    Been here most of my life, but not born here. My only reason for being here now is family, but honestly, my gripes are first and foremost the heat and humidity, no real change of seasons, you have to drive everywhere you want to go, too spread out, and nothing to do. I know, there is fishing, boating, the beach, amusement parks. But that all gets old real fast. Also, the big issue of hurricane season. We already got flooded out from Ian. I miss season changes, needing a coat, a white Christmas. Seeing my breath when it is cold😊

    The main problem in Florida is simply the Home Owner Insurance unaffordability. Period. There is no need to look at any other aspects. If this hurdle can't be cleared, then there is no hope.

      the problem is houses are built with an intent of a destruction from a natural disaster by construction companies. If one builds a normal house (ie no house from cardboard), it should withstand the hurricanes. For example, I do not see multi-storied concrete buildings disintegrate from the wind...

    Everyone's situation will be different. For us, moving from the NW suburbs of the Chicago area down to Bradenton, our total state income tax savings ALONE covers all of our basic living expenses (basic food, utilities, property tax, home/auto insurance). As for home insurance, we secured our FL policy through State Farm and specifically found a home built after March 2022 (stricter hurricane building code), X/1-zone, no flood zone and do not back up to water. Compared to our IL policy, our FL policy went up $120 per month. Yet again, this increase was covered with our state income tax savings. Bugs, gators, critters, humidity, politics, hurricanes, etc are all givens -- one has to accept that before even considering FL. As for the influx of people, really don't notice it coming from a major metropolitan area. Yes, FL was the right choice for us and never looked back.

    I live in Alachua County (Gainesville) which is the one of the top 5 most expensive counties in Florida to live and has the highest utility costs per month. This is considered north central so we’re 90 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean (St. Augustine or Jax) and 90 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico (Cedar Keys). We’re 1 1/2 hours from Tampa, 2 hours from Clearwater Beach. Gainesville used to be a beautiful family city; however, the crime rate has skyrocketed, especially violent crimes including murder. Our utility costs are THROUGH THE ROOF because we only have one provider so there’s no choice. For whatever reason, Gainesville has been allowed to have a legalized monopoly because our only utility provider is Gainesville Regional Utility. It’s common to pay $500 a month for electricity/water/sewer/trash while living in a 2 bedroom apartment that cost you $1,500 a month to rent! Insurance? Forget it! Health, car, home, renters - it doesn’t matter, no one can afford it now. We have a HUGE homeless population because we’re considered a sanctuary city; however, city officials do absolutely nothing to get these people some help. With this increasing homeless population, we now have trash thrown absolutely everywhere. We went from a clean beautiful city to a trash dump. Gainesville residents are flooding out of this county. I’m not far behind but I’ll be moving to a cheaper area in Florida. There’s no way in hell I’ll ever live anywhere north of Florida again.

    Your videos are so interesting, thorough and thought provoking. I find it surprising that ppl would dislike the political view of Desantis . Compared to greusom in the state of ca- Fl is very fortunate. This is a very controlled, poorly managed(financially) state. It's like being in a prison. About 70% of the yr is good weather, very little rain. Our HI tax $ disappear and it's very frustrating. There are about 7+measures for raising taxes that groups are fighting against. Including being taxed for every mile you drive. We live in our car and things are very far apart. Nobody wants this we are already paying exorbitant taxes. Can't say there's an issue with bugs. I've never seen a gator in my life. People are friendly. But the high price of homes is Out Of Reach for people in their thirties. Taxes on businesses is outrageous and businesses have left or are leaving because of it. I have a strong strong desire to move near family in Florida but the humidity is the bottom of the list whereas home insurance and bugs are at the top of the list. I'm really battling with it. But this state and many things about it had become such a turn-off that there's no reason to stay anymore. beach is theeee pull. Thanks so much for all your videos.

    The weather as a pro is the thing I disagree with the most, I think it is almost just beat into everyones head so much they think its true. I lived in Florida for years. Now we moved up north. Where we live, we have about 3 months of very cold weather (January, February, and March.) April, November and December are hit and miss but genrally most days are light jacket and jean days. The rest of the year is amazing. In Florida, however, It was basically late April through Almost early November (6-7 months) of mostly oppressive heat, humidity, and yes when the sunshine that beats down non-stop hits your skin it makes those 88 degree days feel like 100.
    3 months of cold weather here (where we often take one or two weeks vacation during that time to break up the winter by going to a warmer place) for us is MUCH better than 6+ months of heat where you are just running from an air conditioned building to an air conditioned car and then running back into an air conditioned building.

    • @Falla76
      @Falla76 Год назад +1

      Not once did you mentioned where “up north” you moved too. This alone makes me doubt the truth of your reply. I can’t help but wonder if you’re just another shill for the Democrat Party which is very much afraid of losing electoral votes in the northern states that are mostly, and poorly, run by Democrats. I currently live on Long Island, New York ($$$) and I’ve looked at real estate in New England (mostly New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont) and I easily observed the much higher cost of their homes which doesn’t include the poor conditions that the homes are in requiring expensive renovation work on top of the sales price, and of course the higher utility costs. Financially there is no way you made out better moving “up north,” unless you moved to North or South Dakota, West Virginia or maybe some very rural area of Pennsylvania. North Carolina or Tennessee - financially and weather wise - what you saying might hold true. Rs

      Wow, that is what you are worried about? get a life guy. I see no reason when taking part in a conversation on youtube to give the exact location of where I live or personal details to satisfy someone like you who cares SO MUC about your political party that you fragile ego obviously needs the emotional victory lap you think you are getting by calling someone out because you are looking to do so. And I am VERY far form being a political shill for the left. Maybe before you think of how expensive your little area of the country is and project that to the rest of the county to the west of you, how about doing a little research before you take a shot at someone who you just don't like hearing the truth they are telling you?
      Try looking at parts of the midwest. Lots of places within 100 miles of Cincinatti fall exactly under my description. Financially we certainly are making out better, lower cost of housing here than in Florida, and again, maybe everything is falling apart in Long island but that is NOT the case here in the midwest. Plenty of new houses, communites with houses builid in the last 20 years.@@Falla76

    $5000 for insurance?? That’s totally shocking unless you have maybe a $3 million dollar home.

    We’ve lived in Daytona for six years and love it.
    But how come none of these lists include the mostly pro-gun stance here? And now, we have almost but not quite constitutional carry.
    That’s one of the things I love about being here.
    It’s a HUGE plus that too many overlook.

    Fact. FL does NOT have the largest coastline in the US. That would be Alaska, by far. Get your facts straight.

      Alaska actually has more coastline than the entire country in the lower 48. Get your facts before saying something stupid.
