OMG as a huge fan of this channel I can't believe I never saw this video until just now (Jan 2020). Finally I see the face attached to the voice! I may be traumatized for life LOL. You know how you get a mental image of someone from just hearing their voice, especially if you've heard it for quite some time but never seen them? Yeah ... TOTALLY DIFFERENT than I expected. Not necessarily in a bad way but jarringly different enough from the vague mental picture I'd developed that now there is some kind of weird "does not compute" thing going on in my head when I watch the rest of the video. Oh well, I'll eventually get over it - perhaps watching more ToT is good therapy ..... On a serious note Mr. Old Tony, I honestly do tremendously enjoy every video. He then turned to me and said -Lets get the fuck out of here, before we'd have to use our free medical care. As we started walking, i heard him shout -Farouk, time! The entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and i really had to take this off my chest. I'm thinking about unsubscribing.
@@StanislavG. I get that it was not what you expected, but put yourself in his shoes. Did you ever think that maybe a guy who never shows his face in his videos, rarely ever puts personal details in his videos, has never (to my knowledge) said his real name in his videos, and gives little to no indication of where he specifically lives in his videos might be trying very hard to avoid the exact situation you put him in? To him your just some random internet stranger, possibly even some dangerous lunatic (not saying you are but how the hell would he know that). Now you have not only put him in an awkward situation by ambushing him off the street, but now you've shared details with the whole world that he clearly didn't wish to share and in so doing violated his privacy. Did you even think about any of this before posting your comment? That story wasn't funny. It was petty and inconsiderate.
These videos are starting to make a bunch of connections for an habitual recent viewer. I mean, I've enjoyed so many over the last 3 years and it is a pleasure to see the early stuff. Thank you This Old Tony!
After seeing just the intro, the face makes so much sense, and I love the humor. Keep the awesome videos coming. I feel like we've known each other for years!
I watched this video with a non-mechanical inclinded friend (he sells website so... yeah...) and I had to explain that it was not real everytime he went "whoaaaaaa dude....". I feel like Tony's prank are just "real" enough...
As I sit down to watch this for the bazillionth time I realize the opening joke hits a little differently now that you're actually at 1 million subscribers. Congrats TOT
Making about pass number 7 through the ToT channel vids and this one popped up. I remembered it from a few years back but I coulda swore Alan Alda was in that chair. Anyway, thank you Tony for getting me into machining and forcing me to spend all my mo……..holding my hand while walking me through the steps of hobby machining. Great to see a face for the hands. Thanks!
I can imagine that any kid that managed to watch you will have his thought processes totally bent out of shape - I love it. Planing tool steel, that has to go well when the kid tries it with his dad's beloved wood working tools!
Hi Tony! Love your videos. Just a note which 30 other people have probably already brought to your attention: Stress causes strain. Stress is measured in units of pressure, for example Pascales or PSI, and is the force exerted on an area. That force causes strain, which is deformation of the material. Strain is unitless and is simply a percent deformation (strain value of 0.2 being 20% deformation). Anyway, I thought I'd share this, as you've taught me so much about machining without me ever having to karate chop a chunk of D3 myself. Cheers!
Man I found your channel like 5 years ago... Maybe more? Idk, point is I got hooked and watched a ton of your videos and I dunno what happened, whether you stopped uploading or RUclips just stopped showing me your videos on the feed, but I hadn't watched you in years, then recently, one of your old videos I had already watched popped up (which of course I proceeded to watch again, I think I've watched your making springs video like 3 times already) Anyway WOW, you have a million subs now... never thought I'd actually get to see your face. I dunno, faces usually match the voices like 99.99% of the time, but somehow I am not convinced here. I just can't match that voice to how you look. Your voice totally matches your hands, but I dunno, I thought you'd look thicker, perhaps older, just different. Anyway, this video was absolutely amazing, that insert tool was an absolute work of art in my eyes.
Been watching through the ol' catalogue again, for memories sake. Can you believe 1 million subs has become real? That said, this might be the finest example I've ever found of the exact type of dad humor I resonate with, and it's why I loved the channel so much the minute I found it (from Alex French Guy Cooking's channel, when you rebuilt his pasta press)
Wow, not a lot of RUclipsrs (especially makers) get me laughing so hard... I mean, that face! Congrats on 100k Tony. One of the best channels on this whole damn site.
I have only been watching your videos for a few months and love them but only have time for one every few days. I just came across this one in my “recommended” list. The reason I’m commenting on it (I seldom write comments.... I just hit the “like” button) is because I saw that you had just passed 100K subs. It is now just under two years later and you are at just under 500K subs!!! Your style and content is definitely in demand! Thank you for educating and entertaining so many of us that are trying to improve our skills in this craft.
Heya Tony, I might be considered a long-time fan by now. Never really figured to comment because you sorta feel like a mentor you just don't want to waste time of. Anyway, just wanted to say I love you. You're gold. Don't tell my lady I said this. Forever yours, a fan
It's funny how after all this time watching his videos, learning how to thread on a lathe and driving my compound into the chuck, milling my first spur gear realizing i suck at math and getting a 20 and a 1/2 teeth gear i had never seen the face of the man teaching me these things. Thanks for all the help and troubles you caused.
I see you, you weirdo! This man is even greater than you already believe, people. I'm not going to embarrass him by telling you all the details, but he totally stuck his neck out for me, and pretty soon, after this pandemic foolishness is over, we will be dedicating our new workshop to him. So love the man as much as you can. He is every bit as good a guy off camera as he appears on camera. No joke.
That's not an exaggeration. 100,000 subs can't be wrong, and one of these days when we get our own channel popping, you'll see how much Tony mattered to a couple of strangers who were trying to start something good. He's The Man! Totally!
Laughed hard about the pimped out jewelry. Love your channel from the first hour, it's getting incremental better (don't know how to convert that to inches). Not saying you did a lousy job at first, but you surprise every time. Great, great work.
Oh Good Grief! I’ve just re-watched this, and seen the “subscribe” appeal. This channel is just pure genius! So many laughs to see and uncover. Thanks Tony. Les
Awesome video, congrats on reaching 100K. Just to let you know, I sold my band saw, sawzall and my Milwaukee metal cutting circular saw and bought 2 cases of WD-40 awesome tip!! Thanks!!
3Triskellion3 i actually was watching one of his old videos yesterday of him handscraping a straight edge, he showed his face for a second in that, same dude
You know how you form this vague non descript ghostly mental image of the voice you hear often but have never seen the face. I would know it if I saw it but cant describe it. BTW I notice we have similar hair style ;) ATB, Robin
I dare say, you looked in my minds' eye like a mottled silver, gray pedagogue. Dismissive to all but the most exemplary of students and yet only appreciative of those whom understood your humor. Now that you have been unmasked your voice (as mine FWIW) does not seem to fit your body. You are nonetheless an auteur. Good work,
I love that you do have to have some knowlege on so many things to get all his jokes. Like exactly how goddamn absurd it is to hand plane a piece of steel.
This youtube channel is primarily to blame for me pursuing a career in machining. Your humour, wit, and skill is unmatched and we can't wait to see your return to youtube.
Well Tony, this must have been some time ago, there’s me thinking about 100k but showing well over 700k! As per usual the video was brilliant, you manage to show us a proper “how to make a great product “ without having to endure a load of B/S and not buy expensive tooling that would cost more than buying the tool you wanted to make in the first place. Keep up the great work and I think it’s great that you use child labour in your workplace (kidding). But I think involving the kids is a good move rather than watching them waste their lives on a phone/ tablet/game machine etc. I wish that more people would involve them and help pass on their knowledge. Have yourself an your family a wonderful weekend, of course we can see some more of your videos.....Phil
Being such a huge fan of this channel, HOW IN THE WORLD DID I MISS THIS ONE?!?! Tony's so manpretty. Why does he hide his face from us now?? 😁😁😁 I'm digging through the back catalog of of your videos Tony. If I missed this one then surely I've missed a couple more. Thanks for thoroughly entertaining us with the greatest Dad jokes on the interwebs!!!
Oh, I about died laughing when you popped on the "100k Subz" knuckle dusters! Watching this channel and drinking water at the same time don't go together lol.
I had forgotten what a work of art this video IS so I'm so glad Martin reminded me of it. So here I am watching it again for the 12th time and laughing may proverbial ass off. Thanks TOT.
Definitely wasn't expecting a face reveal! Now we need to get AvE to do one. I'm just a creep who really wants to know what ol' Uncle Bumblefuck looks like.
Just love the madness. I think our minds are similar, therefore we are both geniuses! Or its it genii? And thank you from us all in the UK for the metric translations.
Tony you realise there are people out there trying to use their wood planer to create chips on tools steel don't you. Out of 100k subs, that is GOING to happen
Yep me too.And I don't think your videos are meant for or directed towards the real entry level hobbiest's anyway Tony. If someone did ever try it I sure hope they put a video up showing what they did and expressing how wrong your videos are. You can't buy belly laughs that good. :-)
Thanks Tony! Seeing you pay homage to so many familiar faces youtube machines, with just the right measure of your satirical homage mixed with tongue in cheek, it is great entertainment. It is like watching Happy Days and seeing and seeing the spin-off sitcoms characters reborn, Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy and Joanie Loves Chachi. Gold!!!
Holy smokes. I was sure it really wasn’t that old mr. Antony, until he showed the google profile pic. And... it feels like meeting an old good internet friend in person, who lives really far away, for the first time. For whats worth, it stands true on my side. Im a pediatrician (no, not a foot doctor, thats a podoatrian 😆. People often take one for the other), hobbyst woodworker, and got to Tony’s channel for the drill sharpening video, and stayed for the jokes (and machines. Who doenst like machines right?). And for a while, it stood as my favorite humor channel. It’s no overstating that tots scripts and production is top quality professional content. But then, probably subconsciously, I started get this weird want, which evolved into a urge, to start on some machining and metalworking. Almost like the subscribe messages are not the only subliminal messages on his videos 🤔 😆. I do mostly handtool woodworking (which i found tot is also fond of on the stool videos), and didn’t even had a drill press. Now, im halfway into building my lathe (the ideia is for it to be able to do some limited metalwork, which should cover 90% of my shop needs, but will be used mostly for woodturning) while scanning the deep web for a proper metal lathe. And a mill. I also got into welding (stick, planing an upgrade to tig for the next 6 to 12 months), electric work, electric motors, heat treatment... My handplanes feel lonely sometimes I think. But hey, at least my wood has time to dry properly now. Thank you a lot, my friend Tony. Hey, you are actually getting pretty near the 1kk subscribers now huh?
This autoplayed while working...Danggg~ Who would have guessed that Tony only need 30k more to reach 1 Million Subs 3 years after this video~ Keep up the good work tony~
On think I noticed since I started building up my hobby machineshop is that the most reason you need a machine generally is to make tools, parts or components for either that machine itself, or one of the other machines you own. Its a never ending circle of awesomeness.
It just occurred to me that this channel is nothing but a bunch of well-filmed dad jokes.
Holy crap. I feel like I just took the blue pill!

Ah yeah, so, i decided to give it a try, so me and Dima took a couple of beers and went to the bus station.
We wandered around for awhile.
The place was kindda creepy. I had no idea what we were looking for.

-Please call Rudolf, tell him to prepare the room - said AvE to Farouk and gave him the paper bag. He turned away and started walking towards the black door of The Empire.
-I love your channel, man! - i said to his back.
-Farouk, take care of this please - he said without turning his head and made a waving hand gesture.
-I think it would be better for all of us if both of you get the fuck out of here before i break your shit - Calmly said Farouk.
-We're sorry, sir - said Dima.
What a great story!
You actually look like I pictured you... an older version of your kids! We ALL don't have the words to thank you for sharing!!!!
After seeing just the intro, the face makes so much sense, and I love the humor. Keep the awesome videos coming.
I feel like we've known each other for years!
"Jump-cutting your stock" made me laugh out loud. I'm going to shamelessly steal that for one of my videos.
I watched this video with a non-mechanical inclinded friend (he sells website so... yeah...) and I had to explain that it was not real everytime he went "whoaaaaaa dude....".
I feel like Tony's prank are just "real" enough...
Congratulations on getting to that 1M Tony!
Thanks!
2020: Actually we're not miles away from the genuine 1M.
A couple more cat videos should do it.
Hint hint hint.
I'd watch a video of ToT machining a cat
95.1% of the way! Maybe I'll write a SubscriberBot to help out.
its close!
@@UncleKennysPlace Bots would be detrimental to the engagement, and the channel.
About 24k to go until the million!
5:33 the bolt head says subscribe
Project Dandom Well spotted!!
Nice catch, i didn't see it, but usualy do when it happens.
Project Dandom damn man you blow my mind
Damn! Subliminal messages
There is one in every video
We’re still almost there!
I had a crappy night at work and watched this while I put my tools away. I'm much happier now :)
Thanks Hopper, appreciate that!
Hi Tony! Great work again, I'm going to use part of this video in my physics classes when I teach elasticity and Hooke's law!
I'm still work from home and started rewatching the videos... 1 mil... 100k... 1 mil... how about now, This Old Tony? :D
IT HAPPENED!!!!!!!! 1 MILLION SUBS!!!!!!!!
YEEES!!! 2:08 thank you!
What's at 2:08?
Thanks Winter! ;)
OMG I’m gonna die 😮
I have only been watching your videos for a few months and love them but only have time for one every few days. I just came across this one in my “recommended” list. The reason I’m commenting on it (I seldom write comments.... I just hit the “like” button) is because I saw that you had just passed 100K subs. It is now just under two years later and you are at just under 500K subs!!! Your style and content is definitely in demand! Thank you for educating and entertaining so many of us that are trying to improve our skills in this craft.
Few years later and you actually hit the 1 million mark. Great job and good luck expanding further!
Heya Tony, I might be considered a long-time fan by now. Never really figured to comment because you sorta feel like a mentor you just don't want to waste time of. Anyway, just wanted to say I love you. You're gold. Don't tell my lady I said this.
Forever yours,
a fan
congrats Tony and thank you for the invite....great build
Thanks Chuck!
Wait wait wait is this actually him, damn this in not what my brain pictured
:))
You are SOOOOOOOO close to a million... Oh I bet you are saving your next video for that milestone
Thanks!
Hes gotten at least 3 inches better
For sure, that's a sharp hand plane!
As I sit here watching this, 5 years in the future, I can’t help but notice that Tony has, in fact, got 1.1 million subscribers.
Oh Good Grief! I’ve just re-watched this, and seen the “subscribe” appeal. This channel is just pure genius! So many laughs to see and uncover. Thanks Tony.
Les
Stress/ strain comparison of “me versus wife” really made my day 😂
Great video, can't wait for the 1million subs episode. Had to start rewatching all of your videos again. I even bought a Tig welder and a mill🤔😆
Awesome video, congrats on reaching 100K. Just to let you know, I sold my band saw, sawzall and my Milwaukee metal cutting circular saw and bought 2 cases of WD-40 awesome tip!! Thanks!!
I NEVER KNEW THIS VIDEO EXISTED...... I been watching for a couple years and had no clue😂 thanks recommend ✊✊
4 years later you are at one million subscribers good job love the vids!
i refuse to beleive that's tony, it must be an actor
agree
Old Tomy looks young. O.o
Or i get old fast. >.
This is a stand-in stuntman.
3Triskellion3 i actually was watching one of his old videos yesterday of him handscraping a straight edge, he showed his face for a second in that, same dude
Holy shit, Tony has a face!
Wait, where's his third arm?
I'm conflicted now. Shall I watch the video or keep the mystery?
Watch the video blindfolded
Rexus King I'd just been picturing Ray Romano all this time...
And he looks exactly like I didn't picture him!
"Last thing I want is for this to go to my head" Brilliant!
Your humor is the kind that only few understand. I love it.
Great stuff. Favorite machinist channel. I come for the machining I stay for the dry humor. Keep it up, that’s why you’re at a mil and growing.
Congrats on the milestone!
Thanks Matthew!
Congratulations on 100k Tony! You don't look anything like your voice. Great video as always.
ATB, Robin
Thanks Rob! And what does my voice look like? Just curious. :)
You know how you form this vague non descript ghostly mental image of the voice you hear often but have never seen the face. I would know it if I saw it but cant describe it. BTW I notice we have similar hair style ;)
ATB, Robin
I dare say, you looked in my minds' eye like a mottled silver, gray pedagogue. Dismissive to all but the most exemplary of students and yet only appreciative of those whom understood your humor. Now that you have been unmasked your voice (as mine FWIW) does not seem to fit your body. You are nonetheless an auteur. Good work,
It's funny, because I imagined you to look pretty much exactly like this.
you'll always look as gandalf for me
I love that you do have to have some knowlege on so many things to get all his jokes. Like exactly how goddamn absurd it is to hand plane a piece of steel.
This youtube channel is primarily to blame for me pursuing a career in machining. Your humour, wit, and skill is unmatched and we can't wait to see your return to youtube.
Just got back to this video. Needed a reminder of how heart warm the world can be too.
Thank you for that, and thank you for your videos!
lol that clickspring ref
Thank you This Old Tony for the great content! I can't wait to be around for the actual 1 million sub video! Thanks Again
Being such a huge fan of this channel, HOW IN THE WORLD DID I MISS THIS ONE?!?! Tony's so manpretty. Why does he hide his face from us now?? 😁😁😁
I'm digging through the back catalog of of your videos Tony. If I missed this one then surely I've missed a couple more. Thanks for thoroughly entertaining us with the greatest Dad jokes on the interwebs!!!
I love to go back an look at the older vids from time to time!, we need some good ole weekly uploads!
Oh, I about died laughing when you popped on the "100k Subz" knuckle dusters! Watching this channel and drinking water at the same time don't go together lol.
The A-Team reference at the beginning was magical!!!
Great video as always and great to finally see the face behind the voice. Thumbs up!
I had forgotten what a work of art this video IS so I'm so glad Martin reminded me of it. So here I am watching it again for the 12th time and laughing may proverbial ass off. Thanks TOT.
Great video Tony! You were two weeks too late to explain it for my mech engineering class, but you were 100% spot on. Congrats on hitting a 100k
Definitely wasn't expecting a face reveal! Now we need to get AvE to do one. I'm just a creep who really wants to know what ol' Uncle Bumblefuck looks like.
SupaKoopa I never want to see uncle bumblefucks face!
i don't think Uncle Bumblefuck shows his face because of his day job. I don't think he wants to be ousted of his clipboard job.
Didn't he do one briefly in a video? Maybe just the back/top of his head? Red hair, a little on the chunky side, but not fat?
Metatronic Mods he's got a great personality
I think he showed himself in the old "Battle -shots" vidjay-o but he took it down, and re edited it.
I just found this video, and had to scroll the screen down so I could only see your hands. I felt uncomfortable otherwise.
Now the one million subscribers joke is real! Congrats!
So that is you. The first time I watched this video, I thought you had someone stand in for you.
for real!
So Awesome. I can't believe it's taken me a year of watching your videos to stumble across this one. You aren't as old as I thought
0:30 he was correct, he just got confused in his time traveling.
Just love the madness. I think our minds are similar, therefore we are both geniuses! Or its it genii?
And thank you from us all in the UK for the metric translations.
I'm from the UK and use imperial. Just like her Majesty.
Tony you realise there are people out there trying to use their wood planer to create chips on tools steel don't you. Out of 100k subs, that is GOING to happen
School of hard knocks when they do. But as soon as anything is considered idiot proof they just breed to defeat that. :-)
I don't see what the problem is.. that's how I learned. :)
Yep me too.And I don't think your videos are meant for or directed towards the real entry level hobbiest's anyway Tony. If someone did ever try it I sure hope they put a video up showing what they did and expressing how wrong your videos are. You can't buy belly laughs that good. :-)
I just want to know how or who sharpens his planer blades! Nice Chips! lol
Haha jokes on you. I have an electric planer!
Gold!!!
And here we are, you have legitimately surpassed 1 MILLION subz. Best channel on RUclips.
Oh that last bit with the cartoons made me laugh into a coughing fit
“I’m not gonna let this go to my head” 😂 100k subz rings 😂
1 Mi subscribers! Almost there, Tony! And I'm proud to say that I've been here since the beginning (almost)!
This autoplayed while working...Danggg~ Who would have guessed that Tony only need 30k more to reach 1 Million Subs 3 years after this video~ Keep up the good work tony~
Yous at a million now, son!
Wow, 1 billion subscribers!
Hahahah awesome
You got one of those planes Jimmy? haha
thanks buddy!
you gotta be doing something right
On think I noticed since I started building up my hobby machineshop is that the most reason you need a machine generally is to make tools, parts or components for either that machine itself, or one of the other machines you own. Its a never ending circle of awesomeness.
You really got me when you said, "Upside down and backwards". I said, "Oh no!", and smacked my forehead. Nice video TOT, thumbs up.
I would have made it backwards. Even if I checked it twice
