Gday Jocko and the 4WD 24/7 team!
I’ve had my first car for nearly 6 months now, it’s a 1989 Daihatsu Feroza (DX) and you could say the brakes need more than an upgrade after over 30 years of abuse. As whoever drives gets a solid leg workout!
And with the glasshouse just up the road would be awesome be able to stop on those gnarly hills!
If you could please help me out that would be wicked, cheers!!!

Hey Jocko, loving the recent info vids! My husband and I have a GU Patrol that we’ve been slowly modifying, and with the added weight there have been obvious strains on the breaking capacity. Planning to do a cape trip next dry season. Winning these breaks would help us get ready for the big trip!

1993 GQ Patrol, turns braking into an extreme sport in peak hour traffic on the freeway after work. could seriously do with that bendix brake upgrade!! great informative piece jocko showing the reasoning behind the mods, and why. We certainly want more of these with various mods!! Cheers!!

There's a caliper kit + drum to disc conversion a couple outfits are selling for about $2700 just for GQ/GU Patrols - Upgrades the rotor size but you need minimum 17" rims.
Bendix says you need minimum 18" rims for this kit - So price in a set of wheels and tyres if you want to go either way.
Just upgrading your rotors won't change your brake distance, just the fade, and in real world driving your brake fade will probably hit your drums first.
I reckon 18" rims won't give you enough tyre & sidewall unless you've got 35s and they may be hard to come by in a lot of places.

Hey Jocko!! Loving the last couple of info episodes, I’ve got a Holden RG Colorado and would love the brake upgrade for the colorado to make towing our new caravan a breeze before setting out on a trip away! Hey Jocko, Recently purchased a 2014 Colorado and got it serviced, got it serviced last weekend as I was having some electrical trouble and the mechanic found out the rotors on the front end are nearly gone. I could really use this kit as I haven't quite recovered financially from the purchase. Anyway I really hope I am lucky enough to get this kit but good luck to everyone. Cheers Jocko and everyone over at 4WD 24/7, you guys are a bunch of bloody legends!!!

    1999 NL Pajero LWB.
So good to see more and more episodes of Jocko! Especially the more technical episodes! "I Love Getting Data", that's the best!
I drive an older 1999 LWB NL Pajero, and have been slowing kitting it out for off the beaten track trips with my family. Bigger wheels, tyres, beefier suspension, ammo boxes, draw system in the works, front bar, under body protection, fridge etc, all the budget basics I need to get myself and my family out into the bush.
My main reason for wanting this brake upgrade, over and above it being an older, heavy 4WD with some much needed attention for the brakes to bring it up to modern standards, is the safety of my family while on the roads and trails, especially for my 16month old daughter, who we can finally take on adventures with us! You can't put a price on safety, but even with that in mind, I wouldn't be able to afford a big brake upgrade without help anyways. I just want to have safe travels and make memories!

I've got an Navara NP300 that is suffering for brake shudder. I think I might have a slight warped disk, probably from heavy braking when it is fully loaded with gear. Hey all, I've got an old HJZ75 1991 Landcruiser, I have been slowly fixing it up over the last couple of months and a brake upgrade would really be great, with the older Landcruiser models not having any airbags in the vehicle and the standard brakes not being as efficient as they used to be a new set of brakes would help improve the safety of my vehicle when I'm on the road, thanks and good luck to everyone.

I'm driving a Ford PX2 Ranger still with OE brakes. I have already done some of the necessary upgrades to bigger tyres and suspension to be able to tackle my 'driveway'. I'm living at the top of a mountain a couple of hours inland from Byron Bay where the track is already quite gnarly and rutted and with a few water crossings before I even get to the steep mountain climb. The first 20 odd km of black top into town is well known as some of the most pothole riddled road in the region so I need to be on my toes for changing potholes as they can be suspension killers! After seeing this video clearly I need to upgrade my brakes, particularly doing a drum to disc conversion on the rear as I'm crossing water several times every trip out of my driveway!

I was towing our van down the hill to the Northern end of Wyangala the other day and was shocked at how the OEM brakes heated up to the point of smoking, even with electric brakes fitted to the van. We just purchased a 2013 GU Nissan patrol as our 2006 patrol engine blew up 🥺.
We have a little pop top caravan that we use for family holidays and love to travel to all the destinations I’ve seen thanks to you guys
However the new patrol has a few mods like draws and fridge in the rear and steel roof racks amongst other mods but still has standard breaks and it’s something we desperately need to upgrade so we can continue to enjoy our adventures and do it safely.
To have this upgrade would be amazing and able me to have that peace of mind while towing our van that I can stop when needed to in a hurry and that driving on hills the breaks won’t get hot and not work putting my young family in danger.

Great demonstrations of the effectiveness of each upgrade! Did a NSW trip and my 2015 Fortuner had pretty bad fade heading down Dorrigo Mountain - its a manual but even engine breaking on such a long downhill was not enough! I’m due for new front brakes and stepping up from OE would be fantastic for safety especially as my two daughters use it as their main car! At least they can wheel a diesel manual 4wd even if the braking gets a bit scary at times. Keep up the good work.

Hey Guys, great vid around brake options. Was surprised to see the differences from OEM to different aftermarket products. I have a modified Y61 GU Patrol dual cab with a 6.5L Chevy diesel. Have had the GVM upgraded and with the steel tray and canopy, as well as the rest of the accessories on board, you can really notice the lack of stopping power, especially when towing. You’ve got us thinking of a Bendix brake upgrade.

2021 D-Max. On the road all day with the job but is fully kitted out as it is our tow vehichle. Has got a fair bit of weight added so this upgrade from Bendix would make a huge difference. Awesome Vid.

Hi Jocko, I love tech video's like this one and has really convinced me that I want to upgrade my brakes. I have a PX2 Ranger and have been working on improving the performance and handling of it now a brake upgrade would really round out the package.

Hi Jocko love the content. I have a Px2 ford ranger Wildtrak. I will love to have this upgrade because over the 6 years I added so much weight to the vehicle and did many upgrades it's time for the final peace of the puzzle to make my end of year trip safe with my 2 boys and wife.

    Great episode Jocko,
Have the PX2 Ranger myself and yeah the stock brakes are great for street driving going down the shops or running kids around, but have been helping my disabled son build a competition car over the last 12mths as he cant get a Lic due to his special needs. With the car trailer, his car and then all the gear in the back for the day, car load of family buckled in it makes for some interesting experiences, been looking at brake upgrades for awhile but the budget just cant always stretch. Would love to feel safe and know that the family is as well & we don't have to pick and choose the events we enter due to the travelling involved. With the big brake upgrade on the Ranger it would greatly help towards him continuing to enjoy himself behind the wheel of his car, and would only leave ourselves to upgrade the trailer from Hydro to Elec down the road when my funds become avail.
Again great episodes Jocko and all the boys from 24/7 each week ... Cant wait for next weeks adventures !!

    Hey Jocko and crew,
Good video - clearly demonstrated the differences and benefits with the respective upgrades.
We have a 2011 GU with the typical weighty accessories. I have had some scary moments with my previous 2000 GU especially on the dirt roads and eventually wrote it off (technically)on the the black stuff. I have skidded a few times with the latest unit and once touched the rear of a 4 care pile-up that I saw start and finish before I got there but the big girl just wouldn’t pull up. It truly made realize how big , heavy and un-car-like these beasts are. Planning on some serious touring at the end of the year but in the meantime will being using her for city and country driving for work. Pretty keen to see a few tracks in the Vic High Country with my son in (hopefully) his new GU over the coming months also. I have to admit that I did seek out these upgrade kits after the these incidents but there were supply problems for quite sometime so it all went by the way side. For these reasons I have been less inclined to drive it - instead opting (much to my disgust) for our second car - a little Toyota Echo. Would love to have the confidence to use the big girl more, especially with the up coming country driving.

Hey hey, i have a VW Amarok 2014, i have added a bullbar, winch, spotties, roof rack, rock sliders, 2inch lift, ARB canopy, spare battery in the back and also a long range fuel tank, will also be adding a roof top tent and 270 awning. After having these i have noticed it takes longer to stop even when going slow. Definitely in need of new brakes especially before i tackle the Gibb river road next year with the family.
    Cheers for another cracking video

Hey Jocko I have a 2018 Holden Colorado dual cab. I use it for both work and touring so it’s pretty heavy sitting just below GVM. I’m still running the standard brakes with a canopy, bull bar, winch, roof top tent, tools and camping gear. After watching this video I have definitely overlooked the brakes in my rig and could use an upgrade 👍🏻

I have 2017 PX11 Ford Ranger with all the goodies on it, I have been looking at upgrading the brakes for a while but I couldn't afford it, always something taking my money.....Snatch Clothing, 4WD 24/7 shop etc. After the brakes go on, it is going for a GVM upgrade, thanks and keep up the great videos.

Hey Jocko from the states; I have a 1991 Jeep Wrangler Renegade and I'm planning on going a cross country trip here in the states from the east coast to the west coast approximately 6000 km round trip . I'm headed out to Moab, Utah to drive some of the most famous off road trails in the U.S. and the upgraded brakes would be a great upgrade for this old Jeep during the drive and especially the off-roading adventure. Keep up the good work and love your content!

Another cracking vid guys! Awesome bit of gear by the boys at Bendix! Very informative and useful information for all 4x4, towing and tourer lovers!!
I got a 2006 SR Hilux n70 that’s been fully restored from the ground up into a full tourer! Still rocking the original brakes unfortunately and the old pedal does feel alittle soft and the hand brake/rear brakes… well their Bluetooth!
Got a big trip been planned for the cape at the end of the year and the bendix brake upgrade would not only make the rig unstoppable (very stoppable😝) but safe and reliable aswell !
Keep up the good work legends !

We have a 2016 Ford Ranger PX2. Absolutely love this vehicle as we are slowly building it up to lap Australia which has been a dream of ours for many years. Building up our version of the ultimate tourer means adding loads of weight and new brakes would be a dream, allowing us to put what would have been brake money into trip money. Cheers!

I have the 2021 Triton GLX+. The Tritons have smaller stock brakes so I can already feel the difference in stopping, then adding in drawers and a fridge in the back and some camping items and its definitely noticeable. Heading up to Fraser in September so making the rig more reliable and safe for the family is always a plus.

Scared me a few times already and needs an upgrade to make it safer with some big trips planned over the next couple years. But especially as its the daily drive in the burbs, she needs an upgrade. I’ve got a young family and we go on heaps of camping trips with our camper trailer and I have a Mitsubishi triton MR 2019 and we all know the brakes are the smallest on the market and I can definitely feel it. I’m a carpenter aswell so constantly carrying heavy loads. I’ve been wanting to sort some quality brakes but just have t had the spare $$.
This would be class to win and help me feel a lot safer while driving my little family especially.

Got a 2021 plated LDV D90. First 4WD have ever had. So new to this off roading stuff but extremely keen to understand all there is to understand. Life is hard owning a D90 as there is bugger all off road support. Making it hard when I’m trying to learn what is actually needed. Plus, I’m 12 year old daughter also loving getting out there and leaning alone side me.
Be awesome with the upgrade as the wife takes our caravan everywhere with our 2 kids. I’m an interstate truck driver so wife and kids do most of the caravaning by themselves

Hey mate, sweet vid. I've been looking at the bendix brake upgrade for about a year now but didn't believe the stat's they gave would work on a loaded car. This shows perfectly the lumitation in real time and in the real world, cheers. I've got a 2016 ranger that's an every day but also always set up for camping. It's had a GVM upgrade and another leaf added as it's usually at 2,800kg. Me and the family are taking a trip up north WA to Karijini in September and will be rolling at the max 3,500kg. A brake upgrade would definetly give me and the wife some peace of mind. Cheers again

Hey Jocko! I drive a 2012 Ford Ranger for work and play. She’s carrying a bit of extra weight with all the standard off road upgrades, tray, canopy and 12v setup. I tow a loaded tool trailer five days a week and the weekends if I’m not off road I’m towing a 19 foot fibreglass fishing boat. We have a 2016 Ford ranger XLT almost the same set up as shown in the video, and after being in the high country driving through mud and coming down some steep tracks after driving through those muddy tracks and having some tense moments and the brake pedal is being pushed hard, that upgrade would be very useful. Also time saving as we had to wait so long at the bottom to cross a creek crossing as the brakes were so hot we didn't want to go into the almost freezing water and destroy the brake even more. Loving the content.

Joko my guy, so good to see you getting more and more of your own episodes. I have a kun 26, N70 hilux, the very last of the 3L. The family and I have a big trip booked from Cairns heading west to winton, Richomnd, then head back to the coast, stop in Emerald to pick up our meat supplies, stay the night in Rocky and then head to Hervey Bay Kingfisher ferries and head over to K'Gari for 7 nights then back home to Cairns. Finding it hard to spend the right amount of money on the rig. We need so much more but breaks would be a great start. Either way keep up the great work, may the force be with you! ;)
