I met John Stallworth sometime around 1991-1992. It was a very informal meeting and even though I had admired him throughout his NFL career, I didn't even recognize him at the time. Long story short, he is one hell of a nice guy. I was young, shy and unsure of myself at the time. And recognizing that, Stallworth was soft spoken, considerate and very respectful of me.

In today's league these guys would be like having Randy Moss and Antonio Brown on the same team. They would suck up a third of the salaries, catch 250 or so per season for around 20-30 TDs, then take massive paydays. There will never be another team as freakin' loaded as the great Steel Curtain.

Stallworth and Swann just played with the Steelers for their whole career so they are really the true legendary duo. Also, remember this back in the days the Steelers had a decent Offensive Line to protect Bradshaw from the Defensive Line for the opposing team.

NIKO SAMUELS Exactly how were Swann and Stallworth better?
      Career Rec Yds Y/R TD
      Swann 336 5462 16.3 51
      Stallworth 537 8723 16.2 63
      Biletnikoff 589 8974 15.2 76
      Branch 501 8685 17.3 67
      S & S 6 pro bowls and 2x all pros
      B & B 10 pro bowls and 5x all pros
      S & S led NFL in a recieving category 1x
      B & B led NFL in a recieving category 8x
      S & S 1000 yard seasons 3 (Swann 0 his best season was only 880 yds)
      B & B 1000 yard seasons 3 (Branch 2)
And don't try to hand me that clutch crap.
Biletnikoff was the leader in post season catches, and yards when he retired.
Branch broke those records and was the leader in those categories when he retired (Jerry Rice broke his records).
B & B were better in the regular season and in the post season, have more catches, more yards and more tds.
So just how exactly do you get that S & S are better?

    • @nikosuavesworldofsportsmusic

sydboski IF MY BOY LESTER HAYES CAN'T GET IN THE HALL OF FAME BECAUSE OF STICKUM PLEASE DON'T EXPECT ME TO GIVE OVERRATED BILETNIKOFF ANY CREDIT ONLY HAD 1 CAREER 1,000 YARD RECEIVING SEASON & THAT HAPPENED IN THE DEFENSIVELY CHALLENGED AFL. BRANCH DESERVES TO BE IN THE HALL OF FAME NO DOUBT. ALSO THE RAIDERS THREW THE BALL ON AVERAGE 20X MORE PER GAME THE STEELERS & SWANN & STALLWORTH'S CAREER NUMBERS AREN'T THAT FAR BEHIND BRANCH & BILETNIKOFF SO THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING & FINALLY THEY OUTPERFORMED BRANCH & BILETNIKOFF DAMN NEAR EVERY TIME THE RAIDERS & STEELERS PLAYED HEAD TO HEAD DESPITE GETTING FEWER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE PASSING GAME PLUS THEY WERE BIGGER, STRONGER, & MUCH MORE DYNAMIC & ACROBATIC & FUN TO WATCH THAN BRANCH & BILETNIKOFF. REMEMBER NUMBERS DON'T ALWAYS TELL THE TRUE STORY AS YOU SHOULD'VE ALREADY KNOWN BY NOW.

    • @sydboski
      @sydboski 6 лет назад

      Niko Samuels
      1. Why are you writing in all caps?
      2. So the reason you think Hayes is not in the HOF is because of stickum? Think again. It's the voters that keep him and Branch out. They seem to have something against the Raiders.
      3. Biletnikoff had 1x 1000 yard season 1x 900 yd, and 3x 800 yd seasons. Swann had 0x 1000, 0x 900 and only 2x 800 yd seasons.
      4. Stallworth's stats can compare to Branch's and Biletnikoff's. Swann's pale in comparison. During Swann's career 1974 - 1982, 9 years, the Raiders threw the ball 151 more times than the Steelers.
      5. Head to head all four only played against each other in 6 games 2x in 1974, 1x in 1975, 2x in 1976, and 1x in 1977.
      1974 game 1 STallworth & Swann had 2 rec for 33 yds 0 tds Branch & Biletnikoff had 2 rec 32 yds 1 td.
      game 2 St & Sw had 4 rec - 33 yds - 1 td vs Br & Bk 12 rec - 231yds - 1 td
1975 St & Sw 4-75-1 vs Br 2-56-0 Bk did not play.
      1976 game 1 St & Sw 8-120-0 vs Br & Bk 8-150-1
game 2 St & Sw 4-76-0 vs Br 3-46-0 Bk did not play
1977 St & Sw 6-140-0 vs Bk 1-22-0 Br did not play
So as it looks Branch and Biletnikoff out dueled Stallworth and Swann 3 times and were outdueled only when they were not at full strength.
      6. Size: Stallworth was 6'2" 191 lbs, Swann was 5'11" 180 lbs vs Biletnikoff 6'1" 190 lbs and Branch 5'11" 170. So S&S were slightly heavier. Stronger? Who knows? That is something that you cannot prove. Dynamic? Strictly opinion based. Branch was obviously the most dangerous. Acrobatic? Swann was the most acrobatic, but Stallworth was no acrobat. Cliff was slightly acrobatic as was Blietnikoff. Fun to watch? That is strictly opinion based also. Swann making a leaping catch? Branch hitting 6th gear and torching the secondary? Biletnikoff making an amazing catch? Or Stallworth doing ???
Still looks like Branch and Biltetnikoff to me.

How'd those two do to make the game winning play to win or change the momentum ultimately in their teams favor in post season ,especially consistently like Swann and Stalworth ? There were no listless ,wasted stats mongering when the opposing team was in prevent defense ,protecting a lead in post season with Swann and Stalworth , they put up excellent performance at all stages of a post season contests when bradshaw called their numbers in post season , Chris Carter himself stated Randy Moss biggest problem.was he had a quick quit button when things weren't going his way ,stopped running his route tree ,no energy, pouting ,when the ball wasn't coming his way ,because defenses tailored it's coverages towards him ,selfish player who sucked the air out of a room whenever he felt he wasn't the focal point of a offense , Carter's vice was not having the authentic speed to routinely beat coverages deep., both ,Carter and Moss are deserving hofers ,but not a better tandem then Swann and Stalworth . Great players transcended impact supercede their extraordinary stats ,very good players impact and stats are equal ,good players stats are better then actual impact ,Swann and Stalworth were the first mentioned category in SB 's .

You might say the 3 greatest, because Jim Smith was just as good as stallworth and swann, you just got to watch Smith in action. I could not understand why the steelers let him go, but it probably was contract and 💰. The steelers organization was cheap, stallworth had that problem with the team. The real reason the 80s teams didn't come through is chuck noll had his favorites. And trust me it hurt the teams of the 80s. Letting Jim Smith Theo Bell Greg Hawthorne go and bring in weggie Thompson Greg garrity Paul skansi, what was this organization think about. It was the same on defense. 93 keith Willis 64 Edmonds Nelson 92 keith Gary was going to be the new steel curtain but again noll favorite 65 tom Beasley 67 Dunn 95 goodman was not going to cut it. The steelers had to much talent and noll kept his most talented players on the bench because of his favoritism and I hope you know what I mean.
