- The world of Breath of the Wild is filled with unknowns - there's such a huge variety of game hidden mechanics present that the exact details behind them can be hard to follow. After spending last few months trying to break these major elements of this game apart to share with you all (as a part of my Stats of the Wild series), I decided that this video would be composed solely out of the miscellaneous questions you guys have asked me directly to solve!! All of the topics in this video are much more bite sized than what I usually go over, so I hope you find the wide variety of info helpful!! :D

Blood moon also can’t spawn in the castle from my experience. You can see it trying but it never happens.
There's a couple unique areas that block them from happening - shrines are just the most convenient of them 😄
@@Croton yes like Devine beasts
@Lucas Jean yeah try to put 5 kilton essences and you will see
It's like Mythbusters...but ZELDA!
You should do a series of that, because I want to see it now.
I have come to revive the show 😎
Oh would you look at that NBC is finally nice for once!
Lol
Hi funny man from discord
Here’s my question: How is the weather cycle generated in different areas of Hyrule? All I know is that some areas have the same weather for several in-game days while some others change every few hours.
Thats a good one, I haven't really payed attention to that!! Mainly cause I play with the pro hud so I never see the weather patterns...but it would be cool to look into!! :D
Yeah, that’s right, for example in the Thundera Plateau’s shrine where the weather is constantly thundering until you complete the shrine. However, even though I have completed all 120 shrines, some areas still have a nearly constant weather.
Or if you need to climb, then it just starts raining.
It seems to me like the game has different weather seasons. Sometimes in the same area I keeps raining frequently and then it is sunny
@Jake Sangria I would have given that Power to the Zora Pants since they don't have any unique ability (Helmet allows you to attack in water, Chest piece allows you to swim up waterfalls, pants do nothing)
So this is what a PHD in botw would be
I say any player who kills the white lynel on the plateu on master mode before leaving should immediately be given a masters in gaming.
@@doughboidays3039 it wrecked me sooo hard ..lol and this was after getting amazing gear. I got it done , after like one hour of trying lol. I’ll stick to gold lynel farming for now.
@@abhiss6705 are you being sarcastic, cause white lynels are WEAKER than gold lynels lol
@@theagent4204 oops sorry , I meant the opposite. Lol my bad 🤦♀️
@@abhiss6705 lol
I would also like to note the "Panic Blood Moon" so named by speedrunners for why it happens: the game's memory is being overloaded with how many respawning things have been moved/killed/flagged, and forcibly triggers a Blood Moon to clear it, even rushing the game clock to make it happen if the memory is really stressed. This can be an issue in some of the longer speedrun categories as a time loss, as they can fling themselves across the overworld and load a lot of flags.
The fact that using fire attacks against a frozen enemy does absolutely nothing extra is baffling to me
Buttt you can freeze, stasis and then fire a barrage of shock arrows for hella damage
It one shots them
@@marthlikinte5607 Bruh how tf did I not know this? Thanks.
@@marthlikinte5607 I have more simple and quite devastating : if you have an electric weapon, you can hit frozen enemies with it and it will have the "wet" aoe effect, thus also hitting mobs nearby with shock damage.
To be fair, you're shattering the enemy rather than thawing them. Doesn't seem likely that they'll get much hurty from the super hot weapon before getting completely slammed away by them.
Still, it would've made sense as videogame logic
For the first one, there are also panic Blood Moons which don’t follow that system. They aren’t linked to enemy kills, but storage space.
You also will not get a blood moon if you are fighting/onboard a Divine Beast, or in Hyrule Castle.
See that's what I thought all of them were. I thought it was, the game only has a finite memory space so when you alter it enough (kill enemies, cut trees down, break crates etc.) that it can't remember it all it automatically does a blood moon to reset it all the next night. Which is I think what youre saying, but I didn't know there was a timer I just thought that was the only way to get a blood moon
Questions paraphrased for easier finding, in case anyone comes back to this video looking for a specific answer

Here’s my question: how does the wind or breeze affect how fast you go when you are paragliding or on a raft? If the wind were going against you how much would it slow you down and vise versa.
Ooh that's a good one!! Would be hard to calculate but I can look into it!!
@@Croton what did u find
Hidden stats in the game are well, hidden so I appreciate you making this series.
Glad I could help then!! :D

Question: How often does link slip when climbing in rain?
1.5 to 4.5 seconds randomly and i think every time you jump so climb a second or 2 then jump to move optimally
With the climbing gear it's after Link takes 8 steps so I jump on every 7th.
3:01 - Seeing Link get hit by that Moblin and then promptly *smashing* his skull open on the floor below one-hit KO'd me too 😭😬
Yeah.... Me to..... 😰
Finally, the video I've been needing
Happy to hear it!! :)
thank you so much for this series; because of the ones you've made so far I felt more confident trying to tackle Master Mode. Knowing about the xp system, shield system and stackable boosts and effective cooking methods let me gauge easily how to tackle problems in this harder mode, especially since I'm not great at fighting. I can get by and take down anything in the game but it's not natural instinct for me on how to move and attack. Having an understanding of how all this works internally did wonders for my confidence and I'm happily breezing through Master Mode during quarantine. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
I was the same way playing this off the start. The way i got better was playing more. You get to realize timings and predict enemies better, and it’s honestly really satisfying when you fight this way!
@@cindin3802 Agreed entirely! I've restarted the game several times since this comment and each time I apply a new challenge to help me stay creative in travel and combat. I went from my very first playthrough on the Wii U running like mad, avoiding conflicts with enemies and generally getting nowhere in the game to taking on lynels with 10 hearts or less, beating master mode and the master trials all thanks to these videos and practice. Can't wait for the sequel!
I needed that info on the blood moon, thanks croton.
No problem, I'm happy to help!! 😄
But I once got a blood moon during daytime in hateno village, don’t know what happened there
That happens sometimes, its like an emergency ram dump or something to reset things, not sure if its true or not.
@@mikeguo608 that's a panic blood moon. When the game hits a certain amount of memory (I think I've seen 90%) a panic blood moon will occur as soon as that threshold is reached to refresh the game.
Im genuinely so happy to have subscribed to your channel. Your content is beyond great to watch
I'm so glad you enjoy it, thank you!! 😄
It’s the explanation in insults guy
These videos are great man. They’re edited and researched so well. botw is one of favourite games and your my go to source. You deserve more subs
I'm glad that you enjoy the game that much - happy to hear that my videos help you understand it better!! Thank you 😄
Yes you do deserve more subs
Ok one quick note for the master cycle please read. For filling to fuel tank the MOST EFFECTIVE item is monster extract which can be bought from the monster shop owner, Kilton using 4 of them will completely fill the tank. Use this they are cheap but you have to wait for him to get more
You actually only have to use one and the scaling still continue
I think ancient cores insta refuel
I am craving for part 2 right now. You are totally awesome (and crazy) for doing all this testing!
Well I'm just glad it all payed off 😅 Thank you!! :D
What about the Phrenic bow? That thing has crazy zoom
Zoom is proportional to range, and the phrenic bow has one of the highest. Bows like the ancient bow and ravali's are also high range too I'm pretty sure
Both scoped bows (Phrenic and Golden) have 40 range, and aren't very different from the others in that manner 😅
I find that the Phrenic and Golden bows both have better range that most bows, Rito bows also have better range than, say, the Royal bow, and the ancient bow has barely any arrow drop. Then you have the Bow of Twilight, which is a sniper rifle disguised as a bow.
This game, I swear. Even now, the more I learn about it, the more I love this game. The amount of detail and depth is just staggering, honestly. Learning about all these stats and facts is fun.
I personally would like to see a part 2 to this, Croton. I also have a question for you. When using bomb arrows with the duplex bow, do the two shots count as though they were single arrows in terms of damage or are they nerfed like with the multishot bows?
tysm for answering my question. i did not expext this kinda video
No problem!! 😄
which question did you have?
Thanks for all these stat videos. I love this game and love learning about all these hidden stats. I hope you do another one of these misc. Videos. Great work and thank you for your time.

I would love to see a second video like this. I also have a question, do the champions weapons (great eagle bow, daybreaker shield, light scale trident, etc...) have any special traits?
As far as I know they don't, but I've also never looked into it..🤔
Well the great eagle aparence twice in the video, have one of the best reaches, and have the most fastest fire rate and if i remember have +3 multishot, and have decent damage for early/middle game
Don't think that they do. Except only the ceremonial trident can unearth a hidden shrine.
roberto alexander mendez moreno I know, that is why I am curious about the rest
Many of them has high durability. The sun breaker has I think the 2nd best durability for a shield after the hylian shield.

Some materials such as Monster Extract work as Multiplayers, you only need two Monster Extracts and you can use 3 apples or something else, to fuel the rest of the tank.
(Or something like that😂)
Did you already know this?
Monster extract has random effects
Yeah, it's Fairies and Monster Extract for me.
@@topsyturvy1097 Not when you're filling up the Master Cycle. It doubles the effect of your fuel. 4 apples plus 1 monster extract = 80% of your tank filled.
Just wanted to say, you’re my favorite youtuber!
Your themed runs are fun to watch and make me laugh, your deep dives are very interesting, and overall, your channel is amazing!
The best part of this game are the little details spread throughout. There are seemingly an infinite amount of discoveries within this Hyrule. There's so much passion from the designers put into this game. Great work in helping uncover some of Hyrule's many, MANY mysteries!
Thank you Croton! The amount of time and work you put in you stat projects are very impressive. Thank you for making BotW as efficient as possible!
My pleasure! Happy you enjoy the vids :D
(sorry for the late reply!! just saw this now lol)
Question: how many points of damage does lightning from weather do?
love this page, would love a part two!
5:39 You freezed him at the perfect moment lol
Would love to see you expand the horse stats video with some of the other rideable creatures, even if they are only for certain areas.
Dude thank you so much for doing this! I have been confused by everything stats related until you came along and i hade it since day 1! You sir have earned yourself my subscription! P.s. which non amiibo weapons and bows have the highest durabilities? I have been curious 🤔 and i did notice that a lot of lists missed some gear
I like to check the Zelda wiki for all BotW weapon durabilities. Here's the bow page, expand the "Location and Uses" header to see the full BotW list: zelda.gamepedia.com/Bow
@@mljh11 thanks for letting me know about the wiki. :) i did have to search for weapon durability but it helped. Fun fact: the awakened master sword still only has a (normal) max of 40 durability but goes down by decimals instead :). Now i just need to see wether there is a weapon with durability up + that has more durability than the spring hammer.
Thanks again!
Welcome :D
Thanks so much for all these videos because I got botw in July and it is my first zelda game ever so your videos have been really helpful for my first playthrough
These stat videos are really interesting. Thanks for putting in the work.
1:44 LOL I DO THAT EVERY TIME
I noticed one of the comments featured at the start, and it caught my eye. What **does** rock salt do to food?
good question! i hope he answers this
@@emmasong9035 Thanks, so do I.
Pretty sure he covered that in his cooking video. (I think it adds a certain duration to the effects of food? There are other foods that do the same, with different times added- again, he covered it all in the cooking video)
@@burg3rdud33 I looked through the video, didn't talk about salt, just buffs and crits
@@bluehax6 ruclips.net/video/QAN-f7j82gQ/видео.html - Rock Salt is one of the ingredients that just adds duration to the effects (rock salt in particular adds 1:00) and I think it adds hearts to other foods but I'm not sure
crazy good video ! thanks a lot for all these useful answers ! i'd love a part 2 !
Dude I love this channel. I just got my first switch like a month ago and obviously the first game I bought was zelda botw. Without your very in depth and comprehensive explanation of this world and its mechanics. I would have eventually figured out most of it but it would have been a minute. Your content is very enjoyable and fun, and in a way it challenges me to try and achieve things I never would have considered otherwise. Therefore not only have you helped me traverse this amazing and beautiful world, but you have extended the quality of life overall for the game and definitely did your part to make it more enjoyable. Botw has been my favorite game since it came first released, and I've always wondered about drop rates. I tried testing for myself once, but I got bored eventually and just gave up. I couldn't find much info on the internet though, so does anyone here have a clue?
By the way, love your videos my guy! Never seen someone so devoted to a single game! Keep it up!!!
Thanks for the info. I would definitely like to see part 2
Good luck on getting 40k very soon 👍 Who knows, it’s might be after an hour or two after this video’s release
Very well could be!! :O thank you!! 😊

Also I'd love to see another one of these mythbuster videos since basically all of the mechanics in botw are hidden
Yess Croton please make a part 2!! :)
Not sure if croton will see this, but this is literally my favorite series on RUclips
I'm so glad that you enjoy it!! Thank you 😄
i’m curious about the damage outputs of charged stamina attacks. for example does charging a sword increase the damage output when it hits an enemy? or maybe just the spin range? and how much damage does the shock wave that a two handed weapon do when charged up at different charges?
nice video! a part two sounds like a great idea! one problem though, you misspelled "Ancient" as "Anicent" at 10:00

Great video my only question is, how often do Yiga clan members appear? Is like every certain number of minutes or do they appear In specific locations?
Specific locations, I think
Hey croton! Love your videos! I frequently speedrun this game, but still don't know some stuff about it so your videos are very helpful. Here's my question: I heard somewhere that different sheilds have different friction values that can change how effective you can get skew values. Is this true?
Blood Moons also cannot occur if you are in Hyrule Castle.
Also, it seems that Monster Extract amplifies the effect of any materials you use to fuel the Master Cycle Zero.
If you use a chicken instead of the paraglider how does that exactly affect stamina and speed?
As far as I know the only difference is that the first second or so of the glide won’t consume any stamina at all
8:03 does that mean my MasterCycle won't consume fuel if I press the gas button often enough?
Yes, but it halts very quickly if you don't have the button pressed unfortunately
I mean you can just let it roll down hills to save on materials, but I'm drowning in guardian parts and apples by that point in the game, so might as well go full speed!
I have major respect for your content because sometimes it’s an explanation and sometimes it’s gameplay
@croton, could you make another video like the cooking guide you did last time but than with elixers? It was very helpfull last time. Keep up the good work. ;)
also hitting a bundle of wood with a fire weapon to create a fire uses no durability
I would love to see a part 2! I really enjoyed this video!
I learned a lot and had fun watching. I really appreciate the info on the bow ranges because I've held onto Phrenic bows because it says they great at distance shots. Now I know I can toss them for better bows.
Thanks for explaining the health regeneration on Master Mode, I was curious about that.
Holy shit..... knowing that you lose no weapon durability on the switches helps SO MUCH
Ikr, I always have a suck weapon just to use it to hit the switches
An Huỳnh saaaame i normally would just get nervous and start using bombs
@@elderberryva9282 Oh wait yeah, those exist

Lol, I read this right as you popped up
On the note of master cycle zero fuel consumption, try using 3 monster extracts and 1 weak material. the monster extract boosts the effect of any material exponentially, not just itself. I would suggest stocking up on monster extract from kilton using cheap monster parts and just using that, since its cheaper in the long run.
Exellent video, it's realy clear !
One time I gave it a rusty shield and it spat out flint.
I was very disappointed.
Can someone tell me what the maximum shield guard up buff is for the hylian shield? Highest I've had is 144
The max bonus is 54, so the total stat is 90+54=144. Congrats, you got the most powerful shield ☺️

Thank you Gavio!! :D
I've actually been kind of curious whether the spin and jump attacks do more damage than normal? Anyway, good video! It's been fun learning about all these hidden and obscure mechanics.
Spins do the same damage per hit without the critical hith modifier with it the 4th hit in a spin will be 2x dmg spins also take 1 durability every hits.
Jump attack give 2x dmg but also takes 2x durability

What are the chances of monster extract helping your dish when you cook?
(When I put 4 high level ingredients it always maxes the duration for me
E. G. 4 Lotus Speed things + 1 monster extract = 30 mins speed up lvl III)
Maybe some of the calories is lost in the water that is used to prepare the food eg. When you boil a potato you tend to lose some of the calories in it.
Hence the duration is a bit reduced
My idea is so dumb

Ayy no problem!! 😄😄
Hell yeah I want a part 2 of this
3% every 1.5 seconds seems like a needlessly complicated way of saying 2% every second.
It’s not a constant rate of damage, they literally heal 3% of damage every 1.5 seconds.
I would like to see a part two, so I'm letting you know in the comments.
I would _love_ to see a part 2.
PLEASE KEEP THIS SERIES UP I LOVE ZELDA MYTHBUSTERS
also, do movement buffs affect paragliding?
10:05 that is incorrect:the ancient bow has a range of 50,the bow of light has 500 and the twilight bow has 8000 which is the most range a bow has in this game.
You can thank me later! :)
Although its believed to be 50, the datamine has accurate stats on it being 40 with the altered gravity stat - its even in the official guidebook as 40 as well!!
I would love a Part 2; please make one.
That sneak attack at 9:14 was... kinda spicy ngl Edit: Yeah, keep making these! I enjoy them, even if I rarely play BotW anymore. Super excited for BotW 2 though!!!
I love confusing the enemies with those haha - glad you enjoyed it tho!! 😄
Ad. Q1 - there is also a thing called Panic Blood Moon where game panics for one reason or another and spawns one to reset itself to default state and free up memory. I had one of those randomly mid casual playthrough recently, it actually looks pretty cool when it suddenly rises in broad daylight.
Ad. Q2 - I always get glow on Satori Mountain right after I get paraglider and leave Plateau. Wonder if it's just me being very consistent with time taken on tutorial or if it's set up to happen by the game.
FYI, when looking at Reddit every monster extract in the cycle fuel doubled the gas, e.g. 1 apple and 4 MEs is 10%*2^4=160% or fills it up in one shot.
What is the rate of burning things like grass or trees?
And what about arrows and items?
I needed to do the Akkala(sp) blue flame but didn't have a torch.
I did have a korok leaf which didn't burn out for it.
Does not holding it and putting the fire out stop damage loss? I did every lamp when bringing it up so that may be why it lasted so long.
What about using bombs on things like crates? How many apples, arrows, acorns, and alliteration will you get?
When I clear a camp I always bomb the crates, both metal and wood, to get free arrows.
When I didn't record what items were in the shrines and had an extra slot for a weapon or something I teleported to each shrine, went into it, opened the chest, found out it wasn't what I had room for, exited the shrine, and went to another shrine.
Repeat maybe 10 times; I saw the loading screen quite a bit.
Eventually I got to the Forgotten Temple shrine but twice when I exited the shrine I got a panic blood moon.
Possibly all that loading and opening and teleporting overloaded the Switch memory.
When someone was shield surfing throughout Hyrule a panic moon happened as well.
Cutting down trees and picking up rocks galore might cause one as well.
Great video, as are your others.
As of now, 16 moblins and one malice eye voted it down.
👌 This is the type of lore that is truly entertaining.
this helped me a lot and mostly with what to refill the master cycle with i had been using chu chu jelly for so long
I would love a part 2!
