Leftists democrat voters, especially if from California, ARE NOT WELCOME. We Floridians see them like an evil zombie hoard attacking our well run, Conservative, and beautiful state. If you're a Republican escaping from a "blue" state, you're welcome. If you're a democrat, f-off and go somewhere else.
I moved out of Florida in the "90's. Hopefully the refugees will vote for solid leadership with strong fiscal responsibility, family values and never vote for anyone who supports baby killing: abortions.
I lived in Southern California for 50 years of my life. Southern California, Santa Clarita/Stevenson Ranch area. My last apartment was $2,000 a month, two bedroom, two bath in a luxury building. My view from my widow was a parking lot. I moved to Clearwater Florida in 2016, sight unseen. Bought my home from a Realtor on the internet. I was terrified not knowing if I had made the right decision, but due to a family circumstance, I had to move. I am absolutely in love with my location and home. I live in a residential area, everything is close including a huge mall, Countryside Mall. The beaches are fantastic, lots of restaurants, nice homes. I pay less than $1,000 for my mortgage, for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, my equity has doubled since I bought this house in 2016. I feel so safe, no gangs, no drama, we are raising my five year old grandson, his school is amazing and it's a public school. It's just beautiful peaceful living. California is not what it was back in the day. By the 2000's the gangs had taken over the San Fernando Valley, it was hidious to drive through. My entire family has followed me here, my sister has bought her beautiful home, my 30 year old daughter an 35 year old son also moved, they feel like they live in paradise and we are away from all the latino drama. I am also latina (Cuban decent), but I don't want gangs and drama where I live, I just couldn't do it anymore. If you are thinking about the Tampa Bay area, look at Clearwater, Safety Harbor and Dunedin, it's really gorgeous, people are so nice and you won't regret it.

The Latino Culture in Florida is VERY different than that in Southern California. Night and Day. Even in Miami.
We left Highland Park/Eagle Rock Ca. back in 2004 for the same reasons. Too much gang activity. I'm in Saint Cloud next to Orlando. i would love to move to your side but my husbands job is out here so I'm a bit stuck within an hour commute radius. I have another Cali friend who bought in Dunedin Fl and she and her family are loving it!
I reside in a large condo in Largo thats right on a golf course which is awesome. Largo is very centrally located which is nice. Its a 10 minute drive (tops) to Indian Rocks Beach which is a big plus also.
Defected from Californica in '04.......For the record, DO NOT MOVE TO Bradenton!!.....We're full.....Y'all won't like it here....Very conservative...Blue collar..Old Florida.....High end housing and highrise condos in Sarasota/Tampa....Move there.....
Thanks for choosing a couple who is so respectful of both CA and Florida. Honest, but very nice assessment of both states. Thanks for making it simply about the positives of moving to Florida and not about anything else.

If a person is moving to Florida right now, you are about to be blessed. I’m getting ready to be there in a month and my head is aimed straight ahead. I hope everyone’s dreams come true, I know mine is!! Great video!
Just don't bring your politics to Florida! We love our Republican Governor and do not want any nasty corrupt democrat to EVER run our BEAUTIFUL state!!!!
Welcome....moved here from California too... love the weather... Florida is beautiful and the standard of living is better than California. And despite people warning you, people are friendly.
I’ve lived in both, Orange County CA and Tampa Bay Area. This video is pretty on point. Costs of homes are less in FL but keep in mind that homeowners insurance is super experience if you’re anywhere near water - about $3,000 a year for a $300,000 home - and the bugs, lots of them! That’s why the pools have big cage around them!
$3000 a month? Holy crap, how big is the house? My house is 2100sqft in CA, and next to a bushly hill which is a big no no in CA, but the HOI only cost like $1800 a year and that's not cheap, and my ins was cancelled twice because they said the hill is a fire hazard.
Take this with love from a born and raised floridan. Its not the bugs its the alligators and birds we want to keep out of the pools, That's why we have Bird cages around our pools.
Just love Florida , we just moved here in May. I did much research before moving here. I encourage everyone to move here but don’t bring your politics with you. The Governor here is amazing, we just love him!
Well, don't bring the politics that is destroying CALI and NY. Politics are a necessary evil but agreed, if people are running away from their voting decisions only to vote the exact same here, they are only doing harm to Florida.
Great video Melanie love how you got your customers to talk about their experiences, that was brilliant. I've been a big fan of your channel for a while.
A fire extinguisher in the bedroom is something I never thought of. In addition to doing that, we put an extra dog leash right next to that fire extinguisher. Our dog sleeps in the bedroom with us. So if something really hit the fan, we have a fire extinguisher to fight our way out and a leash right there ready to go. Thanks for the great tip!
GREAT JOB!! Nice couple. Very informative. I hope you get a lot of new homebuyers from this. You sound like a great realtor and very client oriented👍Really good interview and great questions👏 The couple also gave really helpful feedback🙂
Great video with helpful tips and advice. Respectful views of moving from California to Florida. Thank you for this. It calms my nerves as I make the necessary steps for the move.
I grew up in Las Vegas. At 16 yrs old my mother sent me to live with my father who I hadn’t seen since I was 4 yrs old. He was from and living in Indiana . After about 5 months he was going through a divorce and we moved to Tampa. I actually graduated from HS in Tampa. I enjoyed my time in Florida but after graduation I moved back to Las Vegas and then to California. Most of my working life I lived on the west coast. In 2015 I moved back to Florida and I purchased a home about 80 miles from Tampa because I wanted a country life style and haven’t regretted it one minute but Florida has changed from my HS days..but then so have I.

I was contemplating moving to Florida last year from Southern California. Unfortunately the pandemic ruined my travel plans. Thank you for your great videos. When the pandemic eases am going to reconsider the move.
Melanie I really loved this post. We have been watching you for almost a year which helped our decision. I just relocated here from California in April during covid. My husband and I are in love with Tampa but we were considering Jacksonville first but his job offer was here and he received 3 offers here after only a few weeks versus Jacksonville where we had been applying over a here. They also pay more here where Jacksonville doesn't so he was able to get the same wages as California which was a big plus. California is no longer for young middle class families and we are a large one size 8. We moved sight unseen due to circumstances to old Seminole. We are excited for new beginnings. We just enrolled in real estate school maybe you could have a conversation with us about the many areas that would work for buying a house as well as the realty business. Lol lot of information but this video was so relatable. Love your videos it is really helpful when looking at moving to Florida and Tampa
I so agree with the comment about drivers/driving habits..I think it's the combination of impatient young drivers and more cautious older drivers. But there are also a lot of tourists in hurry to get started with their vacation or in hurry to get back to work.
@@ukamerican2479 if you honestly take a look at California, you should understand their concern. This isn't a vague feeling, its a real threat that dems pose.
We moved from NYC to Jax last year and we save $2500 a month on rent and well over $1,000 a year on utilities. We also don't pay for heat so that saves us around $3,000 a year . We have no regrets
The cost became an issue??? Surprise!!! Why did you vote for all those idiotic policies which always become very costly? I wonder whether you've learned your lesson or you will ruin yet another state for everybody?
Im actually watching this video all the way from Sweden ! The couple you interview mentioned something about pool wether to have one or not and since they and many other elderly home owners don’t enjoy it because of many reasons, then I was just thinking about those who all ready have them maybe they should take advantage of the pool and think how healthy that would be for them to take at Least a swim every morning, once they have it and pay for what might it cost for each family then take those cost still as a benefit which at the end it’s a huge blessing to wake up and take a swim in its own pool, not only that but they all live in paradise, they don’t live in the dark, cold and deadly depressive country like Scandinavia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, to spend its valuable life. It’s breaks my hearth how many take that Florida, Gods ultimate creation for granted, how they take USA in general for granted ! I’m watching her and listening to so many complaints and shaking my head and think, Jesus they don’t know what they have. Enjoy !🙂
I am by myself and just built a new home and even folks my age don't want one. To much upkeep for me and the amount of time I would use it would be seldom. I don't even use one at someone else pool party. Just don't care for the water Just the warm weather throughout the year even when its very humid if you're like me I go out in the evening and it's not bad if you are within 6 miles of the gulf etc its cooler.

I can barely say how much I enjoyed this superb presentation! I am one of many thousands of California professionals enslaved by the absurd government in California. This gave me a lot of good things to consider.
Tampa reminds me alot of San Diego. Weather is slightly different but not in a bad way. Tampa waterfront is nice too like SD. And the beaches around Tampa look amazing too.
Moved to Palm Harbor from Washington, DC, when I retired 6 years ago. Haven't looked back. This place is paradise. We had the ceremonial 'giving away' of the snow blower when we left. I grew up in Northern California in Sonoma and Humboldt County. Welcome aboard!
I must add one more comment. I don’t know why ppl think pools are for kids. They are excellent exercise for seniors…. My husband is 68 yrs old and is in the pool almost every day. I wish I could , I have a port with a pump of medicine that keeps me alive so I can only get my feet in it. I do sit on the stairs and swish my legs and it feels glorious. We had our best friends come visit and not went swimming …and loved the privacy! My husband has these devices he uses in the pool to exercise ….so everyone needn’t eliminate the pool just because you are older
Just out of curiosity to see how acurate it is that people from Cali are truly leaving, how many of you guys are from California, where from and planning to move to another State? If you've found one it would be great if you could share your data with us. Thank you all in advance!!!
My husband and I are originally from Florida but moved out to California in 93 after Hurricane Andrew. Now in 2021, we are moving back to Florida but we lived in Homestead. Is Tampa going to be a cultural shock compared to Homestead?
Homestead is AFRICA hot, way too tropical, plus you do run the risk of hurricanes right off the Atlantic. It's harder for hurricanes to go around Cuba, turn the corner and then ramp up towards Tampa which is why there haven't been any real powerful storms in Tampa in a long time. Tampa is sub tropical, not tropical like Homestead.
You will probably not like the weather. Summer is about six months of oppressive 90+⁰F and 90+% humidity. It's like living in a hothouse. Expect to take multiple showers and change clothes several times every day.
@@davidd7940 I lived in South Florida in the 90s as a kid, 4 yrs or so. I like the heat. Plan on keeping my home here in Sacramento to family and leaving a room for me six months a year. About April though September get out of the sauna state 😉
Moving from San Diego to the Tampa area. Yes, I am a conservative who is tired of the Shi$show, the politics and the gun laws. I'll be in Florida in about a year (written in April 2021). CA is beautiful; sad the politics have ruined it. I'll deal with the bugs and humidity; better than communism and taxes beyond belief!
Melanie. Great vids. your breakdown regarding Florida and Tampa Bay are seriously informative. How's the Asian influence in Tampa? any restaurants or Asian markets, specifically Japanese?
I moved from LA to Lake County, FL in 2015. FL has no income tax, but they get $ from property taxes which u better research first. Rent first, or get a low cost home first to reduce tax budens. Also research local politics which affect many things. Living outside city limits is also cheaper.
Loved the interview! Thinking about moving to FL. I understand how income tax would be a smaller point for retirees, but for business owners paying 13% in Cali, 8.5% in NY, etc., it'd be an absolutely a massive saving.
House prices years ago in California probably were a lot cheaper like Texas and Florida but when people start moving into cheap places it not surprisingly makes prices go higher like in California!!
Dunedin is like Naples North, only less pricey.Pasco is lower price and right next to Tampa, St Petersburg.Clearwater beach is constantly in the top 10 beaches.Fred Howerd Park is as nice it is in Tarpon Springs just north of Dunedin.
Give it a rest! Florida does not belong to you. People in this country are free to live wherever they want. I was born and raised in Florida. We could use a little blue here😂
Also, why would you need an attorney to prove residency if you owned property in more than one state? Is stuff like that that hard to prove with proper documentation? It doesn't sound like there's any property tax breaks regardless.
Very Smart on the Pool... I am a 4th Gen Floridian and when new comers say they want a pool... I tell them to take a flight from Orlando to Miami and look out the window... you will see 100k pools and 20 ppl swimming in them... it's like having a child that never grows up... $$ out the window every month
I suggest finding more rural or less populated cities & towns in Florida unless that’s what you like. Tampa is crowded and has more and more retirees everyday. Housing is more expensive too! Places like the villages us more expensive and crowded too because it’s all retirees. There are many places in Florida not crowded with snowbirds or retirees. Do some research. The closer to the coast you are the more potential for Hurricanes issues. I live about 30 minutes from coast & beaches probably only 20 minutes as the crow fly’s. I lived here since 1978 and never had any major hurricane hit or damage. Obviously closer to coast the worst it will be. Just being inland 30 minutes is a major difference if you are worried about hurricanes. Worst we had was tree fell on our roof, only minor damage in 43 years. Streets flooded sometimes during hurricane but not usually up to the house and water drains in a day or two. We have lots of retention ponds and ditches to prevent flooding.
So, quick question: What's the resale like pool vs no pool? I lived 20 years in CA, 20 years in Hawaii. The climates are very different. I've been looking at FL, and think, since it's so populated, and thousands are moving in, despite having nice beaches nearby, parking and crowding could always become an issue...thus having a pool at home seems like a good option to beat the heat. Also with the covid lie continuing into the unknown future, having all your needs met right at your own home, so to avoid people who love masks and standing stickers, seems pretty important to maintaining sanity.
Interesting that you need a lot of documentation to get a drivers license in Florida. Here in California practically all you need to do is sign your name with an X.
It's been so long since you made a video!! The wife and I are looking into moving to either South Tampa or Westchase how would you rate the elementary and middle schools there?
Just moved to Florida in May. Yes it gets hot , but if it is there I s AC everywhere .. Plus we have overhead fans throughout…I think it is amazing here. Just love where we live and love our Governor
Insurance is about 1% of the value of the home. Taxes, also. You only need flood insurance if you are really low land.I would not want to be working outdoors in FL in the hot months.
Live in New York my entire life. The taxes on property, school and village are outrageous and state income taxes are just killing the the retirement in this state. My brother and sister are ten years older than me.They both moved to Florida in 2016 ,separate homes. The combined property taxes in N.Y. we're 12000 and 7600 dollars per year for there homes.Florida there total property tax was 1400 and 1800 dollars per year,They both beged me to move then. There reasons were,no high taxes no state taxes, beautiful weather,no snowblower or shoveling, no set of summer and winter tires needed,no four sets of clothing for the season, a place for the kids to come visit, no driving in blizzard conditions and like a dummy I did not listen at the time. The property values in Florida have exploded since when they bought and I have missed that train .I am in the process of thinning out and preparing to move.Knowing I will have to pay a inflated home price but that's ok considering the tax savings in ten year what it would cost me to stay in this political corrupt Democrat state of N.Y. New York is no place for hard working or retired Republicans to survive.
FYI to all people moving to our great state of Florida: Most of you that come here are leaving Democrat run states who have voted for high taxes etc. Therefore, if you move here please vote Republican so it remains with low taxes etc. i.e. the reason you came here. If you come here and vote Democrat it will just turn into the state you fled. Get it!!!
Please do NOT support policies which made California the state people wanted to go from a generation ago, to a state people now flee...if you are liberal, stay on CA or NY or wherever and fix your MESS! If you want to flee it, then welcome!
If you are conservative, and you are planning to come to Florida you are welcome. If you are Democrat, and you plan to continue to vote the same way, you’re not welcome. I tell you why, because you’re going to transform it to the place you left. You are going to vote the same policies, and Florida will become a criminal paradise, high cost, low quality of life for middle class. Please move to states that conform with your mind set.
Florida is a great state but you need to bring money. If you are broke this is not a place to start out. Very tough when there is always somebody ready to replace you. You come to work late you will be gone. No welfare so if your daughter gets pregnant you will help support. Its great here but its all about self sustainability.
Yes, homes have central AC standard. Electric costs vary greatly depending on size of home, the temperature you keep it and age of AC but I’d say between $100-$500
It's getting worse. The past three years the beaches were unbearable. Dead fish everywhere, the air heavy, fetid and acrid. Some people had to wear respirators with organic vapor filters.
Very informative. We are a former So. Fl resident looking to move from CA to possibly the Ponte Vedra area but would most likely be renting out our CA home rather than selling

Gosh...the 8 month long dark winters must really suck...for a outgoing person like me that would be a nightmare...lol

Thank you folks, and Melanie too. I was thinking about moving to California but I have set my sights on Florida.
I can barely say how much I enjoyed this superb presentation! I am one of many thousands of California professionals enslaved by the absurd government in California. This gave me a lot of good things to consider.
Melanie you're a lovely Floridian guide, if i ever decide to move from Michigan to Florida Ill look you up!
Tampa reminds me alot of San Diego. Weather is slightly different but not in a bad way. Tampa waterfront is nice too like SD. And the beaches around Tampa look amazing too.
Tampa is nothing like San Diego. The humidity hovers at 90% all summer. It's more like Vietnam.
It Is like San Diego 6 months a year minus the mountains
i just moved to San Diego from south florida. i love it. got tired of the florida heat and hurricane threats every summer.
@@drewrowe CA is beautiful and love SD. I live in Monterey Bay, California and you should check out Big Sur, California
Melanie, this is one of your best videos...please do another soon, a couple/family from New York would be amazing. Thanks for all your hard work!
Thanks! I think that’s a great idea and I have a few that would be willing to do it!

Great video! I am considering to move to Florida someday when I retired within 4 years or so.
Wow what a great video! I loved Bill’s tips for home fire safety! Thanks for your service Bill in the Fire Department! 💜from WestShore are of Tampa
Very informative video! I also appreciated Bill's tips about fire safety and preparedness. 😊
I also moved from CA to Florida and i love it🤗💖🥰
Moved to Palm Harbor from Washington, DC, when I retired 6 years ago.
My house is already for sale in California. My husband and I can’t to wait to move to Florida 😁
If you have an ounce of liberal blood, stay in CA.
We don't want you! Stay in California.
Just out of curiosity to see how acurate it is that people from Cali are truly leaving, how many of you guys are from California, where from and planning to move to another State? If you've found one it would be great if you could share your data with us. Thank you all in advance!!!
Thank you for the fire safety tips! This was informative, appreciate you guys for taking the time to make/share it.
Go to Georgia
Thx for the video Melanie! From Sacramento looking to cash-out refi and buy a home near West Palm Beach/ South Florida region.
About April though September get out of the sauna state 😉
You should consider Wellington. Good schools, low crime.
We moved to SWFL from Ohio in 2012. Best decision we love it here.
Great video and useful information Melanie💯💯 Julia from NY.
We do not need new yorker here! You people have already ruined this country.
Melanie. Great vids. your breakdown regarding Florida and Tampa Bay are seriously informative. How's the Asian influence in Tampa? any restaurants or Asian markets, specifically Japanese?
Not as many asian restaurants in Florida. Florida has better seafood. Sushi is amazing.
Very helpful for someone from so cal!
I moved from LA to Lake County, FL in 2015. FL has no income tax, but they get $ from property taxes which u better research first. Rent first, or get a low cost home first to reduce tax budens. Also research local politics which affect many things. Living outside city limits is also cheaper.
Great advice. Do you have any resources for avoiding counties by politics? Definitely don't want to find same problems.
Please tell me what you talking about no income tax every body paid income tax out of our pay check
@@debbiesolomon4440 no state income tax
Loved the interview! Thinking about moving to FL. I understand how income tax would be a smaller point for retirees, but for business owners paying 13% in Cali, 8.5% in NY, etc., it'd be an absolutely a massive saving.
House prices years ago in California probably were a lot cheaper like Texas and Florida but when people start moving into cheap places it not surprisingly makes prices go higher like in California!!
Hey i'm about to move from living all over California, to Florida and i know both states pretty well. Would love to give you a different perspective!
Vote RED unless you want California 2.0!!!!
I am in California, just thinking people who move to Florida voted for Democrats socialist will destroy Florida.
Dunedin is like Naples North, only less pricey.Pasco is lower price and right next to Tampa, St Petersburg.Clearwater beach is constantly in the top 10 beaches.Fred Howerd Park is as nice it is in Tarpon Springs just north of Dunedin.
Great interview!
Cape Coral is amazing too!
Hope they left that California mentality in California.
Doesn't seem like they did
Give it a rest!
Insurance, I would think would be high with a pool! I would be satisfied with lawn chairs and a sprinkler to cool down over a pool.
Thank you Melanie for great interview with Bill and Dotty. Good information.
GREAT video. So helpful. Thank you. New subscriber.

I’m in Monterey Bay, California and considering South Carolina, Florida and Arizona.
Awesome video and I loved the couple. Overall such a informative video - thank you!!
Interesting that you need a lot of documentation to get a drivers license in Florida. Here in California practically all you need to do is sign your name with an X.
It's been so long since you made a video!! The wife and I are looking into moving to either South Tampa or Westchase how would you rate the elementary and middle schools there?
Look for private schools or consider home schooling.
Go to Georgia you will love it .🦉
If you do not want a pool maintenance ,can you just drain it and keep it without water ?
no
Fill it in.
Good review and appreciate the fire safety tips. Nice couple.
Just moved to Florida in May. Yes it gets hot , but if it is there I s AC everywhere .. Plus we have overhead fans throughout…I think it is amazing here. Just love where we live and love our Governor
Great video Melanie, we are from Cali, now NY and hoping to be in Tampa area very very soon
Stay in New York! We don't want you!
Excellent informative video! Good interview with a delightful couple.
What a great video. Loved hearing first hand info about moving to FL. Do you think she could post her moving list for us? 😊... thanks.
He was so informative!!
I'd be curious how much the home owners insurance is including wind coverage and flood if needed?
No matter where you live in Florida you need flood insurance. It's separate you've got to tack it onto your homeowners insurance.
Insurance is about 1% of the value of the home. Taxes, also. You only need flood insurance if you are really low land.I would not want to be working outdoors in FL in the hot months.
@@breesechick BULL!

Yeah we don't pay for heat but can't go outside during summer because of the extreme heat and humidity especially the elders!

Great Video Melanie! Great Audio, Visuals, and a super insightful topic!

what a great informative video. thank you.
I remember a lot of impatient drivers in NY/NJ. So many New Yorkers driving to Florida. 😀
Great informative video.......consider moving to Florida from California......retire.....
I am considering FL from Monterey Bay, California to Bradenton.
Get it!!!
Nobody cares about your feelings.
@@FollowLeonIsMyRealtor I see a more fact-based comment from m phil than an emotional comment. Maybe you should keep your feelings to yourself.
Please don’t make this political . This is a democratic country so far I know .
@@ameliaabarquez5431 It is political....Dont screw up our free state with liberal crap. This is a republican state.
Please do NOT support policies which made California the state people wanted to go from a generation ago, to a state people now flee...if you are liberal, stay on CA or NY or wherever and fix your MESS! If you want to flee it, then welcome!
Top 3 states people are leaving , CA , NY and NJ ...Top 4 states there moving to are Florida , Texas , WV and KY ..
Agree. That's why my wife and I moved from NJ to Florida. ;)
Hi Melanie what subdivision you in and what are very popular names of subdivisions in Tampa Bay
Florida is a great state but you need to bring money. If you are broke this is not a place to start out. Very tough when there is always somebody ready to replace you. You come to work late you will be gone. No welfare so if your daughter gets pregnant you will help support. Its great here but its all about self sustainability.
Move to IWOA
The way it should be
It's hard to make money here.
Does all home has air-conditioning? How much is the cost of electricity per month?
Yes, homes have central AC standard. Electric costs vary greatly depending on size of home, the temperature you keep it and age of AC but I’d say between $100-$500
Great video Melanie.

So what if you don’t own a car but have a driver’s license? How to obtain one when moving to Florida ?
Is red-tide bad this year?
It's getting worse. The past three years the beaches were unbearable. Dead fish everywhere, the air heavy, fetid and acrid. Some people had to wear respirators with organic vapor filters.
