He isn't confused he knows exactly who she is, the character has been around for 14 years doing numours specials for Comic Relief etc even did 1 of her characters with the Prime Minister.
Maybe because it was completely cringe-worthy watching a middle-aged woman, trying to live on past glories (which were never very funny to begin with) do a naff skit. I felt his pain. It was so so cringeworthy. The funniest thing she could think of was a poo... I don't want to say joke, because it wasn't a joke. It was literally a story about someone poo'ing themselves. How was that even funny. It was just weird and unintentionally embarrassing.
They should've done this when Tom Cruise was on the show. He didn't really get the whole "Nan" thing when he was on the show with Katherine Tate. He laughed, because she's funny...but he didn't really get it.
Totally get that. It was particularly strong in this case. If I'd have watched this in a top floor building I would've thrown myself off and took my chances. Would've been over quicker and likely less painful ha ha!
This is a 14 year old character, which the audience already know and understand, it would be like Mike Myers coming on as Austin Powers, you know what to expect before he's even started talking.
If you look at Olivia quickly when nan walks in you can here her go “oh” and see the expression on her face. She recognises nan or at least Catherine taint (likely both)
Omg The people saying this is a character actor appearing on the show. All this time I thought they meant Catherine Tate, but they actually think this is a method actor Lmao
Yes, indeed, from the US version of The Office. Just one of her many crimes against comedy. She didn't sink that particular ship but she helped paddle it towards the iceberg faster.
All boring in the sofa except Olivia the rest pfff 😪 that Rita no sense of humour! I would be rolling on the floor hahah Nun is my fave! She is hilarious ❤❤❤
But you do understand that the character of Nan has been around for 14 years, so she doesn't have to do much for U.K. audiences to laugh as people know and understand the motive of the character.
@ Lisa M I'm from Northern Ireland, have previously watched the Catherine Tate show (well, tried to) and normally love quintessential British humour, but I totally agree, this was so cringe-worthy. It wasn't even a joke, it was an middle-aged woman dressed up as an old woman telling a made up story about defecating in public. It was closer to watching someone with a mental health problem trying to get attention and was about as funny as forest fire. You could also tell some of the guests (like Nic) were uncomfortable and embarrassed to be watching Tate too.
Rita Ora had one of two acceptable responses to this. The other being shooting Tate with a tranquilliser gun to get her to stop. It was train wreck TV.
It wasn't just that, it was so unfunny it crossed over in to some awful realm of embarrassment that will take me a long long time to recover from. Whoever thought this was a good idea should do prison time.
Now the producers have taken full control of the show Graham has become a successful writer and producer in his own right its only a matter of time before he ends the show for higher ground.
@@gordygibson4558 You do know Graham owns the production company that makes the show, which he also produces and has done since it was on Channel 4 when it was a lot ruder than this and still managed to get big U.S. and U.K. stars. So when you say producers are running the show, you mean him.
Cringe. The Little Britain/Catherine Tate era was a low point in British comedy. Just a bit desperate going though hours of SFX for a cheap laugh at something only vaguely amusing in the first place 🤢
Some of Little Britain and some of Catherine Tate is funny. But don't get me started on that awful "comedy" show The League of Gentlemen. It literally made me feel sick.
@Erica Borland It was the kind of thing they rightly mocked on Extras at the time.If it wasn't funny 15 odd years ago it's not going to be funny now. No idea how the Graham Norton production team thought this would be a good idea.
Same, I'm from the UK and found it unwatchable. It was so cringe-inducing. Tate was never funny to begin with, and there's something pathetic and sad about watching a middle aged woman try and wheel out characters she did 15 odd years ago (which weren't even funny back then) just to get some attention. Here, she was telling a story about someone who humiliated themselves in public without realising it. There's an irony to that.
She might be nice but I really don't get the fuss around Catherine Tate. Especially there... Cringey. But I guess I needed to see some of her stuffs from before to understand what was going on there.
It's the walk, the hand gestures, waving the hanky... Catherine's acting skills are sublime.
I love Nan
"What's your name. Bev. Bev. Oh f*ck that" and pulls lever 😂
Woah. That makeup. I had to double check that it was actually her and not really her Nan. That makeup artist is on point.
It’s absolutely no different to what you’ve seen on her tv show and other interviews?!
🤨
that makeup is PRO!
For real tho I hope the artists are working for Hollywood
I would love for Catherine Tate and Olivia Colman to do sketch together. They’d be brilliant!!!
Yes!!!!!
I wish we could see more of Catherine on the telly nowadays
She has me in tears and not really seen her much.

Catherine Tate. What a gem. 😂

Well, she got to be on television? ;)

Olivia Coleman is so down to earth and is enjoying sitting next to Nan. The others on the couch or either embarrassed or not amused 😂😂😂
