worst sandy is the best

The nostalgia with these spongebob games im glad I grew up with them the future kids will never understand what we grew up with
THE SOUND EFFECTS ARE SO NOSTALGIC
Ordering me a ds right now to relive this moment ❤ thx for this
Ayyyy finally a playthrough without cheats!
You are the first one to comment on any of my playthrough's!
Thank you
When I was a kid and I was bored on my dsi and played all of my games except one it was this game and I had no clue how to win but when I got in the hang of it I won the levels. ahhh... the glory days...
Truly the glory days
After checking both this, GBA and Console versions
The DS has the BEST experience comparing to the TV Special
GBA is 2nd.
The consoles are just merely minimum.
I would play this game over and over when I was a child, it was so fun and oh the nostalgia... its beautiful
Ah memories, sometimes I forget this game was on the ds and not 3ds
I played this when I was less than 10. Now im 15 and have fond memories of it.
The fact this is better then the console version says a lot
Yeah It Also Adds Another Place Called Continent Of Mu
I had no idea why but as a kid I always never knew how to get past the dark room after unlocking the door to the underground passage in the Continent Of Mu. Now as an adult I’ve beat this game countless times...
13:10 I didn't know Metroids were in this game.
i almost cried looking at this video bc i used to play this game sooo much and i totally forgot about it, i’m reliving my childhood thru this video
I remember playing this game when I was younger brings back memories

Man this game was fun as hell. I can't believe I lost my copy of it 😭
it’s hard to believe that this game is almost SEVENTEEN years old. i feel ancient.
Omg, this game was my childhood! I’ve had so many memories playing this! If this game gets a remaster, I’d be super happy!
Haven't played this game in a decade and this brings back so many memories
I beat this game 3 times. Once when I was 8, another time years later when I was 11 and lastly during the pandemic when I was 20. It hits every time. Love this game!
holy shit the sound of spongebob taking damage just hit me with a WAVE of nostalgia
This game is so much better than the wii/ps2 version
Only thing that isn't better is the music. Say what you want about the console version but the music is amazing
i played this game when i was younger i loved it
One of my fav DS games! Definitely spent hours struggling but it was definitely a lot of fun!
The fact that you literally can throw Patrick and SpongeBob is so funny to me
3:47
WOW!
One of those games where the handheld port outshines the console port
I just repurchased this game because I loved it so much and I’m so glad I found this
Is there anything after the credits? I lost my nintendo without pass this game and in my mobile emulador can not save UnU
Answer please UnU
Sorry to hear about that :( after the credits I'm pretty sure everything is just normal, you can replay the levels or play the minigames.

I vaguely remember playing this. It’s kind of surreal to see.
i almost don’t even wanna watch the gameplay because of the fact that i can barely remember it, i just wanna go get a new copy and play it for myself
games like this , spyro, nsmb, all made my child hood
Besides this, and the Phineas and Ferb trilogy of games, Altron shows that they were an actually good developer of games with licensed properties tied to them.
I want to see this DS Remake on the next new console
I always wonder as a kid what those collectibles were for like the one at 4:40 ?
I think they were just a lil challenge to collect
Glad you guys enjoyed!
Is there any other good old DS game you want me to play?
Nicktoons Attack of the Toybots?

This Game Is Good Better Then The Episode
2:46:07
I know this is considered to be one of the worst SpongeBob games (and tv special) but I love it nonetheless, it was my childhood.
Alot of people actually like this game:)
The Console Version is said to be the worst version. The DS Version is the best one!
I miss it so much 😢
i know you’re playing with a mouse and not a stylus but dear GOD that music game section was painful lmao
Yup, the mouse made it a lot harder
This is apparently my first and my most played game on the 3ds. It says that I have played this game for over 50 hours, yet I have no recollection of me ever playing it
Wow, maybe it was the previous owner of the 3ds who played it?
