      The irony is my dad's in a care home and the people who come along to do these kind of sing-a-long things do the same songs and time period now - 4 decades after Tate did it. As though my dad fought in WW2 and remembers it all or visited music halls. They seem to have forgotten that, by the time I get to a care home what will be 'old time songs' will be the music of the 70s and 80s, not Vera Lynn or music hall songs from the time of the sinking of the titanic.

    Something I love about Tom is that as much as he’s a good storyteller in his own right, he’s equally as fascinated by other’s stories. He is known to be a massive fan of film and he brings that passion to his work, but I believe he gets that passion because he loves stories, and stories come from people. He becomes an instant fan when listening to others and it’s clear here by the way he listens to and looks at her

    • @skontheroad
      @skontheroad 3 года назад +7

      So.... he actually really enjoyed listening to Matt Lauer's story and his point of view? I did not see him becoming an instant fan of anything during that interview. And certainly not of the strides the medical field has made in diagnosing and treating mental illnesses over the years. I have always found the common theme with him to be "it's my way or the highway", and as long as you agree with everything he says and does, everyone gets along just fine! And just in case, let's put it all in an NDA, so there are no surprises or misunderstandings down the road. Then it is Team Tom all the way! (Until you are legally released from your contract that is!)

    She hasn't even got to Nan and the audience and guests are laughing.
    The first words from Nan and everyone erupts.
    We all know a Nan, my friend when I grew up had one. She had 10 kids and dozens of grand children. I was round my friends house one day, Nan was there, I was talking and his Nan pointed at me as asked someone, "Is he one of mine?"

    I love her Gran character because one side of my family were all real cockneys, i.e. born within the sound of the Bow Bells. As a young kid I was always meeting old ladies and old men who were just like that. I think my grandad had about 12 sisters and they were all named after flowers - so there was Auntie Rose, Violet, Daisy, Ivy and so on. There was a huge wedding back in the 60s and it was hilarious to see everyone looking at everyone else because they didn't know which knife or fork or spoon to use. Plenty of Gawd Blimeys and Bleedin Ells to be heard that day.

    Catherine Tate's real surname is Ford but she changed it after drama school in homage to the sugar refiner Henry Tate, not the art gallery as many still believe. Her favourite childhood treat was sugar sandwiches and Catherine always remembers the little Tate & Lyle bags with a tub of Stork margarine on the kitchen table. "Catherine Tate sounded classier than Catherine Stork," she reportedly told Wotcha magazine.
