Instantly transported back to the Lighthouse world. Crazy how recognisable some of those sounds are. Such a cool instrument and guy!
And no nomination in any way shape or form for sound in this film. I’m actually frustrated
The J Hook Master that’s just wrong. At the very least The Lighthouse should’ve gotten a nomination for sound/soundtrack. The Academy has gotten pathetic - shallow. As bad as the Grammy®️ people
The Lighthouse was simply too good for the stagnant, philistine award ceremonies.
Tell me about it
Neither for uncut gems either which blew my mind
That’s because the nominations are entirely bullshit
"I actually don't know what it is..." This guy is just having too much fun!
It sounds cool, that's everything he needs to know.
He should go on a tour with that thing and perform live... I would definitely buy a ticket.
I think he said he does. Don't know about right now but you know.
i knew it had to be some genius behind atmosphere in The VVitch and The Lighthouse, amazing
why did you say vv instead of w
The piece at the end. Bone chilling.
That is amazing. I run a lighthouse in Akranes, Iceland. If you wuold like to be welcome to do sound tests in that lighthous.
haha the "Apprehension Engine" is such a fun name
Musical genius and such a cool dude
Composers are working like accounts. Great observation.
This sounds like the music box you'd find at a gift shop in hell
What a genius! The black phone score was fire this is incredible.
Excellent segment, thank you.
I love his music. It's amazing.
I could totally picture Jonny Greenwood getting drawn in to one of these instruments!
yes please
More like Trent Reznor, in fact he already owns one.
In rainbows >
Yes! My first thought was "Someone get Jonny one of these!"
@@gigachad192 for real!? I'm excited to hear what Trent does with it.
Absolutely fantastic
Foghorn FTW!
Also - whole soundtrack from Lighthouse reminds me great dark ambient from Silent Hill series, by Akira Yamaoka.
There's just something eerie about this instrument and the way it's played that taps into that visceral, terrifying, nightmare response
Truly beautiful.
Dang I get shivers when I hear each sound
Fascinating stuff, thanks for the inspiration!
Fascinating !
This a video I was waiting for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is just GREAT !
Brilliant - inspiring stuff
These sounds mesmerize me.
This dude is the creator of nightmares
THIS IS AWESOME
This is amazing!
Amazing
Opening the gates to Hell is what I heard! I peed a bit.
I want one !
I can't even find words for this. Just wow.
It's like 80s analog horror synths meets the unknown.
And NO AWARDS for this?.. you've got to be kidding me.
oh hi mark
Korven means - the sausage - in Swedish.
Oh hi mark
Lmao I noticed this fr
I love scary noises. ❤️
I want one
Very Very interesting about Mark Korven setup, about pedelboard?
One major element is missing in these explainations : the number and types of effects he is using in his setup. It's not just the "Apprehension box" that produces these sounds on its own but the box connected to different sorts of reverbs, delays, and loopers (and probably more) that you can see on his right side and at his feet. Type "noise box" in your RUclips search bar and you'll find zillions of box of that kind and how to do it yourself.
Oh hi Mark
can anyone help me know how he amplifies it all?
the creepiest sound machine ever!!
Someone give this to MC Ride
David lynch : Hold my beer !!
also check out the daxophone instrument for eerie sounds.
4am 🙋🏾♂️hello fellow NightOwls
Hell music box
something doesn't feel right in my body suddenly
Kickass conjuring!!!!!
His name is ground sausage in swedish
I'm Norwegian.....but thanks for pointing that out! A Swede mentioned this to me a few years back.
I also finf it interesting and creepy, to not knowing, and find new sounds,,, but I use the same results, sometimes in harmonic bright moments,,, and that is what it looks like inside me, regardless if it is dark or bright,,, strange
13:58 When you just barely make it to the toilet
I read this 20 seconds before the time stamp. That was suspenseful! Lol.
7:50 lol
what are you pointing out?
@@LewisHerd "Where do you get your ideas from'' is one of the worst interview questions you can ask because it's so open ended and has no real concrete answer.

anxiety inducing. i dig it.
What microphones are they using?
Probably just a common sm-58
*_now you take a horn sample from the titanic itself and crank it up to 11, and now you have the lighthouse noise!_*
ultimate uncanny!
That bowed rod is nuts!!! Love it. Sounds like a didgeridoo with rabies…
This is random, but if anyone can ID the jacket Mark is wearing I would REALLY appreciate it.
How would we know 😢
So this is the guy making those scary noises in the sky? How loud do they get?
Like number 666. Hells yeah...
13:40 you're welcome
8:45
Nice
Can I give 10 thumbs up? Or more?
6:52 remember the witch
Feel deliberate is a better word for manipulate here.
I believe this composer earned millions of dollars 💵💵
All the negative points you’ve highlighted about this camera have no bearing at all on the type of shoot you’re doing here, and any chimping you may think you need to do regarding exposure being correct etc, is ultimately down to you as a photographer not being confident or experienced enough to know what their exposure settings should be etc. chimping is not necessary if you know what you’re doing.
Click bait... Just for the movie. But not sound of a movie lighthouse
I’m cringing so hard...
why
@@partytrumpet in a creepy way. I love this soundtrack it’s very unique
