Hi Anet - thanks for your message. So glad you had an opportunity to enjoy Naples last week and during the winter. If you'd like to connect to talk about your future plans, I'm here to assist! Feel free to contact me by phone, text or email - my contact information is in the video description. I hope I can be of service. Regards, Terri
Hi @Anet - are you still thinking about moving to Naples from NJ (that's where I was from, way back, too!) Let me know if I can be of assistance to you & your husband with an online search & here in SW FL if you visit or return for work trips - so you can look for areas that you like! We're here to help -
Technically, Naples (and Ft Myers,, and Miami-Ft Lauderdale down to key West) are in a tropical climate zone (moderate heat, less cold in winter). Orlando, Tampa are "sub-tropical" so experience a bit more of the weather you might experience in much of the rest of the Southeast US (heat extremes in summer, cold snaps in winter).
We definitely experience different weather than central Florida and northern Florida. We love living below the 'frost line' here in SW Florida, and we appreciate the lovely breezes and temperature moderating effects of living near the Gulf of Mexico! Thanks for sharing your comment - appreciate it!
Good morning Rich and Terri and my compliments on this video. Your story is much like ours. I've been a full time Realtor for 40 plus years in KY and over the last several years whenever we traveled we've looked at those trips both as a fun experience and also as a potential place to spend our life. Like you we've decided on the SWFL coast and are headed your way soon to live full time. Hopefully our paths will cross either socially, professionally, or both. Have a super weekend.
Hi Alan - thanks for sharing your story & your plan to head to SWFL! If we can be of assistance in your home search here, please let me know! Contact info in video description. Have an amazing day!
I love florida. I stayed in orlando in and out of 9 hotels in 9 weeks. Spent 28k in 9 weeks for family of 4 with a budget of 500 per day at 125 per person. Now that im back in buffalo im missing florida. Florida has a potential that noone wants to exploit.
Best things about naples, port royal has open house party's every weekend, beach stickers not needed park anywhere, free drinks on 5th Ave between 5 to 8, if your from Miami leave trash on beach we will clean it and best of all no traffic. No fishing poles needed the fish just lay on the beach for the picking. Oh and every child gets a participation ribbon, no winners aloud
Check out Del Webb Naples, which is In Ave Maria, Florida, for those 55 or older or Other options within Ave Maria for those with families. Beautiful community and you won’t be disappointed.
Great video on your move to Naples, Florida. It was good to hear about your experience on where you grow up and how you made the decision on where to retire. I think we all have to make these decisions at one point in our lives and it is important. Good decision making on selling personal before you move to avoid high cost of expense. Cheers to good living.
Firstly, that camera is wonderful quality - what camera are you using? Secondly, we love Naples and love the wonderful information in this video. I wondered about summer because we haven’t yet visited during summertime but intend to.
Hi Gaby, Definitely check out Naples throughout different times of the year! Being in this area, we're fortunate to live nearby the gulf, which provides an opportunity to spend time near the water and also has an impact on our weather compared to inland and some places further north.
Hi Bozena - let's connect and talk about what you're looking for. I can review options with you including some nice 55+ active communities in our area. You can text or email me (my contact info is in this video description)- let's talk soon and set up a plan for you to look for homes!

Interesting video. Thanks. We are building a new home in Naples (1st new construction) and have to laugh a little because my wife and I are now struggling with decisions about what furniture to bring with us and what to leave behind. We think we are saving money by bringing most of it, but we have also heard from at least 2 others that we should just sell or donate it. Also, we are installing a pool. We wanted to add a spa initially, but thought it was warm enough in Naples so we excluded it to save money. Hope we don’t regret it. Please share any other insights. It’s greatly appreciated! 👍
Robert, congratulations on your move and new home. That sounds exciting! It's a judgment call about bringing furniture. Sometimes it works out fine. Other times, the textures and styles that someone likes elsewhere doesn't seem to fit a new lifestyle in SW Florida. Or, room dimensions are different and some furniture doesn't fit like we all thought it would! It may help to have some furniture with you to get started, perhaps change some out over time - nice on the budget! Good luck! We'll be posting more videos and other insights about living here - stay tuned! Hope you're enjoy future videos, too
We have been to Naples visiting family and actually going back in July taking our grand kids. Naples is beautiful, but here is the catch for us. Our two children live 15 minutes from us and we see our grandchildren quite often. So if seeing my kids and grandkids vs. moving to Naples. Naples looses by a long shot. Oh well! That's just us. Everyone is different. Would we love to get out of LI NY. YES!!! Best to both of you and thanks for sharing your story.
Thanks so much for the feedback and for sharing your story, too. Family rules! My only other thought is that many people report they see MORE of their kid & grandkids after they move to SW Florida, as it's the perfect place where your family wants to visit! They are often so busy at home that grandparents sometimes still wish they could see the kids more before they grow up too fast. If you decide that Naples or SW Florida is an option for you - please DM or call/text me. I'm happy to help! Have a terrific week -
Loved your video. You guys are awesome. My wife and I live in Quebec and have spent a couple of months in North Naples for the past two winters. Missed out this winter due to covid. Looking forward to going back in 22. Would love to have a place in Naples one day. My wife is a U.S. citizen so that would make the move easier. Only one big drawback, our 2 year old grandson whom grandma is totally in love with.
Hi Adam - there are often more of a range of choices and prices across the Naples area and all of SW FL than people realize. Certainly the cost to live somewhere new is an important consideration. If there is any custom research I can do for you to help you decide, let me know! Have a terrific summer!
Great video! Lots of good things to think about! Like the furniture consideration. We like woods and we don't like alligators. We thought about moving to Florida, but we've been to Hilton Head several times and we never felt comfortable walking near lagoons because there are things in there that would like to eat us. You can't fall asleep on a chaise recliner in your back yard if your house backs to a lagoon without a lanai. That's too restrictive for us. Now we're thinking of retiring to a wooded homesite near Williamsburg, VA and driving to Naples and renting a house in January and February, to avoid the hassles of dual home ownership. We've seen where we can rent a nice furnished condo (like a duplex up north) for $6000 a month, which is nothing compared to trips we've taken to Puerto Rico for $5000 a week or cruises we've taken for $9000 a week. $6000 a month is so much more doable! We may change our minds, but for now, I think that's our plan. If you're still in the game in 6 more years, we'll look you up for a rental if realtors do that in Florida. And we'll subscribe so we keep you in our consciousness.
@@josephminer8863 probably usually, but then there are also the people who reached into the lagoon to retrieve their goft ball and lose their arm. Been a couple of those that I can recall.
Hi Jeffrey - a lot of people here include lanai (screen) cages outside the back of their homes - over a patio or a pool. That provides some privacy and keeps some 'visitors' out who you don't want right up near your home. I keep thinking there is wildlife about anywhere we live in the world! There are lots of ways to feel safe in Florida - if you are considering a move here, let's talk about it! DM me - contact info in the description.
Thanks for your feedback, Jeffrey! We hope to see you heading to FL in a few more years. In the meantime, Williamsbury VA is one of my favorite areas - I hope you find your retirement spot and really enjoy it - sounds terrific!

Hi, I'm from California, and looking to move, but not immediately, we are coming to Miami in November around Thanksgiving ,and planning to visit Naples to have an idea, do you think you'll have to meet and talk about Real state ?
Hello. Loved the video! We are looking to move to FL. I have been looking into different area's, Could you tell me how Sarasota and Naples differ for a family of 4 with 2 boy's 7 and 11? I am looking at a safe place with good schools that's affordable. Sarasota stood out to me by looking online but I also wanted to check out Naples. We come down for vacation in 2 weeks to Clearwater so we were going to look at the area's.
Hi @Samantha Keffer - how was your vacation? Did you have any success thinking more about Sarasota and Naples areas? Both have a lot to offer - there are websites that can help you assess school options, and after that, it's a lot about looking at communities and locations that fit your family's lifestyle. You may find the best answer for you in the Sarasota area or in SW Florida - Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, Babcock Ranch, Ft. Myers, etc. Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you & your family as you continue your home search! Regards, Terri
