Sammy Winder
In the era before free agency, a player was drafted to your team and they would remain on your team for years. They weren’t constantly changing teams, so you rooted for those players and they were in your life as a fan year after year. There was a connection to players that outside of a few “big name” players just doesn’t exist anymore.
Ask a longtime fan of the Denver Broncos to name some of their favorite players and “Super Sam” Sammy Winder would be right there at their top of the list. Winder was not big powerful bruiser or a fast homerun hitter, but he had the heart of a Lion and got the absolute most out of his abilities to lead the Broncos in rushing during the 80’s. Drafted in 198...

Louis Wright

Louis Wright was a shutdown corner before the term was invented. A 4× First-team All-Pro (1978, 1979, 1983, 1984); Second-team All-Pro (1977); and a 5× Pro Bowler. In my opinion Wright, a member of the All-70’s team, should be in the Hall Of Fame. At 6-3 200 pounds with sprinter speed offenses rarely tested Wright which is the reason for him “only” having 26 career interceptions. It’s no coinci...
Tom Jackson

Tom Jackson was the face of the Denver Broncos franchise before John Elway. At the time of his retirement at the end of the 1986 season, Jackson had played more seasons and more games than any player in team history. Fittingly at the end of Super Bowl 21 Jackson and Elway were arm and arm in a symbolic passing of the torch. One career ending, one just beginning.
Lynn Swann Career Highlights

I started this video with a 1981 Monday Night Football halftime highlight where the venerable Howard Cosell opinions that Lynn Swann is perhaps the greatest WR of all time. NFL fans that have grown up with the era of inflated video game type receiving stats have often referenced Swann’s Hall Of Fame credentials his stats in particular. Anyone who thinks this way was either a Raider fan or simpl...
Super Bowl 16 The Winner Takes It All

As CBS ended their Super Bowl 16 Cincinnati Bengals Vs the San Francisco 49ers broadcast, they cut away playing Abba’s 1981 hit “The Winner Takes It All”. As the song played, the sight of Kenny Anderson, QB of the Bengals, carrying his little boy off the field in defeat as 49ers coach Bill Walsh was carried off by his players always stuck with me. My Dad was a diehard Bengals fan and the next d...
Ken Anderson Career Highlights

Kenny Anderson was the 1st “West Coast” Quarterback. West Coast being Cincinnati Ohio. Bill Walsh’s famed offense still being run today was created around the talents of Ken Anderson. Deadly accurate, completing 60% of his passes when the rest of the NFL was completing 50%, Anderson had a huge impact on the modern day passing game that is today’s NFL. Upon his retirement Anderson held numerous ...

Earl Campbell Career Highlights

Earl Campbell rarely gets mentioned when it comes up in the best ever conversation, but Campbell along with Barry Sanders were the only two backs in my opinion to strike fear into defenders. Sanders made defenders fear looking foolish, while Earl Campbell made defenders fear for their well-being. He intimidated through quiet confidence. He would truck a defender and get gang tackled by half the...
Chuck Foreman Career Highlights

Chuck Foreman was the precursor to the modern NFL Running Back. He switched back and forth between Fullback and Running back during his career (1973-1980) and with his soft hands he led the league in receptions once. Foreman rivaled OJ Simpson as the the RB of the 1970's. His 1975 season was legendary as he led the NFL in receptions, scored 22 Touchdowns which would have set the NFL season reco...

Pittsburgh Steelers Defense (The 1970's Era)
Put Lester in the HOF!
LesterHayes one the great corner backs of his era stick am King of all times.
That last catch on this video by JJ against Lester "The Judge" Hayes, and rolling into the end zone for winning td left bad taste in my mouth as a 13 year old Raiders fan from east coast. As soon as that happened, it went straight to next programming...lol
Darryl Stingley was a best player from New England but his season cut short he was paralyzed by Jack Tatum. RIP 1951-2007
Great song for dusty Rhodes he's a true American icon who's my idol
H.O.F. TRULY THE BEST #37 #2 ON MY RAIDERS LEDGED LIST HE IS RIGHT BEHIND MARCH ALLEN #32 IS #1
I'm from Dallas, I met John Jefferson in Wynnewood Shopping Center in Dallas, he was nice and talked with me and I thought that that was great, that he would be so humble and nice.
If Elway didnt turn his ankle in the 85 playoffs vs Steelers they would have went to the AFCCG or SB.
Great video, thanks for sharing. The only thing he seems to be remembered for is the hit he took that ended his career, because it’s the only highlight ever shown. It’s great to see something like this to remind people he was a really good player prior to that.
Gave me tears watching this....
Even tho blacks had it so hard back then just something about the 60s, nd 70s era too me ppl seem So much more grounded
Outstanding!
He is my Childhood Hero!
Loved his driving catches
A flabby 40 year Ali and still he had mercy on Alzado.. Anyone who saw that.fight and knows boxing would understand what I'm talking about
The Mississippi Mudwalk was the best TD celebration in history.
Joe Washington had the moves of Gayle Sayers and the elusive moves of Houdini. Loved watching him from his days at OU to the NFL where he wasn't "featured". Sure wish we had him still!
Best era of football! I went to all the home games...Lynn Swan was and still is my all time favorite player!
I remember him at Arizona State, best hands ever
My all time favorite player Thank you Tony ❤🎉🎉
When I was 10 years old I had the chance to see him playing against Raiders.for me he was the best
The memories being a Broncos fan
Please 🙏 put the legend into the hall of fame
He had huge thighs
Possibly the greatest offense to ever do it….
This is incredible
This dude was awesome, and should be in the hall in Canton Ohio. Great coverage of the old NFL days were you got hit it was like a car accident and no yellow flag. Players never missed the next play. It was truly a brutal game you signed up for. And J J never wore gloves, now that's old school tuff as nails pro football entertainment for all of us to witnesses today from yester years gone bye.
For whatever reason, I have remembered this closing clip to Super Bowl XVI for 40+ years. It's funny the things that stick with you.
Don"t believe all that hype about the 90s bulls they never saw a nba finals in the 80s they have no claim to being the best ever
Thank you Tony Dorsett! what a great time to be a cowboys fan!! thanks for the memories!! one of the greatest players of all time!!!! my heroes have always been cowboys!!!
Duper, and Clayton were a perfect compliment to each other
Sandbag in the draft, they tried to blackball them and look at Him. Hall of Fame
Pittsburgh Sports broadcaster, "Myron Cope" also inventor of the "Terrible Towel" Had a few nick names for Lambert. And one of them that comes to mind is "Jack The Splat Lambert! lol
In the conversation for GOAT IMO. Joiner played 18 years and was productive until he hung it up. Wow, those Charger's were an absolute joy to watch on offense.
Fuck the chargers for trading JJ he deserve 1 million dollars a year he wanted but you gave it to Dan fouts the loser the shit hole chargers
There’s only one American dream Dusty Rhodes
As a kid, I love this guy. I think San Diego did him wrong. Did him dirty sending him off to Green Bay wasted talent after that. The packers didn’t know how to use him. Shift them out and got West Chandler. Wish I would’ve saw this post when it came out two years ago that guy was awesome though.
Also grew up thinking Morgan was the best wanted the pats to win in 85 .
Thank you for posting this. Its been a true joy to watch my faborite player of alk time. Again, thank you!
That was of my favorite WideOut Wes/
The NFL was far better under Pete Rozelle.
James Brooks Jr ?
It's bullsh#t he is not in the HOF !
Hall of Fame!!!
I vividly remember the end of the 1980 season when John Jefferson tried to renegotiate his contract with the Chargers but then owner Gene Klein (a "skin flint") was so upset that he traded Jefferson to Green Bay. SD QB Dan Fouts has said that after Jefferson left the Charger offense (although still good) really wasn't the same again
Watching the Steelers tackle reminds me of when my cat catches a mouse.
He is my favorite Steeler. He embodied and exemplifed what it is to be a Pittsburgh Steeler.
Chuck Foreman deserves to be in The Hall of Fame!
Great video bringing me back to my childhood. My favorite Jet player.
When they make list of greatest all purpose backs they forget about Chuck Foreman. This guy was problem would to have a prime Foreman in today’s NFL
